  • If you have a drawer in your garage, basement, or workshop where you keep screws, nails, and other small parts, you could start eating chicken livers until you have enough empty containers to store them all, but there's a better way.

Neighbor came by yesterday wondering if I had a particular nut for a bolt he had. Saved him a trip to the hardware store. He wondered about how I built these so I sent him the video created from my $25 Fine Homebuilding tip. What's I think unappreciated by the commenters is how nice the vinyl is. All the crud from whatever you put in there doesn't contaminate the drawers. It's easy to clean and the slightly curved bottom lets you ease out small parts, as they don't get trapped in a 90 degree corner. As to standing on end instead, that doesn't work so well for this application, but in another drawer, these downspouts cut to the depth of the drawer are the perfect size for lightbulbs stood on end. Typically the light bulb packages you get from the store are four to a pack which is great for inventory but not so great for the homeowner. Stored, base down, you can easily read the info on the bulb and pick out the one you want.

i was thinking the same thing.. also quite a bit of work.. the thing that i like about the original idea is that i can the screw bin to the assembly location and not have to bring the entire drawer

This video proves that there is a better way. Chicken liver containers are far better than this ill-conceived contraption.
