Inspector Wexford - Shake Hands Forever

- Taken from the VHS cover:
Another Ruth Rendell Mystery which finds Wexford doggedly pursuing a course of action which increasingly isolates him from Inspector Burden, his wife, Dora, and all those around him.
Convinced he knows who committed the murder of Angela Hathall, he has no evidence to support his theory. He is doubted by friends and colleagues alike and begins to despair as he believes the murderer will get away with it.
Will the famous Wexford instinct and perseverance win out in the end? - Розваги
I find myself addicted to British videos - at least most of the older ones. The garbage on our TVs today is ridiculous. Thank you from America.
Awesome british tv love it Debby from South Africa - my Mom was from the UK passed last year in the heart of the Cotswolds that she loved 😢❤ thank you UK these programmes keep her alive for me ❤
Love British TV. Even older shows are so much better than what is on tv now.
I do agree!
I agree to an extent. Shows like this were of a comparatively higher standard then too. Remember that this was airing at about the same time as “Charlie’s Angels” and the “Six Million Dollar Man.” As always, you have to be discreet about what you choose to watch. There is still great television, but given all the dreck that’s on just cable alone, it can be harder to sort through and find.
Do try Frost... one of the early treasures!
@@inkyguy "Charlie's Angels" and "Six Million Dollar Man" were American. "Six Millon Doaar Man"" was watchable as fantasy, "Charlie's Angels " was designed for the brain-dead. British television from the 1960s on has produced many truly excellent series .
Yes. I saw Tom Wilkinson first in in the bedroom with sissy spacek, then saw him in this. Both good turns for him. Also went backwards with Colin firth (master of the moor), knew of him after he went Hollywood. As always, Wexford is the North Star, unwavering but also human. Rendell wrote great stories.
This is probably my third time around enjoying the Wexford mysteries. And I still love every minute.
what a sad bastard you are morse was 10 times better than that arrogant wexford
IloveRuth Rendall, I love Inspecter Wexford and I love British shows. What more can I say!
Inspector Morse, Vera, Endeavour Shetland ... The list goes on. I'm with you!
Me too.
Kavangh in the same vein, all addictive, enjoyable :) :)
Don't forget Morse.... a veritable treasure!
Ditto on that .
From this American from Florida, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I assure you, we in America, are sick of the loud, disrespectful and violent media to which we are subjected. That is why I am here enjoying your downloads.
How right you are ! Media are feasting on every morbid detail, how many deaths, what is happening in ICU etc., etc. I can't bear it any more , while my husband claims that we must be informed...
@@user-ji9jd1gq9z That's the wonder of a democratic vs an autocratic political system - you have the right not to hear about what is going on with your fellow man or woman without affecting my or anyone's rights.
This American also from Florida and I concur!
What Mary Kay said.
From Norway, I agree 🇳🇴
Great plot and great actors... and all this without loud background music, I can actually hear and understand every word. No shootouts, no chainsaw massacre and no flood of blood... nothing but highclass investigative work and some scenes that make us all smile - when Waxford falls for the attention of a nice lady.
I really enjoy these Waxford epispdes... just as much as I enjoyed Mr. Nettles as inspector Barnaby. Thanks for the upload 🙋🏻♀️ best wishes from Germany

It's WEXFORD not WAXFORD you retard
@@dennisculyer634 Thank you so much for your kind words, Dennis. It's very obvious you are a gentleman and a very intelligent person.
Typos are sometimes very funny, sometimes they are just a nuisance - mostly for those who made them.
Since English is not my first language nor is it what I'm speaking in my everyday life, I'm okay with a typo every now and then.
As for the "retard" - I think you could do better if you tried. I'm afraid, I'm not all that impressed but everyone makes their own choice how they present themselves to the world. If this is what you want the world to think of you, it's fine with me.
Best wishes, Lisa
You're so terribly polite while putting someone in their place...👍🏼 Their comment is gone, but your response remains.
Are you Scandinavian by any chance? (Norway and Finland were robbed of a Eurovision win this year, imho)
@@msmltvcktl Hahaha, I must have had a lovely day, I'm usually not that polite with bullies. Now that I've read my reply again, I can see how much more effective kindness spiced up with a bit of sarcasm can be 😂. I'll keep this in mind.
