Of course you can. Obviously the focus of the video was official expansions (as those are the ones that will eventually disappear), but it's good that there's a strong fan community.

Presumably, if you need Escalation to play the expansions that have/will follow after it, the long term availability of that one might be alright (unlike Ambull and Traitor)
In all honesty, not an assumption I would like to make. Games Workshop quite often just do single print runs, so it's almost certainly the case that none of these will get another printing, especially now the end goal has been announced. There will be whatever is left. Escalation is much more recent, and therefore it stands to reason there are more still in stock than expansions such as Ambull which are much older. However, the importance of that expansion and the much better content over the first two expansions suggests that Escalation would sell better so may actually sell out sooner. Waiting on that one is not a gamble I would personally make, but everybody has to make their own call on that.
This content is still useful in 2024. There’s a few copies coming back into eBay , some new , some used presumably form those selling on. I’ve treated myself to all the expansions plus 3D printed parts. I’m busy painting up now.

It's very difficult to shut me up about Blackstone Fortress so I'm sure there will be more content regardless of when it ends (besides, I'm still not so quietly confident we will get a new Warhammer Quest game once Blackstone finishes, and I will definitely be on board for that). A playthrough is on the cards; I just can't say when at the moment. I did do a video a while back on Feldherr cases, and that's how I'm storing the miniatures for this game. Everything else is in the core box. I can definitely take a look at the heroes in more detail, but I will say I'm very partial to the crusader.
No Respite is listed at $450+ on eBay as of this writing. GW really needs to issue reprints on this game. It's hugely popular and there weren't nearly enough copies produced.
Games Workshop online store reopened today and I straight away pulled the trigger and bought the two remaining expansions I didn’t yet own (aside from the card packs): Traitor Command and No Respite. I’ll get Deadly Alliance and Ascension upon release. I think you are right and some of these expansions will be hard to find at some point in the future.
Traitor Command offers a good aesthetic bonus to those who value that aspect a bit over narrative. The two miniatures inside are beautiful and all of the cards inside have unique art, that really helped me envision the setting a bit more. (Unlike the Ambull's cut and pasted artwork for the cards. I think the Ambull has something like 3 unique images and TC has like 20+)
The miniatures are fantastic, and I can't argue the aesthetic. It was quite difficult to order the expansions (I wanted them all, and I'm very happy I have them all!) but when push comes to shove, I just felt that the actual game content came up short on Traitor Command compared to the others. I wouldn't be without that ogryn though; he's too cool.
Well, we mostly agree this time. I would put all of the card packs and No Respite on the ‘okay to skip’ list. And if you’re only going to get one, it needs to be Escalation. Another tip is that you can sometimes find them on places like eBay where people have looted the minis and are selling off the rules and card bits from an expansion set. If you don’t mind proxying miniatures, you may be able to grab an expansion cheaply that way.
The mini-less route can be a good option. I actually suggested it in my video review for the Dreaded Ambull, and showed how the Nolzur's D&D amber hulk is a perfectly good proxy. Unfortunately, nobody is buying No Respite for the miniatures, so that's one where you either have to bite the bullet or pass.

The Ambull mission in White Dwarf was a top quality product! It was so refreshing to get something for "free" that felt like it had more to offer than on of the $60 boxed expansions. I kind of interpreted it as an apology for the lacking in the Ambull exp, but the two of them together makes for an excellent expansion! I'm glad you brought up the White Dwarf because without it the Ambull box IMO would be lacking drastically compared to coupling with the WD mission.
That adventure is truly wonderful. I've said before that I feel it was more than good enough to be in the actual expansion box, and it does add significant value to that expansion. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so! Thank you for watching and sharing your opinions.

