I find when staying at an IHG property, i always do well at Holiday Inn express hotels. I guess they are just newer. Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn can be dated and such. Never had a bad experience but i just find the HI Express Hotels to be newer and nicer, and usually cheaper too.
The arrow’s behavior is pretty unique. The Wynn Las Vegas is the only only other one I know of that acts like that. If you were on one of the first 5 floors it seems you would have seen the other building as they appear to be connected
Try showing up with kids when the hotel doesn’t tell you they are hosting a horror convention... we have a kid with ODD that loves horror stuff she found on UA-cam and we’re trying to work on age appropriate things. There was a little girl maybe 8 years old dragging a Chucky doll through the hall on a leash. Our worst experience at a hotel ever was at this place.
Great video! I stayed at a 4 star crowne plaza in Seattle last Sept for PAX West, honestly one of the best hotels i stayed in in a long time. Was extremely nice!. It has a 32 story Otis 411 Traction, hoping to go back there sometime for Anthro Northwest or something once this covid mess dies down.
We hold a science fiction convention at the local Crowne Plaza. They've updated the linens and some of the rest and it's rather nice. And our hospitality room is in a suite like that one. Only ours has a second full bathroom. But no kitchen. We bring in a microwave to heat water for oatmeal, but it's mostly cold snacks.
@@bijan148 That's what I thought, but they seem to have dropped the Holiday Inn from the name. At one time, they were "Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza", and it was more of a hotel, rather than the motels that Holiday Inns were in that era.
I’ve definitely seen that kind of shower/tub setup on some older hotels before (it’s actually a retrofit kit that installs over the existing tile and tub). Probably an early 70s hotel, based on what I see. It would be interesting to see what flag that hotel began its life as.
I don't think I would mind staying there even if I had to pay for it. It would depend on the room rate or how many points. The last time I was in Louisville, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express downtown and it was really nice.
I am in IHG® guy and I really want to like the Crowne Plaza brand but it has been a disappointment whenever I stay there. The two properties in St. Louis that used to have the Crowne Plaza brand banner are no more- and every other CP property I have stayed at is just like this one - old and tired. It would be really nice to see some new CP properties built in the Midwest Like you said the new holiday in express properties are much better product for IHG traveler.
All of the Crowne Plaza properties I've stayed in are always gross so I avoid them. It seems that IHG is just kind of ignoring the brand for some reason. Hope they start to revamp them soon!
Crowne Plazas are usually pretty decent in my experiences, there is this one in Plymouth, Minnesota that I always like staying at personally I don't mind that place, I happen to like the overall theme of that place which can best be described as 1980s Nordic Modern, If anything It feels more continental than most American off the interstate boxes, definitely a hotel that is worth checking into (Some pun intended.)
I often get so frustrated with Hotel owners minutes before checkout Calling Or Standing @ my door Banging / YELLING "You've got five minutes to vacate or we're going to charge you for another night"
This hotel was a complete dump the last time we were there about a year ago... we looked out the window and immediate left and went across the parking lot to the Tru by Hilton.
I actually stayed not too far from that hotel about a year ago, it was the Four Points by Sheraton. Terrible experience. Room was very dark and the bathroom had stains all over the counter. Towels had hair all over them. I contacted management and the seemed not to care too much.
Four Points is a starwood property owned by Marriott. To be honest ever since marriott took over the Sheraton brand both sheraton & Four Points has gone down hill. I stayed at the 4Points in Anaheim california and i paid for a 2 queen nonsmoking pool view room and was put in a handicap nonsmoking 1 king room that was extremely dirty and the hotel staff said they couldn't do anything. I ended up going to a Sheraton down the street with literally the same experience. Finally i went to a Delta Hotel which is a Marriott hotel and had much better experience. Overall i would never stay in any sheraton property ever again and plus i got my money back thanks to marriott.
I actually have seen this room configuration before... but not since the 1990s. This is a "boss suite". It's handy when traveling with others to have a gathering area separate from his/her personal space. As for Crowne Plaza, I always find them to be "good enough". Most of the properties are reclaimed/reuse of older, outdated establishments. Crowne Plaza does a fairly good job of making them current and functional though. For instance, this used to be the Executive West. There was another property across Freedom Ave. that was called the Executive Hotel. They both closed in the early 2000s and the Executive Hotel was demolished. This one became a Crowne Plaza.
I stayed at this establishment about a week ago . I went to check in at the desk and they told me that I was not a guest there and they didn't have me on their list , it took them about 30 minutes to find a hotel manager and the new list that I was on showing that I was staying there . Then they gave me hotel keys that did not work and it took about 10 minutes to get from the second floor to the first floor by using the elevator . The elevator system is was confusing because it would skip floors, they had to keep putting the elevators out of order because either the door went and closed or it wouldn't open . Then there was a fire alarm that went off about 2:00 in the morning and I watched hotel guests carry people from upper level floors down the steps in their wheelchairs because they were unable to use the elevator . There were no safety precautions for people in wheelchairs and for the love of God why would you put them on upper level floors knowing it would be hard for them to escape during a fire this should have been on ground level floors . The buffet was awful he paid $40 for two people and you get watery grits with plumps, you get bitter coffee ,and powder eggs . The room I stayed and smelled old and musty and the air conditioner vent was not screwed into the wall . They told us that it was $50 pet deposit for the whole stay and then when we went to check out they told us that it was $50 a day . And then try to charge us $150 for two nights cuz of our pets I don't know what common core Master using but that doesn't make sense . Most of the hotel staff was nice except for this one woman that couldn't wait to see us leave . So I give this hotel a half star and that's just me being generous .
My hotel room review is finally out! Yay!