Nope, I'm not Scandinavian, I'm Bavarian from the beautiful alpine region. We are not world famous for being overly patient and kind when we are attacked - must have been that once in a lifetime 😂 Best wishes from the mountains 🙋🏻♀️ Have a nice weekend 🍄
Thank you I enjoy these shows - thet are so much better than the rubbish dished up these day.
We have started rewatching 'The Professionals' again and it's still a GREAT BRITISH SERIES and Doyle is still my favourite!!!
Thanks Paul
Inspector Wexford Outstanding.
Morse, Frost, Dangliesh, brought me here.
Nobody can do mystery like the British. Thanks for the upload.
Oh Sweds can believe me.
Absolutely no one else. And they never will, not even close.
Kamila Bracka Swedes are dark!😍
@@33kaja If the Swedes are better at crime mystery than the British, I'd love to watch some Swedish mysteries! Could you help me to some good ones? Thanks!
@@mfjdv2020 Yes. Please do put some links in the comment section Kamila Bracka. I may do a search for some next time I am looking for a show.
So enjoy these stories. Wexford is a man after my own heart. Never gives up.
I love this character because he seems like he could give up if things get tough enough , but he always changes his mind naturally.
Don't forget to try Frost!
@@patgee2139 ok. Thanks. Next up after Wexford.
Just again Tom Wilkinson - tv acting at it's best! So natural, believable, understated (also Christopher Ravenscroft, George
"She was supposed to meet us at the station. Didn't bother to turn up!" "She was dead Mrs. Hathall!"
This was my reaction!
Very tightly written. Lots of irons in the fire. Amusing characters. I go back to this one every few months. It’s an evergreen.
I just love this episode. It was full of suspense right down to the last two to three minutes! Didn't expect the twist at the end.
It is absolutely great, I agree! Almost all the Wexford episodes are great, but I love this particular one, because of the humour (essential in any murder mystery) and the truly excellent casting and acting on all sides.
This is absolutely a stunning and intriguing case. Loved it! Thank you for sharing these episodes.
Thank you Angelina 🙂
I just finished reading this book and was curious to see how it was cast, etc. It was very well done. Most of the dialogue is word for word from the book. Even though I knew what happened, I was completely engrossed in the ending.😊
We concur with all the positive comments concerning your generosity in sharing these with people worldwide. Very unselfish in our books. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. From Calgary, Alberta Canada 🇨🇦 🎉🎉🎆
Hear, hear! Sending much love to Canada!
One of best twists I've ever seen.
I discovered Inspector Wexford a month ago... such great plots, acting, locations. Thank you.
This Episode and 'A Guilty Thing Suprised' are what British (...AND USA!) acting is all about!- believable characters, tragic situations, JUSTICE( EVENTUALLY) DONE!
Great show ⭐️⭐️👍👍👍💙💚🤗
I love Tom Wilkinson's acting. Just a few minutes in, I had to say how tickled I am to see him. In everything from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, to The Full Monty, he is a delight to watch.
Tom Wilkinson can be seen here on YT as the odious Mr. Pecksniff in a TV serialisation of Charles Dickens's " Martin Chuzzlewit " - not to be missed !
A fantastic actor Tom Wilkinson sad passing just before New Year
Kept me guessing right to the end… delightful mystery
One of the best Wexford’s. Enjoyed it again today. Thanks.
Firstly, thank you for this series...secondly, Inspector Wexford’s nephew eventually became John, of “John and Mary” fame, the hilarious couple in the tv series, “Fr.Ted” 😁..also, a very good cast...and that fine actor, Tom Wilkinson 🤩
What! You mean Howard? Great! I must watch Fr. Ted at some stage.
I think this is the best episode in the whole series. Thanks for posting.
Thank you Mary 🙂
Agreed!
Wow didn't see that coming!. Thanks for the closed captions.
truly enjoy Inspector Wexford videos. thank you
God bless
I love these British Mysteries well done well acted and that ending that can't be beat as plots go, thank you for uploading
Apparently the Swedes make even better crime mystery series! I am very much looking forward to enjoying these Swedish series.
