- We have reviewed our Vango Galli III Drive away awning, have a watch and see what we think, the good, the bad and the ugly!
We watched so many "how to" and "review" videos before we purchased the Vango Galli but none of them really highlighted the real world scenarios, so on our tour of wales we decided to film some vlogs about what is it like to use and live with the Vango airbeam Galli III drive away awning.

You can buy a bright yellow strip of tape that is secured by pegs against the drivers side wheels.
So when you return to site you line up the wheels with the tape and reattach the awning.
We also mark where the centre of the wheels are on the tape so that it aligns front to back.
Hope this helps
We use a strip of bright coloured guide rope and two flat top pegs to mark the perfect parking spot once set up. Reverse in along the line and stop when the pegs in the center of the wheels.
Hammer a tent peg into the ground in the center of each wheel to leave markers that help when repositioning your van. Doing it your way is borderline impossible!
Thanks for this. We got the pools of water in the same place. After driving away and re attaching it we altered the distance slightly and the tension was better and virtually no pooling. Since then we focus on the tension between the van and main body before securing it all down. Slightly angling and pegging the side door panels under the bottom of the van has helped with this. I know the frusrations but each time we use it we get better ....keep on camping
Thanks for posting this. I am in the US and wanted to purchase this type of awning. With the challenges you nicely pointed out, I have to re-think about buying this type of awning.
Use the throw over straps, don’t connect to the van. Much easier and tight every time.
Exactly!
Are there throw over straps included? And if so..are they long enough to peg to the ground on the opposite side or what do you connect them too? Thanks
Ok the idea is to park, put up the awning but when you do, make sure the tent is the correct distance away. Then once you have it perfect, mark the position of your back wheels with rocks, pegs anything.
Yep we do that but when you come back at night it’s a faff
Great Video! Whats the attachement the awning slides onto the sun shader called? Thanks
Same issue with the Kayla touring air. I’m here looking for alternatives.
U should attach the tunnel to the van first, then peg the awning and blow up. Mark one the ground where the centre of the tyres are i.e make a little runway to reverse Ur van into the exact spot when the tunnel should attach. I have never erected the galli prior to attaching it to the van first!!
always attach awning to van, then pitch set up awning from van! It's dead easy ! Also use storm straps, no puddles,!
Believe me we’ve tried everything!
You're putting the awning up first are you. Surely not. You put your van where you want it. Thread you're awning onto rail. Then wind thule back. Then peg down slightly under awning front & back. Then pullout the awning tight & peg fronts
Then blow up awning. Finish by pegging out.
After all done. Put peg right up to wheels on drivers side. So you can drive back into exact position after going out.
Put pegs on drivers side so you can put your head out of window to drive exactly right.
Yes we are definitely putting the van in place first. The issue is coming back at night, even with a peg.
U can als buy filler foam to fill the gaps u have each side of awning. U have gaps because of the roll out thing u have attached to the van
Stitch a loop onto the outside so you can fit a rope to tighten
Lol you don't put the tent up first, you attach the porch first then peg it
Attach to the van first then peg out base before inflating. Simple
First trip out and we have this exact same problem :(
You are not alone! Deep breathing and alcohol usually help :-)
Theres no right way, that tunnel is a nightmare.
Everyone has the same problem.
😂
Your van is too low, buy a taller one lol.
We have Lol!
We have a maxus minibus (high) I’m just wondering if all your probelms have been resolved since getting a higher van? .. I’m looking at buying one of these but just came across your video! X super good points thanks for sharing
