Nice to see helmets are more accepted, these days.
Yeah it is imo an essential for reefs, hoodie at the very least.
All day long - like who drive a car these days without a belt on?
I'm not a surfer but a skier and seeing airbags being mainstream, would this be an option for surfers to keep them afloat and just spin instead of be slammed down rocks?
I feel like JOB helped a lil with that.
@@cedric2516 they already have them. some come built into the wetsuit and its just a co2 cartridge that when ripped inflates airbags on the suit and keeps you afloat. pretty similar to the avalanche bags skiers and snowboarders use.
That ski driver is top notch 🍻
All Hawaiian lifeguards especially NS ones beyond words top notch!
This video could of been 1 hour long
should*
So much respect for the Life guards
Not having Jamie speak in this video is criminal RB😢
Pipeline is so easy for him there were no good sound bites from his interview.
@@domer808lmao thinking the same thing
We need a series following the north shore lifeguards. Must be a wild job
Those lifeguards are the real deal. Thanks for keeping em all safe!!
If the waves don't pound you, the locals will.
Don't mess with Da Hui!
Pipeline is like the toxic ex girlfriend.... DANGEROUS as hell but BEAUTIFUL enough to keep you looking back 👀
Both leave claw marks on your back too.
You've got it backwards. Your toxic ex girlfriend is like Pipeline ... a mob of dudes working a gaping hole.
@@xyzct and you wake up next day with rash
@@xyzct LMAO
Pipe is your ex with borderline personality disorder. Fckin crazy but you just can’t help but want more😂
I remember I went to Pipeline in the summer and the water was so calm it looked like a bay, You would never have guessed what epicness it was capable of in the season. Love Hawaii.
That Mark Healy wave @ 0:54 is so awesome I love the colors!
Props to all legends that continue to charge this beast...
Only because of the crowd in the line up. Plenty of more or as dangerous waves for sure.
Been there on a smallish day, 4-5 feet. The power of the ocean on the north shore is insane. It's crazy to see it in person and how close to shore first reef breaks. I can't believe people charge it the way that they do every time it is hairy, especially with the crowd. It's hard to explain how gnarly surfing is at a spot like this given what lurks just beneath the surface.
There’s no swimming at that beach, you need a surf board to go in that water, super windy. The beach suddenly drops off, close to shore, so waves would hit clos, yeah.
It is dangerous indeed. But the crowd plays a huge role in the statistics. And the amount of people that risk themselves in tricky close out waves down the reef breaking in dangerous spot that should be avoided at all costs, just to get a picture of a surfing pipe experience is pretty mad.
i need more !!!!!
I stayed on the North Shore to surf and the day I arrived at the hostel the owner was giving me a tour when someone ran up to him and informed him his friend had just broken his neck on Pipeline.
I feel like somewhere like shipsterns would be the most dangerous. It’s more remote, the wave is a horrible ugly dog and crashing is basically getting into a fight with sea current and rocks.
i had no idea the water was that shallow, thought had to go to deep water to get those waves
That's how basically all surfs work. The sand banks/reefs displace the water as its pushes over them. The water is higher there because the sea bottom is higher. The height of the wave is usually where it's the most shallow.
pipeline is no joke. I hope one day to visit and watch
No. Its the most surfed dangerous wave that. Thats why so many have died. Imagine if that many people surfed T Cave, or Cyclops, or Ours.
Ok bud. Argue with the grave
💯
@@byronbass5485Shhh, silence peon
o my thats crazy stuff
Well now we got that we just have to get koa Rothmann to wear a helmet too.😅🤙🏄
No but i agree, for its size, pipeline might be in the top rows of the most dangerous waves on the planet
I surf Florida, going to tame Pipe soon, show the locals how to do it.
Yes
Shout out to Hawaiian water patrol!!
heavy video!
Pad up. Stay as safe as you can.
shoulda had koa rothman on this, bro just took a gnarly hit at pipe and still hasn't fully recuperated, he's trying but its for sure going to be a battle where he's gotta lock the fuck in and stop partying to get back
pro surfers are psychos man. can't really expect anything different from the people who live on the edge like that.
Crazy ❤🎉
I watched the full video waiting to see Jamie..
the most accessible for sure
Challenger: I have a challenge.
Red Bull: Not interested.
Challenger: I have a deadly play.
Red Bull: Come sign up
Sincere question: How could Pipe be more dangerous than Teahupoo or Shipsterns, etc. sans crowds?
that's what i thought. Maxxed out Teahupo'o is just the ocean folding on itself. its hard to think that it's less dangerous than pipe
I think it's just that there are so many variables at pipe that other spots don't have. The difference in conditions/swells, getting stuck in caves, crazy rips that won't let you in or out, and sheer mass of surfers jockeying and pushing each other into more and more dangerous positions. Not that Teahupoo or Shipsterns aren't terrifying but those are also spots with channels and rescue skis right there. Pipe is chaos on any decent swell.