14:55 George Baker's delivery of that line is perfect. Makes us laugh for a second at the total absurdity of the situation.
RIP Tom Wilkinson
I truly LOVE THESE UK SERIES, PLS SEND US MORE....THANK U. --- USA.
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. I found myself cheering when Reg cornered them. Thank you. Please post some more episodes.
That really is a sign of a successful episode, if you were cheering at the end! :-)
Excellent. I am living in Mexico, always looking for something in english to watch. This was terrific. Thank you.
Brilliant! I absolutely love this very fine series! Many thanks Paul , you are treasure, cheers from California California!🙏🌁♥️😷
Grew up.watching this series in London many years ago. Such memories of home. Thank you.
So many twists and turns I got totally confused at one point! Great show!
I lived in the UK for 10 years off and on,so when i see allocation that i know.... It brings back memories ☺️ thank you as it brings a smile to my face
I am new to this series, and very impressed with what I’m seeing …Thank you 🙏❤️👏👏👏🎄
I too prefer to watch these shows over and over because I am so sick of today’s shows.
thanks paul goddard for loading these and so clearly..gear series
A masterpiece. Thanks for posting.
Thank you Chris 😊
One of the best episodes.
Brilliant!!!!! Wish there were LOADS more!!!!
Like Midsomer Murder Mysteries, Peroit & Ruth Rendall it is all educational detective work finding out facts & strategies and NOT about throwing blood, gore & dragged out murders & loud friken car chases to stupidty. Even Crave has way too much shit like that. Intelligence NOT sensationalized Murder. Wondering why America is rife with criminality, is a laugh
I love watching the actors & the roles + sets/settings feel very “alive-lived-in”. The reverence for the source material & care taken is so evident, esp on re-watches once the story is familiar enough to not obscure the craft, since excellent storycraft is most successful when the labour is almost magically unseen, overtaken by the strength of the telling of the tale.
Excellent episode full of suspense. It's been some time since I last saw an episode for Wexford. Thank you Paul for sharing.
Excellent! Thanks for posting
I recall seeing this wonderfully crafted episode of "Inspector Wexford" some time ago on Seattle PBS (KCTS 9) and found it most intriguing and entertaining at the time. Watching it again this evening was just as enjoyable as the first time I saw it. Thank you so much for downloading this episode....
I concur totally with all points you make.
Thank you Paul. I love most British series. Thank you thank you thank you.
An excellent episode without doubt, Enjoyed every minute throught to the very end. Thanks Paul, for finding this one. Must be one of the best.
Such a wonderful, convoluted story💕
Agree totally
The paper said that the woman had been found in her home strangled. The police were treating it as murder. Really? Y’a think 🤔??? Brilliant deduction!!!! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🙄🙄🙄🙄
What a tangled web. Loved it!
I have binge watched all of the Inspector Lewis mysteries, now moving on to some new discoveries...so excited!!!
Just wonderful,thank you.
not many are in Ruth Rendell's class for plot creation. thanks for the upload.
Hi Paul,
Hope you are now feeling much better-thanks for this excellent Wexford episode thankfully available here in the Republic of Ireland. Well laid out story even if a little complicated by the end. Keep up the good work!
I am from South Africa and I really do like all the British Crime Drama series. Well done.
That twist at the end got me. 😁
The mother in law…she was supposed to pick us up at the station, she didn’t turn up!
Wexford … she was dead.!
I think she was a cranky old blind lady in one of Frosts episodes. The voice!
And what an excellent actress ...!!
Seen her many times through the years. First time in the "Ashtons" as a mother in law.😊 Loved that tv show: Family Ashton.! Long time ago. And the Onidin line. Anyone remember ?
A good story is timeless. Thanks so much.
Thanks 😊 for uploading Insp. Wexford for my American entertainment needs. You see I love ❤️ British Who done its 😇 you have more brain power and less weapons. From the mountains of Utah and my 💕felt thanks🌎from this side of the world 🌎 May you feel our appreciation!