Holiday inn is getting bette.r
Crowne plaza is getting worse

Why didn’t they give you the top.
I kind of had a similar impression of the one in Springfield Illinois.
That hotel room...I couldn't stop laughing. Welcome to the 1970s 😀😀😀

that “suite” area gives off the same energy as those “strangely nostalgic but unsettling images” videos

Jacob You Got A Suite.
Next video?
So, you traveled in quarantine, huh?
I’ve done the same thing with my family last week vacationing in Virginia.
I’ve done the same thing too. Out West of Chicago in Ottawa, Illinois last month. With my family as well.
I live in Champaign, IL and I travel to Chicago every now and then to clear my mind. I also just came back from Lynchburg, VA
I did too. Went to the Oregon Coast a couple weeks ago.
Got great deal on a hotel room since business is so down. I gotta support the tourism economy.
This place looks a little worn, but it’s nice enough. I’ve never stayed in a Crowne Plaza. Is that still part of Holiday Inn?
Crowne Plaza is part of IHG which is a family of hotels and Holiday Inn is part of it.

@504RoadTrips Oh I see now you are talking about the old era before rebranding the separate brands.
that room reminds me a the clarion/arlington hotel near DC i stayed back in September!, they both look really 70's

Try the Crowne Plaza Newport News, VA. At one time it was wonderful, but the last time that I stayed there (couple of years ago) it was falling apart.
Sad when your newer budget hotels are nicer then most of your more expensive hotels.
Yep

I really love that motor
This would also be a nice family room with a separat room and a 2nd restroom.
I often get so frustrated with Hotel owners minutes before checkout Calling Or Standing @ my door Banging / YELLING "You've got five minutes to vacate or we're going to charge you for another night"
It makes me wonder if the other half was a standard room at one time
I'm with you, Jacob. If I'd paid money, I'd be raising hell. Let's hope they get these rooms renovated soon.

Try reviewing a rkyo soft gloss maxx 3 car wash then soft gloss maxx 5
While you’re there film all the elevators in the buildings.
Most Crown Plazas are dated/tired, or worse...They were probably amazing a half-century ago.
Yep
Great review Jacob! This hotel is mediocre at best! Were you here for Kentucky Kingdom?😸
It you get rid of the closet next to the sink you could actually make it a full kitchen.
Great video
IHG needs to come up with new hotel prototypes for the Crowne Plaza brand
They already have
couch and chairs are great.
7.5/10
epic motor on the elevator
Does this guy actually live anywhere? 🤔
never been in a hotel room with a router in it
Krupp Modded Dover!
