    Brain, flip the deflector over and it sits on the same place as you normally sit it. It will now be higher and then you can set the charcoal basket on it to grill.

    I have put a grate probe as close to the temp. gauge as I possibly can on my bronco and it consistently runs about 50 to 70 degrees lower than my grate probe connected to my thermo works. I don't pay much attention to the bronco temp. gauge.

    • @MadHorseBBQ
      @MadHorseBBQ  3 роки тому

      Yep agreed. The temp gauge pretty much just tells me that the grill in warm/hot.

    Just missed getting the small one for $124 clearance out at Walmart. The guy said if I’d come an hour earlier I’d have gotten it. 🙁

    Do you know if the charcoal basket will fit the regular bronco? Looking for a bigger basket for longer cooks.

      Hmmm I’m not sure on that one.

      Steven email this guy. He does a bunch of custom baskets for things. Not sure if he does anything for the Bronco but I know he has 1.

    What did you have your damper set at to maintain 250-275?

      The exhaust was all the way open and the intake was a little less than half I believe.

      @@MadHorseBBQ … weekend hung smokin 2 rib racks , hung 2 chicken halves, then a pork butt, 2 bolts leaked grease etc n left stain on orange. Gonna remove those and bead. Don’t think I can remove top tank myself and bead entirely. Just the bolts. Other than that the Bronco is beast mode and enjoying the set and cya again in an hr type gig 🤘

  • @drdrew3

    Are you confident that RTV sealant doesn’t give off toxic chemicals? I know there are high temp formulas used primarily in automotive gaskets. But “high temp” only signifies that they won’t outright melt. The offgassed chemicals would be harmless in a car engine but could introduce exactly the type of toxins your burn in is designed to eliminate. I’m not a big worrier but inhaling volatile petroleum products is universality harmful.

    • @MadHorseBBQ
      @MadHorseBBQ  3 роки тому

      Hmmm I guess I don’t know the exact answer to that. But I’ve used high heat RTV on other grills and I’ve never gotten sick. But I might look in to it.

      @@MadHorseBBQ Carcinogens don’t necessarily make you feel sick right away. They cause damage that leads to cancer down the road. Just wanted you to make an informed decision. Even if the the risk is small it is avoidable. Happy grilling!
