I-10, also known as the Katy freeway, is the widest freeway in the United States. At its widest point it's 22 Lanes across. And no, that is the Marq*E Shopping Center, not the Galleria Mall. It got its name from the big Edwards "Marq*E 23" Cinema that anchors the complex.

Fast Fact: The Marq*E Center officially opened in December, 1999 and the complex was developed originally by Fidelis Realty Partners and Magic Johnson. Yes, that Magic Johnson.

I don't know what it is about Crowne Plaza hotels but most went through a major upgrade about 20 years ago and haven't done much since. The one a conference I go to every year finally updated 2 years ago, but it was looking real tired before that.
But Watch Out! The newest updates assume you live out of your suitcase, NO drawers and tiny closets. Insane.

I had to look to see where this place is. I’m surprised that they have the Galleria name on this place because the Galleria is about 1 ½ miles to the south. But I guess it’s like all of those “Disney Main Gate” hotels that are actually in Kissimmee Florida, like 40 minutes away from Disney World.
We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Houston Galleria, which is right off of I-69. It was only a few blocks from the Galleria. We also got bumped up to a suite. Your room was a little nicer but we had a balcony on a very high floor (upper teens) with a nice view which made it worth it.

504RoadTrips The Galleria is actually a huge area in itself not just the mall. The Galleria area actually refers to the entire uptown section. It also has the tallest building in the world outside of a downtown area. That is the 64 floor Williams Tower.
You are right though this is not even in the Galleria area. Marketing on this place is indeed messed up.

It looks like it may what some consider an “entertainment suite” possibly where people would invite folks up for drinks at that bar area after dinner or a meeting - like if a conference was being held in the hotel. Separated from the bedroom, so that people won’t see your personal effects thrown about from the front room.
I’m also thinking the thing over the front door was a fire annunciator, or a blinking light if the fire alarm goes off

Like how they took two connected rooms and combined to make one suite. Kitchen area was bathroom of one room and entry door walked off in other room. Should have left it as two. Like the reviews!

You came to my hometown. Though it appears we have some better hotels then this. The hotel Icon downtown is really cool. Out in the Katy area is the Omni west side which features a huge lake in the lobby.
Also that is not The Galleria. That is the Edwards Marquee. You are not even in visual range of the Galleria. The Galleria is the 5th largest shopping mall in the US. The area itself also called uptown has the tallest building in the world outside of a downtown area. The 64 floor Williams Tower. The elevators were Schindler with various natural stones on the walls from all over the world. Used to be an observation on 51 but closed after 9/11.
Oh one other thing that particular hotel used to change names at the drop of a hat. Started as a Ramada I believe then starting in the 90’s maybe changed names on average about every 5 years. Except for about 5 it was totally abandoned in there too.

Enjoy your videos. I like hotel/motel rooms that are this size with some extras. Enjoy having a little more that just a bed, Bible and a bathroom. As stated in another post that is not the Galleria across the freeway from your window. From your location the Galleria is about 2 miles straight south of this location next to I-610.

Last year I went to the Galleria to see the tree getting lit. I also saw a mini-concert there with Angelica Hale singing. The messed up thing that happened is a couple days before, I gave the Hyatt at the Galleria area a call, and she didn't say anything about age-restrictions for people under 21. When I walked inside to check in, they told me they did have an age restriction. So I went back-and-forth Westheimer blvd. via bus - because I flew there - and about two hours later, I found a Motel 6 off of the parkway in the western part of town. It was the Motel 6 near the U-haul next to the parkway. I checked in there with no problem whatsoever. Moral of the story: please make sure all hotel staff know their guests' policy, especially over the phone. Otherwise, it was a pretty successful trip won by pretty much a few slats missing on a tall bridge.

In Alexandria VA, I had that similar situation with the thermostat like that, but I think there is a setting to default to use that thermostat.

I just realized that his five most recent hotels are IHG.
-Crowne Plaza Houston Galeria (Houston, Texas) This one was mediocre, especially for the category.
-Holiday Inn St. Louis Airport (St.Louis, Missouri) This one was clean, but in severe disrepair.
-Holiday Inn Wolfchase Galleria (Memphis, Tennessee) This one was amazing!
-Holiday Inn Overland Park West (Overland Park, Kansas) (Tour 2 of 2) This one was good.

Seems so odd to me that if you had a second guest sleeping on the pullout sofa, they'd literally have to walk in on whoever is in the bedroom to get to the bathroom, or the second guest would have to leave the room entirely to find and use a public washroom.....

How far is that hotel from either Houston Hobby, or Houston Intercontinental Airports? I got a best friend who is planning to visit the Houston area, and unlike me....he hasn't been there before, and I am trying to help him find a good (doesn't have to be exactly perfect) hotel for him to stay when he goes to visit his girlfriend.

21 miles/34 kilometers from Hobby, 26 miles/42 kilometers from Intercontinental. I work in the hospitality industry installing and repairing Wi-Fi and I've been in a ton of properties in the area. If you'd like a recommendation based on neighborhood, I'd be happy to help out.

Stayed at the La Quinta Hobby Airport this past June. Comfortable bed(When I could sleep), a decent bathroom(which I was TOO acquainted with) and a 24-hour airport shuttle

Until I saw the bathroom, I thought "Just a few cosmetic things, but I'd stay here". And then, the horror story begins. That room does need a replacement overall, but that bathroom needs to be tops.
