Installing a graphics card is a pretty easy task, that is when everything goes as planned.
If your system has had a previous card installed and the older drivers are causing issues then this video should give you the methods I use to prevent and fix display driver problems.
The advice given is specific in the video to the Radeon RX480, but the methods used are suitable for most if not all graphics cards from AMD Nvidia and Intel.

I've been scratching my head for the past 4 days due to windows boot black screen and tried installing latest and older versions of AMD radeon due to the newer windows update...Finally tried all the steps which you mentioned and issues have been fixed voila!!!

I never knew my GPU wasn’t working correctly after a install, I just needed to update my GPU driver but this video helped me a lot with my AMD software it wouldn’t even show up on my laptop before but now it does thx a lot!

I've been having trouble with AMD's newest driver since its release. I currently have AMD Adrenalin 2020 12.2.2, but I've been trying to install 12.2.3. Every time I attempt to install it, I get a completion, but it tells me the driver didn't install completely. I've tried installing several times from the installer downloaded from the site, the installer from the application itself. I even made sure nothing was running in the background, but I haven't been able to install it completely no matter what I did.
The new version is a bit problematic for some
@@mikesunboxing I have the 12.2.2 and it's even more problematic to be honest. On 12.2.2 all games used to freeze during launching and ended up giving me black screens or simply crashing. On12.2.3 games run smoothly but after 10-15 min my HDMI signal just get lost and the only way out is by hard restarting the PC.
Do you know any way to fix that ?
Was the card working perfectly in the older drivers? If so I would remove the new ones and reinstall the old ones and see it the problem goes away

@@mikesunboxing I tried deinstalling and reinstalling the drivers but it didn't work. But later yesterday I deinstalled the drivers and reinstalled the 19.12.2 version without changing any configuration on the andrenaline amd 2020 software, and everything's running fine now! Seems like the software was the problem! Thank you very much!!

I have the exact same problem, but deleting my GPU Cache didn't helped. What did you do to fix the problem?
@@hansmuller1933 you have to go on safe mode and go to device manager and uninstall your graphics card driver under display. Restart and then download the driver again. Previous version if anything.
Your card is mostly dead if it displays only black screen after updating drivers

Thanks for putting this video up. It helped with the direction of getting my Radeon RX 570 card working. AMD instructions didn't include completely uninstalling the previous drivers.

I have the same card, I need help I followed the entire video step by step and I have all drives for the card but it won’t display when I plug my HDMI into the card, it only displays when I plug it into the MOBO. I have a Ryzen 3 2200G (maybe it’s defaulting to the integrated graphics on the APU) please help

@@JackKoz204 Did you uninstall the previous drivers using the DDU Uninstaller? For example, since installed this card, I have had the need to reinstall my PC. And the PC had no problem finding Radeon RX 570 card.

So, I've been trying to install my graphics drivers to my rx 570 and when I finish the installation and try to open the Radeon Software it says that there's no driver installed (I've installed.the latest version) and when I try to open a game it says that there's no OpenGL so it can't open.
Did the DDU method and reinstall help? I’m guessing not?

I also have the same problem with the rx 570
I installed my Graphics card its plugged into the PSu and PCi-e 16x riser. The pc boots and the fans spin on the card but CPU-Z and every other means of looking for the card say its not there. any suggestions?
check the riser connections? Does the card get recognised when inserted directly into the motherboard?
you have a designated ddu setting that prevents windows update downloads for gpu driver, so no need to pull put your ethernet cable.

I had a few hiccups.
1) Nobody showed or it is new in DDU, when you 1st run it an option checklist pops up. I figured it out but unexpected.
2) When I opened my computer I found the motherboard was small enough for a mini tower. I have a full. Argo my RX 580 was a tight fit and blocked off half of my sata connectors. I have 8. 6 are 3Gb and 2 are 6Gb. So only 1 6Gb left. Thus my new backup clone is on a slow sata. I see a CPU and motherboard in my future.
3) New 750W PSU and cables. New GPU and new HDD 2Tb (matches old drive). Connected all exterior cables under desk. Turned on power and nothing. 😫 Took it out again and started the paperclip power supply test with just the molex connected for the case fans. PSU OK. Plugged things 1 at a time back in. Everything powered up. 😄 It was one or both of these. 24 pin connector not fully seat and/or power switch on front panel connections loose. Who ever came up with that LED lit power switch on the front panel was a maroon. Oly thing on the front panel and not enough wire to disconnect.
Put it all back together and under my desk and all is well.

I see a lot of people still having this issue in 2020 , well thats a no for me wont bother with AMD gpu . Too many issues lately .

This is a solution that I found after 2 weeks, 8 hours per day troubleshooting. You would appreciate it if have gone through the same pain and frustration that many including me have experienced it.
I have an XFX RX 5700 XT. I just downgraded its bios to 5700 (the opposite of what "Tech YES city does" in one of his video; I appreciate it). Downgrading bios is the only solution for now. Please do it on your risk. I copy and paste this comment to share with others since the past 2 weeks was super frustrating for me and at the end I wanted to have at least a working PC. I am using the latest driver published on 2/3/2020 (I guess).