I just bought the base game snd annual and I think i got one expansion from a store but we'll see if it shows up!? If not, i plan to buy the rules, cards and tokens on eBay then sub the minis will similar ones, such as 40k chaos figures, necrons for the drones and random figures with similar weapons for the heros. This vid was awesome. Looking at getting Blackstone finally at a good price Had the chance to get Escalation win no minis for a really cheap price. Picked the hero I wanted from the pack and also the villains cheap as well. Just need the actual game😀...maybe no respite would be a good one with out minis as I’ve got them. And then maybe pick up Ascension... not sure I’ll pick up the rest as don’t have the money.. So this is really helpful cheers😀

Another fantastic video, very helpful. Due to your content I eventually hunted down the core + escalation and ascention with the annual 2019...My kidney is gone... Anyways wanted to ask if/where can I find this Ambull mission you mentioned in the video?
I just have an itching suspicion that they may squeeze an easy to build primaris expansion right before the Finale. I think the April White Dwarfs BF content is a clue. Why would a Deathwatch Watch Master show up all alone to such a dangerous xenos weapon? If they wanted to use up some surplus push fit Primaris, the Deathwatch coming to oppose The Fortress AND Precipice would be an interesting last minute narrative twist.
Personally, I'm not prepared to make any predictions based on White Dwarf content, which I think sort of stands on its own and is usually just offering ways for people to get more use out of their miniatures. I'm not holding my breath on any last minute extra expansions, but your idea sounds interesting and I would be very happy to be proven wrong!
Hello! Another question - since the card pack expansions are out of print and unavailable, is it still worthwhile/necessary to get the Servants of the Abyss miniature expansion? My FLGS still sells a few copies of them...?
Servants of the Abyss contains extras of the core game miniatures. They are mainly useful for using with Abominable Intellect or in games of 40K. However, there are occasionally times where you can still run out of miniatures using the encounter cards from the core set, and if you have extras that's less likely to happen. You can also use the extra miniatures to do different paint schemes or conversions if you're into that. I haven't bothered buying them and haven't really felt the need to (even though I have Abominable Intellect I don't use the increased spawn sizes in my games).

Dayum I really want the traitor command, but I want it for the minis, and I don't intend to use it in Blackstone Fortress, and just for minis alone it is helluva pricey.
Now, if you are sure that you don't care about using it in the game, you may be able to sell everything else that comes in the expansion, the cards, tokens, and whatnot. Someone may be willing to buy those on ebay if they want to proxy the miniatures to get the expansion components for much cheaper.
Unfortunately, now everything is out of print it's going to be very expensive to get the expansions. It's a shame for anybody discovering the game a bit late.
Lovely video. I am really considering buying the base game and the expansions - as I already have the Dreaded Ambull for use in Kill Team. If one had all the expansions (excepting the card packs), how would you recommend the play order - ie. when should one start the satelite stories of the Ambull, Traitor Command, Escalation and the Ambull mission in BF Annual 2019?
Thanks for watching. The only ones that really matter in terms of order is the core set, Escalation, and then Ascension as that's the main narrative. You can play the rest in any order really (as long as you complete the core set first), but you want to complete the Ambull expansion before playing the Ambull mission from the annual. Generally, I recommend playing them in the order of release - Core, Ambull, Traitor, Escalation, No Respite. If you ever do get any of the card packs, you can mix those in right away.

OK GW are silly they need to bring this all back. Taking it of the shelves is just stupid. Glad i bought the main box recently its so fun but i did not manage to get the expansions.
Blackstone is great fun. It would be nice for them to bring the expansions back for the people that missed them, but it's not the sort of thing they do. At least the base game is solid. There are some fan groups creating new content that you might be interested in - Beyond Precipice is the one to look up.

I think No Respite was a way of using up the last of the easy build poxwalkers and plague marines, unfortunately.

They are really nice miniatures, but it's a steep price for just the two of them.

One year on and most of the expansions are up for sale at £200-£300 plus! I spend a lot on my hobby, but not that much!?

For sure. That's less than 2 minutes per expansion. When I first covered Escalation, it took four videos and was over two hours of content!