The British do nice, tidy little murders, not blood and gore all over the place. And they don't kill off all the suspects until only the guilty party is left standing. My library is full of British mysteries.
You are Right on Target 🎯 like 👍 a English Archer ha ha! Something serendipitous is that I found this Upload One year later and enjoying it again! It is coming back to me… God Bless good writing and good Honest Coppers!
Great! Thank you for these movies. And at 2 and a 1/2 hours, they closely resemble the books, which is a nice change.
Excellent! What a twister at the end. Just started watching this series and I love it. George Baker who plays Detective Wexford reminds me of the American actor John Wayne. They both have the same physical stature and sometimes look abit alike in the face. But, that's just me, maybe no one else thinks so.
It's 'Chief Inspector Wexford', and no, I don't think he looks at all like John Wayne.
@@mfjdv2020 To each his own.
Thank you so much, Paul !! I love rewatching these old Wexford episodes - they bring back fond memories from the past.
I do like Reg's nephew Howard , great story Teller , learned from the Master.
I am very grateful for these films :) Before that, I didn't even know the main character: D I like old crime novels, I read everything I could find: D and here are such pearls :)I don't watch a lot of movies, I don't think contemporary cinema is for me, but I have seen all the adaptations of the novel A Christie. I know, after reading her books, it's easy to guess what the ending will be, but I have some sentiment. The drama for me are hollywood productions with Poirot in the lead role, no embarrassment, characters, distortions or director's visions, but probably because of the American mentality. Again thank you very much :)
In respect of Agatha Christie's excellent mysteries, I never find it easy to guess who dunnit!!
Brock’s “silence translator” Sgt is a hilariously sweet touch. (A wee bit hunky too unless I’m imagining it?) But I love this episode partly for its stuffed roster of excellent supporting characters representing some fun varieties of classic British eccentrics.
This was excellent. One of the better Wexfords
George Baker is exceptional in this episode!
I said the last one was the best but I think this one was better!! He is so intelligent and I love that he is faithful to Dora
Fantastic Indeed!!!!
Good to see Tom Wilkinson in his "early" days.
Is he the one who plays Robert Hathall? Excellent actor.
As behaviour and character goes, I like the way Wexford can push back, with a pause, a query or line. Way to be assertive (takes notes)
I remember watching these as 2 or 3 part episodes. We had to wait for the next one and the anticipation was great
Wow, what a great episode. Thank you so much for taking the time to upload this..... 🙏
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful drama, I really appreciate your time and patience downloading this,. Please keep safe and I hope you are well with this virus, thank you again love Shellyann XX😊
Just found this...missed it the first time...thanks.😊🌼
One I haven't seen and guest starring Tom Wilkinson and Julian Firth! Thank you.
thank you !!! truly enjoy the episode!
The older shows depended on story line. New shows just depend on gadgets and car crashes.
British TV is the BEST!
Great show great determination
Another quality episode. Thank you.
Thank you so much, Paul! Greetings from Paris, France.
Excellent series!
Wow! What's not to like?
2.25:34 hrs well spent.
Many thanks for the upload.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it so much. Too many people on here moaning that it's slow and takes too long. Weird.
Thank you, many many more please!!!!!
Thanks so much for upload P G... love the Wexford series...so appreciated👌🏽
Great story. Great acting. Thanks Paul.
A bit convoluted but interesting. A surprising ending. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, it gets a bit spun out with added entanglements, which become obvious when you see it at one go. Seen in instalments it would work perfectly well, though. Very good acting all round.
Thanks so much, , Paul. This is perfect for a snowy Sunday! Have a great day.
Cheers! 🇨🇦❄
That's wonderful to hear 😊 Greetings from a wet and windy UK

This was such a good episode. I could only work outside parts. Thank you.
She was supposed to meet us at the station and didn't bother to turn up and Wexford says she was dead, how funny is that:):)This woman makes me appreciate my old mom even more:)
Yes, Robert's mum is truly awful isn't she?
Thank you so much for this uploading.
I really enjoy this wexford episodes. Thanks Paul ;(
Very enjoyable indeed. Thanks for sharing.
