Can you imagine one of those about 120 speaking the Roman language, being a Galilean, not knowing what he is speaking, but there being someone from Rome who understood the language? That's what happened on that Pentecost day.
And another Galilean there began speaking a language (tongue) that was known to someone from Egypt, even though he did not understand the meaning of what he was speaking.
So, I wonder if they all spoke at once. Perhaps this happened at the beginning, but then I wonder if they took turns so everyone could see what was happening. Some things we simply have to wonder about, because we don't know all the details.
I saw an article on an archeological dig within the walls of Jerusalem not far at all from the temple, and this building had an upper room. It was very near to the temple. I wondered if that might have been where they were. I really don't know, but I did find that interesting.
Anyway, when this was noised abroad....What does that mean? I don't know. Does it mean that everyone at the temple area heard the sound of men speaking in different languages? I don't know. Does it mean that somebody heard this and then went over to the people at the temple area and told them that something odd was going on over there? (wherever that was) I don't know, but when they got there the leadership stood up. Did they expect a confrontation? I don't know. Were there noise restrictions? I have no idea, but when the multitude came the leadership stood, and there was Peter.

Acts 2:38……Repent and be baptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

There was no interpretation necessary when the first speaking in tongues was manifest on that day of Pentecost. You see, God gives the utterance. God gave them what to say. When we receive speaking in tongues, most likely every man will get a different language. I have never heard two the same.
On this particular day, God gave the languages that people there would understand, even though the men who spoke to them could not understand the language they spoke. If you speak in tongues (by the definition of 1 Cor 12-14) you will not understand the meaning of the words. If you speak a language you do understand, then you are not speaking in tongues or in a tongue as the Bible defines it here.
I heard a man today say that he was speaking in tongues when he spoke in English his known language and then began to read something that was in print in another language on the opposite page of his Bible. I think he was reading Greek, but that was not speaking in tongues. Now tongues mean "languages" but speaking in tongues as the Bible defines it in 1 Cor12-14 is not what the man was doing when he said he was speaking in tongues first in English and then in Greek or whatever it was he was reading.
I could tell he wasn't speaking in tongues simply by the way it did not flow because his reading of Greek or whatever it was really wasn't that good.
Can you imagine the confusion if God would have given the men the utterances of so many other languages that nobody there would understand? God was going easy on us here. There was enough confusion among those that gathered around as it was. God wanted to be quite clear enough as to what he had given. He had given languages, and what was said was giving him glory, speaking his wonderful works. There is a universal language that all denominations should equally receive with open arms. It is the language of perfect praise.

Yes, speaking in tongues (as 1 Cor 12-14 defines it) is evidence of the Holy Spirit residing within, of being born of the Spirit, of having received the forgiveness of sins by the power of the cross of Jesus. You cannot speak in tongues by natural human ability alone. It is impossible, because it is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit. No human ability alone may produce it. It is an impossibility. You must be born again to speak in tongues.

I understand your point family and I can see what your saying but the EVIDENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ❤️ because tongues will cease and fade away, Satan can duplicate speaking in tongues and deceive but he can’t duplicate love ❤️
