My wife has a great idea. If you hang peg board from the end of that shelving you could have tools there handy to the entry door and to the work bench. Keep tools there that might not be used often at the bench but you want somewhat close by. The peg board will also help keep things from sliding off the end of the shelf.
I LOVE hanging pegboard in my garage, craft room and sewing room … there is SO much to be said about VERTICAL storage where you can SEE what you have and where it is.
You may want to consider anchoring the frame to the wall near the top of each back railing. When there is weight on it it may be tipsy. You could attach. the two shelving units together also
Right?! When Olivia was so cute and little- miss those times. I just watch old ones and there they all are. My grandchildren are having their own kids now. Time goes so quickly.
every trip to town for visiting suppliers costs a lot of time and money in fuel and has to be maximised for benefits and reduced in number and yes provides opportunities for communication with others and a coffee shop visit of course. Cant wait to see Brutus with the house pets and interacting together. great work on the corners and allowing chickens to roam and find bugs. totally agree colour isn't an issue with shelving when you can get utility and savings from them. adding outlets now great idea along with storage and organisation of tools absolutely essential. Bet Olivia is a firm friend of Brutus lol
I'm glad Brutus is doing so well with the chickens. That is tough to master as their nature is to go after flighty things that move a lot. God bless all y'all!
Love getting to see some happy puppy behavior in Mr Calm Brutus! He is amazingly observant and observant! Oh! And the exterior barn corner covers and red rack builds went very well!
This type of dog has a double coat and would rather lay out in all weather than in a dog house or bed. They are bred to protect flocks but the only way to teach them to stay with the herd is to raise them in a flock from the time they are weened and trained by the alpha dog to behave and not leave the herd. Sometimes you will hear the alpha disciplining a litter of up to 6 puppies and they are yoaling and crying. These trained dogs are much more expensive to buy than a puppy but a sure way to get one that will behave and not get out on the road. Never being inside and spoiled by a human is really important. They should never be given the status of a pet. Once they learn their job they can be relied on to protect your animals to the death from predators on the ground and even winged ones such as crow and will bark at strangers as well. I like the fact that a good one will display a very clear message that you will be attacked if you go over the fence by barking and snarling but if accompanied by the owner they are all good and will wag the tail with no aggressive behavior.
Brutus is doing quite well with the chicken. What a great disposition he has. Nice to see the barn coming together. Closer to getting the barn done for the farm animals.

Good Day from Kamakura, Japan! 🇯🇵 Hello Lumnah Acres Family & Friends! Well, it’s a rainy Tuesday so I’m stuck indoors to unpack some newly bought garden supplies. 👍🏾🤩🐶
We have the "same" Home Depot shelves purchaced in 2019 for a garage and tool reorganizing effort....Well, 2020 came along with a desire for a more serious food and essentials larder in an enviorment of growing shortages, increasing prices for everything sickness prepsration related, and a semi-unsure guaranteed income. That set of shelves got turned into garage based larder shelves. In late '21 we were reassessing the larder, garage organization, and tool storage. We decided to keep the set of shelves being used for the larder as larder shelves so we would have minimal worries about how how much weight we might put on a single shelf. We are very pleased with what we got.
Morning y'all! Just to share, with my 50 by 70 shop that has many large sliding doors. On the outside, I have rebarb hammered into the ground for extra protection for the doors during high winds. I have pvc over the rebarb for looks and to protect the metal. You could match the color to your barn.
Good morning Al & Gina! Brutus looks so soft to pet, and he’s comfortable with the work noises from the drill and hammering. I’m so glad you got him for protecting the critters. When are you going to start garden seeds Gina?
Good Morning Lumnah Family. 🌞 I love everything you are doing with the barn. Make sure the latches on the pig pen are extra strong. As Jason at Sow The Land says 'I don't trust no pigs.' 😂🤣
Good morning Al and Gina! Hopefully the garlic will survive and after you get the chickens moved they will prosper! The red shelving looks so sturdy and went up with ease. The inside of this barn is going to be so efficient. Good job Al! Hugs from N.C..❤
Brutus is a beautiful pup…he will be an excellent LGD and I agree with tge love you show him it won’t hinder him knowing you care… Love the shelves…like the idea of plywood on ends for hanging stuff…keep things off the floor space…loved the video god bless guys ❤
Good morning Al and Gina and Miss Olivia. Brutus is so calm around animals. So sweet. Well Gina hopefully the chickens didn't get your garlic. To bad those corners were dented. Shelving is a great pop in color for barn. Love it!❤😊
Brutus will be a wonderful breed mix. We had a full blooded Anatolian shepherd and he was one of the best dogs we've ever had. Sadly we had to say good bye to him last year which I still get emotional over.
Gina, streams like in the video is my spring joy!😊 here in Michigan we expect snow as late as May. Our anticipated last frost date is May 19th 😮 Spring IS my favorite season😊I have peppers popping up in the trays. I always start in February next is tomatoes. Brutis is adorable 😍 Al the barn is looking great I can't wait until you are able to get everything done.
Ha guys, love watching the barn build. I never comment BUT, I had shelving just like yours and I butted them up just like you did BUT being so close you have created a dead zone in that one corner, you have the room to pull the shelf all the way to the door opening that will give you enough to slip in there for better handling, just an idea, that's what I did. looking forward to future things. Grampi
I like the new shelving! A while back you asked what color to paint the work bench and I was leaning towards red. Now with the shelving red I am convinced the work bench should be red as well
Brutus is chill...lol 😂😅 The corner trim went up nicely, may as well get er dun in the better weather. The shelves are awesome, they'll hold a ton of stuff, or 5 tons😅😢 Love ya'll ❤
Those little dents in that metal trim you were working on could have been easily removed with a flat (hardwood) block of wood and a flat surface to work on. Or you could use some common body repair tools. Don't let it drive you crazy ... but, by the time you see my comment, you have already put it up.
I remember what you said about the "barn cats" when you got them. We all know what happened with that. Going to keep an eye on Brutus as a farm guardian/barn dog. Sure is a good looking pup and obviously intelligent.
I love this video. Those shelves actually look really really good. I’m not fond of the color red at all but those don’t look bad to me. Nothing matters they’re not mine lol looking really good you guys and I totally think that you should put an outlet right next to the shelves or in the shelves on the wall obviously so that if you’re charging any of your tool batteries or car batteries or anything, they can be on the shelf out-of-the-way charging at a designated charging spot and then you have all of your wood shelving tables to do woodworking, and projects and stuff like thatjust an idea my name is Danielle let me know maybe in the video if you end up taking my idea… I watch every single one of your videos

To make it easier to fill the feed bins, you might be interested in a "Kik-Step" a step stool on retractable wheels. It can be put aside when not in use and is easily "kicked aorund to whre it is needed.
I like that idea too. Al's idea to just pour the feed bags directing into the bins off the tailgate to the truck could work too except for super windy days and pouring down rain. That ladder would be a good back-up system. Have a great week!
An outlet behind the shelves would be nice, like if you wanted to put egg incubator on the shelf, or something else that would need a pace on the shelf that needed a place to sit.
Next building project should be another greenhouse (like on the old property) so the chickens can’t get at your garden & so you can have fresh food in winter