Yeah but there no quality medical care close to those spots like there is in Hawaii.
Biggest cloud break days are insane !
Pipe might be the most famous wave in the world. It’s easily accessible and draws insane crowds. Other spots are more secluded.
@@RySomerville believe the reef is still deeper there. less hard impacts.
Not really but the number of surfers, reef involved and time it's been ridden equals highest ratio of injuries and death. For Cali surfers I am sure it's the most dangerous wave in the world, it's the closest good reef break to the west coast of America.
People who sent it without a helmet, will live in infamy.
Red Bull didn't include JOB for comments?
He was too busy counting his cash.
softboard merchant
Yeah...like no JOB in a Red Bull video about Pipeline? WTF?
Given that lifeguards are watching every drop, not the most dangerous. The most glamorized perhaps
One of the most crowded
I've raced motorcycles, raced downhill mountain bikes, and did extreme backcountry snowboarding... nothing came closer to killing me and heavy water surfing. The ocean is trying to kill you and is unrelenting. Those who know, know.
Nazare enters the chat
pro surfers and lifeguards gaslighting and gatekeeping, a tale as old as time
West coast of Australia
I agree. Grew up down south there’s some stupidly heavy stuff down there. Then there’s the Bluff, Gnaraloo and Jakes to keep you on your toes up North.
Filmed from US perspective... what they really mean when they say "most dangerous wave in the world" is "most dangerous place in the US".
Has anyone ever died or become seriously injured there, like paralyzed ?
It's no secret that Nazare is.
Teahupoo тоже хороша....
Big wave surfing is so gnarly, might as well ride a fucking avalanche 😂
Be careful kids.
WTF is the point of the first pink letters in the middle of the screen in the best moment????? COMEON !!!!
7
Is it even a question? I think it 100% has the most recorded deaths, and knocks out the most people.
If Kate bosworth can surf it, I can too!
If as many people surfed The Right in Western Australia as pipeline the death toll/injury toll would be horrific.
dont forget nazare
Tahiti most dangerous
The answer to that question is….NO….come spend a winter in Ireland 🇮🇪 Il show you dangerous waves….pipe’s in the limelight and full of locals and traveling surfers so of course there’s going to be more injuries.. If there was 100 people surfing Riley‘s every day all winter there would be just as many injuries🤙🏼🇮🇪💯%
Nowhere near ffs. It is warm water to start with. lol
umm----no
How many of you audibly gasped while watching this video?
regarding the wave itself, the answer is no. There are a lot of regulary surfed spots in the world much more dangerous than Pipeline
No.!
For the Pros not the fools
Americans being hero's. Great for making a movie yeah?
If you are a regular of these kinds of reefs you will be scarred head to toe. I wear a helmet or hoodie every time I'm out. Your crazy not to.
By the numbers of people who have died there. YES.
Pipe, Chopes and The Wedge have killed or paralyzed more surfers than any other waves.
No
No it's not the most dangerous. It's a nice shaped wave but far from the most dangerous.
How does RedBull do a video on Pipeline and the dangers of surfing Pipeline and not have Jamie O'Brien, F'ing JOB in the video? Seriously? WTF! He literally lives steps away and is one of RedBull's most famous surfing athletes and is one of the best to ever surf Pipe. Almost every pro is this video has gone to JOB for knowledge on Pipe.
Where is JOB...
Uh...He's busy telling everyone wear a helmet as he was knocked unconscious at Pipe last year and almost lost the "water vs air" lung war while injured...though God Bless Him...He never flatlined. He's wearing his helmet now....showing it in his vids...pretty one...Red Bull stickers all over it.
Easy
He's waiting in the closet. Go get 'im! ;-)
sometimes they can't just due to scheduling conflicts
Nah
🤙🌈🙏✝️
Hopefully they pay for this
Not tax payers
Aah shut up, do you know how much money the sport of surfing brings into the North Shore economy?
@CleverAccountName303 who cares
Why should life guards risk saving thrill seakers? Why should tax payers the large majority of them never stepping foot in the this break.
It also brings lots of problems
Lots! My brother lived there
@@jimmyconway8025 many of them are volunteers
Wear a helmet!!!!!
No Jamie making everyone look like amateurs on a soft top? This is sacrilegious. Really disappointed Red Bull. Shame on you. Jamie gives us guys in our 40's something to believe in.
Jesus died on the cross for your sins he became sin so you would be forgiven!! We have all sinned but it we repent of our sins and ask Jesus who is the son of God into our hearts your forgiven. He actually says he throws away your sins into a sea of forgetfulness isnt that amazing!! He is returning soon and he wants to take you with him but most of all he wants to have a relationship with you so just say this Jesus i am a sinner wash me in your blood forgive me of my sins set me free and encounter me!!
