Lauren Ambrose has it all. As far as her acting ability, she is this generations’ Meryl Streep. She can do anything and she is a beautiful woman too. So beautiful with so much talent!
For over 45 years Broadway has been terrified of attempting a revival of Funny Girl because NOBODY can compete with Streisand's legendary performance. Can Lauren Ambrose step up? This video says YES!
I LOVE BARBRA!! but i agree with all those FOR Lauren!! Lauren is a great dramatic AND comedic actress as well, plus she has some va-va-voom in her voice!! wow, i didn't even know she could sing, let alone classically trained. I'm so happy for her, and i hope that I have enough money to get my arse over to NY to see her!! :) i really really want to see Funny Girl on the Broad-Way!! haha :-P
I'm the world's biggest Barbra Streisand supporter and fan...even I have to say that Lauren is going to be breathtaking I can already tell. I can't wait to see her fresh take on the role. I'm glad they got an actress that is completely different than Streisand. Lea Michele in Funny Girl would of been a pointless revival....too much of the same.
I hope they will reconsider and relaunch Funny Girl on Bwy Maybe if Evita with Ricky Martin does well they will see how profitable a classic musical can be
@shpidoinkleboy absolutely AGREE!!! i AM BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED THEY HAVE SCRAPPED THIS! Had plans to see it in LA and again in NYC - just couldn't wait !! Have loved Barbra since I was 10 - Funny Girl was my first!! Was SICK at the thought of Lea Michelle -saw Lauren and said -Eureka - she will be her own brilliant Fanny! The investors would make TONS on this - what a mistake to pull this production - I would happily invest our savings in this sure success!

Great presence, strong voice...She's just been signed to play Fanny Brice in a major revival of "Funny Girl" on B'way. Good choice!!
And you know why this farce never happened? Someone came to their senses.

For 45 years, they were right not to try a remake. There is only one "Funny Girl" and it's Barbra!
