Spearfishing with the Spearheads - E14 - We Call Dibs

- Опубліковано 5 лют 2025
- Join the crew of Aaron Chasse, Jose Debasa, Justin Baker, and James Ferrara as we revisit one of our all time favorite places to dive, The Dry Tortugas!
We teamed up with Captain Aaron Young and his mate Gavin Mock of Dibs On Bottom Charters out of Key West Florida and we made the run 70mi west in search of monsters....and we found them! As always we want to give a huge thanks to our charter crew and host for showing us an incredible time. We couldnt have done what we did without their knowledge and expertise.
We highly recommend contacting Dibs on Bottom if you are looking for a top notch charter in the lower Keys. They not only offer spearfishing charters but they also offer fishing charters, lobstering, sandbar excursions, snorkeling, and sunset cruises.

Awesome video!! You got a sub from me. Out of curiosity where did you guys get your free diving certification? I'm starting to get into spearfishing and I want to learn how to dive deeper and hold my breath longer, figure I ask you guys since y'all are diving down 80ft no problem lol keep up the great work!!
Andrew at Nautilus Spearfishing in Miami has great classes
Alex Rivas we all got certified from different people but most of us are all FII certified. Aaron is an instructor through FII and he is out of Tampa while Andrew at nautilus is in Miami and he is an awesome instructor and has a great shop to visit. If you have more questions send us an email.
Did you guys rig all of your guns with cable?
Fishingwith Shades not all. Justin pretty much only uses cable though.
sick
50-70 feet or meters?
Sick video guys! What kind of gun did he shoot the big black with?
Fishingwith Shades his custom made banana gun
What is the orange thing on your GoPro?
Pablo Orellana Landinez just orange tape for visibility, and to identify Aaron's gear. He puts it in everything!
unreal structure, where are you guys?
We were in the Dry Tortugas which is about 70mi west of Key West. We also dove some spots closer to Key West on our way back and some footage was filmed there.
that's what we call a hogfish in the Bahamas the first fish.
👑💎
Dont you feel safer now that yall got check by FWC ;)
Have you guys ever thot about going to cay sal? Fishes there are giant and the water not too shallow at the bank
The only problem with this video, it's to short. Just wondering. What's the deal with AJs? Are they bad to eat?
Nothing really wrong with AJs they just tend to have more dark meat and a stronger taste while fish like grouper and snapper are much whiter meat and have a more mild flavor. AJ is also more oily than grouper or snapper so it is actually great for smoking and turning into fish dip. Many AJs often carry worms near the tail as well but once cut out they dont affect the quality of the meat.
Thanks Nolan, I heard something about that years ago and never thought of them since. We mainly went for hogs and lobster. Looking to move back to Miami in a few years. Jonesing to freedive.
