In lived just outside of kirkland lake a town called swastika. 1977-83. Great times. Great place to grow up as a kid. Outdoor rink sponge puck hockey awesome memories. Went to k.l.c.v.i high school back in the day.
Kirkland lake local here, glad you had a good time here and gimme wun is a hidden gem with the best menu in town. Thanks for showing the true beauty of the north.
I worked in the gold mines of the Porcupine Camp (Timmins ON) about 100 miles northwest of Kirkland Lake for all of my 43 year mining career as an underground miner.
Greetings from Kirkland Lake!! Yes the corner you mentioned is a main corner! Two banks and Serivce Canada. There are a couple. Plum Blossom is amazing but has been closed or abrely open throughout Covid. They do some taake out / catering
@@Elatenl Sorry, but it is in fact literally spelled Donair. While they may look similar, they are still quite different. You should really look it up and see what you are missing out on if you have never had one. It's pretty dang good. Here, the closest thing we have is just called a kebab, though it is usually made with chicken, not beef... But my question is ---why are you so passionate about going around trying to correct people on this?
@@Elatenl You seem to think that a doniair is the same thing as a doner. But just like gyro or shawarma, all these dishes are related yet they are not the same. If you are a doner fan what you should really do is just put donair on your list of foods you need to try and one day you can discover that difference for yourself.
I know this is late but when we were young my parents would take us to bennett lake just outside of fall brooks. Would love to see how much it's grown in the last 50 yes I said 50 years.
That was an awesome video as a Kirkland Laker. The town had a lake which was named after a secretary from the mining office named Winnifred Kirkland from Toronto. I am surprised you didn't try Dino's Pizza while you were in town. The best pizza I've ever had. Poutine is great since we are so close to the border and fresh cut fries are a must.
Ken, if you ever get to the Netherlands (Rotterdam) you should definitely try the original Kapsalon one day. That’s sort of a Poutine with doner meat, but also with lettuce and tomato
I like ur videos because they are picturesque and relaxing to watch. May i add that poutine had cheese galore.... holly curds !!! Donair was nice topper.
been watching your channel since I was a kid! I just came across your videos and seen that you still upload is amazing I love the consistency keep up with the vlogs you rock dude!
You were in my hometown? It would’ve been cool to meet you! It’s also really neat to see you visit the places I usually see on a daily basis! Also, it’s called Kirkland Lake since it was named after a lake which was drained and filled with mine tailings way back. You can see where it used to be by going either down Water street, behind the museum, or behind the mall.
Hey Ken, you should have bought a compact air compressor from Canadian Tire when you purchased the screw driver, think they are like 15 to 25 dollars. Great video as always.
Check the batteries in your key fob, may be time for new ones...Leathermen don't have a Robertson screw driver because Robertson is a Canadian invention.
Similar to what we have here in Britain we have take away shops with the meat fries/chips and cheese but we don’t add gravy we have kebab hot sauce and toppings of salad and mayo it’s a tasty meal yours looks good aswell
I was the first like... 😀 Being from Wisconsin (America's Dairy Land) I can't believe we don't sell more poutines. I know you found it in Milwaukee and I've had it in Oshkosh but it looks so amazing it should be a available everywhere. Great video Ken...
i couldnt believe it myself 2 dollars for air , i had to borrow 2 dollars from my daughter cause i had no change , then i realize you can pay debit at air pump , just crazy
Thanks Ken, that was fun. Toburn was your first GoldMine . . . You missed 2 very big one . . . Alamos in Matachewan and Agnico Eagle in Kirkland Lake. You drove right beside them, not sure how you missed it. Thanks, well done and very positive.
Eewwww! I wouldn’t eat that poutine! He dug his bare hands into that cheese and put it on your meal with NO gloves! Who knows when he last washed his hands! Major health code violations right there!
Former KL’er here . Haven’t been home in a long time. Thanks for the drive around town
It's a Robertson screwdriver. Not Robinson.
If Ken say's it Robinson, then it's damn Robinson
Scenery is JUST gorgeous! Thank you!
Enjoyed your visit to this small town of Kirkland and your Poutine meal.Very resourceful getting sleep area arranged .

Rusty is probably acting up due to being depressed thinking that it's being replaced by the camper van.

And just a tip the end of the leather man pliers fits in the red Robby and you can take them out like that if they aren’t too tight.

I like Rusy videos. It feels more adventurous than the comfy van.
Great video - like the stealth camping.
Every now and then I still come across free air

Donair poutine? Hell yes! That looks amazing!👍
do they do poutine in japan

you need to check to see if you need a new key faub or maybe a battery
for it or it could be a faulty fuse under the dash....good luck with that door.

UA-cam Premium.

Rusty been very good to Ken for many years now. Probably needs to be replaced with another Chrysler town country van as Rusty 2. 😊
Rusty 2.0 coming soon! 🤓
We have a gas station in BC called Co-Op Gas Bar and they got free air pumps. The rest of the brand names like Petro Can, Esso, etc all charge.
Here in BC, Alot of the tire places, Especially Kal-Tire will fill tires for free.
crazy no where in my country nz do they charge for air. Thats ridiculous!
It looks like Rusty’s side door the motor could be going or there’s a short in the electrical line to the door
That poutine looked so good.
Ken this was a fun video seeing your interesting adventures. I always look forward to your videos since I never know what adventures you will have.

I have the Leatherman Charge+ that has R1 and R2 bits. Of course being American those won't get much use.

the meat looks like arbys greek gyro
Essentially the same thing.
You get charged HST for air for tire that’s crazy
they have to now charge money for air because thieves kept stealing the copper end after copper sky rocketed in price.
What a fantastic life you have you are very lucky
I really love vids like this Ken, thank you:)
Out east in new Brunswick we pronounce it poo-tin as well not poo-teen. Always found it funny travelling elsewhere how they say it haha
I’ve never seen a silent “e” at the end of a word.