This helped with installing a new AMD card. I will say that AMD 's site quickly removed my old driver and pointed to the new driver. No issues at all.

Hello i am using new asus fx505dy which has RX560x graphics card, The graphics card is disappearing from device manager and the Radeon settings.I tried to troubleshoot it by uninstalling using ddu and installed it again but same story the graphics Card is dissepearing what could I possibly do to fix this issue?

Love ya Mike! I'm upgrading a PC with a new PSU, HDD Clone Backup and a new GPU. Going from Nvidia to AMD RX580 (max upgrade gpu for motherboard and cpu). I know 1 at a time is better but my accessibility is limited and painful to repeatedly connect the Desktop (floor).
I have downloaded DDU and the recommended RX 580 driver already. I watch many videos but they all left things out. Your is the only one that gives me confidence. I have an electronics degree and used computers since 1980. So I am not a moron.
My big concern was when I use DDU to remove the Nvidia driver and shutdown. That the HDMI port out of my AMD will display without the proper drivers loaded. More concern because my motherboard video out has only VGA and DVI-D. Neither work with my TV/Monitor. I can buy a converter to HDMI but for 1 time use... Errr. Tell me I can do this without doing that and it will display from my new GPU.
Please respond since you explain this the best of anyone. Even DDU has no help documentation.

the ports will display without any drivers they will adopt the microsoft basic display adapter profile to allow an output - hope this helps

As soon i install the driver for my xfx radeon rx570 i start to have blue screens that pop up and crash my computer. I know its amd drivers or a bad card cus when i disabled my card using device manager the blue screens stops.

dhanush dhanush Maybe you can try doing an in place upgrade from the windows 10 media creation tool page.
When it asks if you want to upgrade choose that option - and backup anything important before hand just in case!

When I hit 4 for Safe Mode option, It tells me to put in my Windows code to get in. And now it wont accept it? Says incorrect psswrd. How am I suppose to get in?
are you using your pin or password? In safemode the password entry defaults to the password rather than a pin number, if you are using one that is

Good day sir, I follower every steps in this video, but after uninstalling the drivers, my monitor won't detect my GPU, but it detects my integrated GPU. I tried installing the AMD software with using the display of my iGPU, then installed the drivers for my GPU in the device manager (My GPU is detected and says its working) and then I restarted my pc. While my pc is booting, my monitor would detect my GPU but my screen keeps turning black. My screen would appear for a second and would return to black screen for 5-15 seconds. I could use some help. I have a AMD Radeon TM M7 340 inbuilt in my hp laptop. I updated all the drivers amd even the bios. But all the games runs smoothly for 5 mins and then the fps drops like something. In the amd radeon settings it is mentioned in GPU compatibility that the AMD Radeon TM M7 340 does not meet the minimum requirements (for all games including even a small game). My laptop has a 16gb ram and vram is 4gb. I'm pretty sure it does meet ths minimum requirements for most of the games.
Please note: all my games were working perfectly fine an year ago. I used ubuntu os in my laptop for over a year and only a few weeks ago reinstalled windows and that's where the problems started. I bought this laptop 2 years ago used Windows to play gta5 and other games for an year changed it to ubuntu and used for an year and a few days ago changed it again to windows.

Did this and i'm still stuck at " detecting hardware" with radeon software. What do i do ? I can't possibly reinstall windows , i didn't back anything up and got too much on it.
Whenever I try to install the driver it stops randomly and says something went wrong, what can I do to fix this?
update windows a few tinmes and a few reboots and it might kick in
I feel like this might solve my issues but I can’t boot into safe mode because I get the a blank screen with the input timing error message.

i have Asus rx580 8gb TOP DDR5 256bit card after some time i play some games it freezes and it says gpu driver has crashed i went to the store where i bought it they uninstall the amd radeon drivers and install the older version and they said dont update the latest it might be solve the problem but it hasnt
small games doesnt affect it but games like for honor battlefield 1 where u play in ultra mode it starts the problem in medium settings havent seen that problem but my recommended settings for the game are always on ultra so my pc supports it but i just dunno what to do am tired of this problem

What about your PSU? Maybe to weak? Or is it old? Then it might not deliver as much Watts as it promises.
Holzwurm _HD everything is brand new 15 days old all the pieces i went to the store and they wanted the rx580 back so its on progress when its reaching 70 its shuting him self down
So they said the graphic card has a problem i am waiting a respond :)

When im trying to install amd gpu drivers, when it starts downloading my pc freezes and i have to do hard reset no matter what. Only happens when downloading gpu drivers. I did clean all previous display drivers. Any ideas?

Hi mate..i have an rx570 and i cant find the way to make work the video card drivers. Its the same problem always.."no amd graphics drivers is installed or..bla bla bla" do you know any solution? Cause i was all day looking for some help but nothing worked...its frustanting..:'(
Install the latest chipset drivers for your board then all the windows updates then the GPU driver. It that order and you should be good to go
