Saiki adopts soft, high, almost airy voice in rare Band-Maid songs, but you may hear her do it more often in acoustic setting. The intro is Saiki singing in unison with Miku, so it sounds very different.
The MV was filmed in Arashiyama area of Kyoto, where the bamboo forest used in filming is very famous. Also the temple used in filming was Hourinji, which is located very close to Arashiyama train station and on top of a mountain that overlooks all of Arashiyama area 😊
During the making of vid Kanami dropped her pick & her kimono was so tight she couldn't bend down to get it. Mincho stood giggling as the backing track played on until a crew member picked it up for her :)
Kanami said, "Please pick up my plectrum." All the crew members said "What the hell is a plectrum?" She said, "Well, Gary calls it a plectrum. I mean my pick." See what trouble you can cause with made up words like that, Gary?
It was their older record label. Their current label is Pony Canyon. Maids said that Band-Maiko was the toughest OMV they've ever experienced. They had to wear kimono for nearly 20 hours to film this OMV. This type of kimono is as tight as wearing a corset.
The Maids are not only masters at genre melding, transitions, riff production, structure and execution... they are also masters of cultural melding. Maidiacs are MAIKOACS, too! 😆Thx, Alexa!
Gion is the Geiko (Geisha) district of Kyoto. Unfortunately due to the terrible and disrespectful behavior of some tourists over the years they have now enforced a tourist ban there. Tourist were constantly harassing the Geiko and Maiko.
The whole concept is just genius by Kanami. I know all about the Wagakki Band, but this is the Band-Maid take on mixing traditional and the band's music.
Hello Alexa. The MV was filmed in Kyoto and Saiki and Miku sing in the dialect of this ancient capital of Japan. Gion-Cho is a brilliant introduction to Japanese culture and Japanese rock. The Band-Maiko album, which was initially an April Fool's joke, has become an essential album for the Maidiacs. But maybe we've already told you that, sorry. Thanks Alexa.
Hey Alexa! 🙂 Thanks for doing these Band-Maiko Vids. "Gion cho" was the only song written just for this project. There are 5 other songs on the Band-Maiko EP. Like "Secret Maiko Lips, they are all re-arranged versions of Band-Maid songs. "Tora and Tora" - "One and only", "YOLOSIOSU" - YOLO", "ansan" - "anemone", "Akasimahen" - "Awkward" and "Screaming" - "Screaming". They are all well worth a listen on your own. Just a beautiful album / April Fool's joke! That was great, Thanks! 🙂

Sung in Kansai-ben (Kyoto Kansai dialect).

Gary are you crazy!? 🍺😬
@RogerChance5309 Not that i'm aware of. But then i'd be unaware if i was.🤔

Gary, you were running so hard to help her out, but that damned crew member beat you to it. 😄

Wagakki Band mixes genres too. But their sound is more elaborate and reminds me of theatre music while Band-Maid takes me back to good-old Japan.
Are the bows on your sweater deliberate? Thanks for the reaction!
Edit: What a coincidence, we worship the same goddess!

This one's full of "Easter Eggs"! as well as Secret My Lips.
Thanks for the reaction and of the two videos I also prefer this one. I think part of its appeal is the slower tempo.

@@80mtn And "Umemisa" means Apricot MISA :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 For the longest time I thought 'Tora and Tora' was about Miku's cat. Apparently I was wrong. But it's still a little funny. 🙂
@@80mtn Lol. I can see why you would think that.😁
Hi Gary. You could have written for Dangerfield.
Thank you for reviewing this most excellent song. And video.
That's Miku-chan in the song intro.
Miku singing in unison with Saiki.
Can I say I really liked that?

There is a whole Band-Maiko album, just only 2 videos. Part of the beauty of this song are the actual lyrics. They are very poignant
