This little video just shows how I start planning for a painting, work on the piece, and then protect it for sale. Check out more of my work at www.angelaband....
I usually wait until the next day before I varnish, but if you paint with really thick layers and/or you’re in a humid, cool area, you may need to wait longer. The key is to make sure your painting is fully dry before varnishing.
Thank you for your videos; they are inspiring, instructional and clear. It takes a lot of time to make these videos and post them: THANK YOU. Loli PS: I hope you are well, safe and healthy.
Do you find that your pastel from your pastel pencil drawing mixes in with your paint colors at all? I like using regular (white) chalk for my drawing as it completely dissolves into my wet paint, but the drawback is you need a fairly dark background in order for it to show up well.
After drawing in pastel pencil, I always "dust" the surface of the drawing with a soft brush to remove excess dust because it can absolutely impact your paint. You could also spray with a workable fixative. But it's not usually an issue for me because I paint in layers, so the first layer mixes a little of the dust in with it.
Love it!!
Thanks, buddy
Thanks for letting us know about your process. How long do you wait between finishing an acrylic painting and varnishing it?
