Not just one of Doc's guitars---it's a very special one. It's the one he used on the Wiil The Circle Be Unbroken album where he played Black Mountain Rag. It's the guitar he mentioned when he recorded talking to Merle Travis.
That's just amazing, wonderful, beautiful, really really good. Doc was such a legend and so happy you are continuing his style. He's looking down on you every day saying, "That's good son!" Just for fun, would love to hear you play, "Froggy Went A-courtin' ". Doc could could crank that song out! Thank you for sharing your music. It makes the world a better place. ❤️
You are blessed to get to play such an instrument. Oh my God I would love to play it a few hours. But us regular folk dont get that kind of privilege. To play something like our hero’s great instrument . You are doing it justice brother. Thankyou Billy. Robert H.
It makes me water up, seeing you play this guitar. I did beat you to it though. I wandered down the wrong hallway in search of a restroom at the Salem Civic Center. Approx. 1979 or 80. Doc invited me in and handed this guitar to me. I was a beginner . He even have me a lesson on it. I love that you are carying on his music . I can tell that Doc was your biggest influence by far,, as he was mine. We love you brother. Keep it going so grandkids will know of Doc and of you..
Wow what a beautiful moment in time! I was literally wearing your spring '23 shirt of you in white suit and was listening to Doc when this popped up. Man what a reason to smile!
I've been playing for 9 years longer than he's been alive.... He was born about 90 miles from my home town...Cadillac, Michigan..... any how He's a living legend..... The world is blessed to have him. When he plays, I shut up and listen and learn and Love it!!!
It would be like taking BP with Babe Ruth’s bat. Billy is such a nice dude. Kind of guy that deserves everything he gets because he earned it. I don’t think anyone has put out as much free content as Billy. Seems like everyday or every other day he drops something of some kind in some genre’ of music. How many song do you think he knows.
There were several different brand guitars available from that time that sounded good. I have an early 70s Hohner. that sounds like that. There were a bunch of peope working on stuff and some wood available. Most of us kids could not have a Martin unless someone in the family had one.
This is the one he used on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's iconic Will The Circle Be Unbroken album where he played Black Mountain Rag. There's also a track on that record where they captured Doc and Merle Travis' first ever conversation (Doc named his son after Travis) during which Travis asks Doc what kind guitar he's playing. This is the one.
Some day some young fella is going to have those same feelings when they pick up your guitar
Beyond true!!!!
Wish I was going to live long enough to hear him mature......
@@HankBailey-gs8ue he’s already an old soul.
Also, how could he be better? You’re probably right. He’ll evolve and create his own level.
It’s crazy to even think about but it’s certainly true.
I have,when i picked billys guitar. Wow.
In his honor, HOSS should only be played with the eyes closed. You're awesome young man!
You can’t imagine what Doc meant to me and how wonderful it is to hear that tone again. Thanks, Billy!
