    To everyone who is reading this: I just watched The Assembly, and without spoilers, it was the most joyous thing ever! I am SO, so happy to have watched it and so happy and relieved to have been wrong about it. The question in the trailer had me scared, but it was actually edited for shock value and it didn't play out like that at all. His answer was wonderful! In fact, all of his answers were wonderful, he was wonderful and so were the interviewers! Big, big kudos for this beautiful show! Please watch it. It's a delight! 💖

      I am unsure.
      It feels like it’s unethical. That normal audiences should have space and patience who are neurodiverse, they shouldn’t be exploited for clicks and eyeballs.
      Saying that - the little I’ve seen - Michael Sheen seems so gentle.

    • @ninab9969
      @ninab9969 19 днів тому

      @@cryssparkels8549 Why would it be unethical? Everyone is there out of their own free will and at least part of the production team is neurodivergent too, just like the participants. They literally want to be there and participate in it because they want to ask interesting questions and even showcase their talents (later in the show, a few of the participants sing beautifully and recite poetry). They want the world to see that neurodivergent people are just people like everyone else with talents and dreams, that they are smart and capable. To suggest that they would be exploited by this program is doing the program and the people participating in it a huge disservice. I would know. I am neurodivergent myself and chose to watch this because it supports people like me, because it's nice and because I like Michael Sheen. Many people who are neurodivergent are mostly independent, own houses, pay taxes, have friends and romantic relationships. Many others need more help and assistance. But we are all people who can make choices and have free will. We might just express ourselves differently.
      One question on The Assembly centers around how people who are neurodivergent and generally people with disabilities can get more work in entertainment. That's because we WANT to work in entertainment. Again, no exploitation, just free will.
      This is the website of the production company that made The Assembly for the BBC (www.rockerdalestudios.co.uk/). I suggest you look at their 'About Us' page, because there they talk about the fact that they're a disability-led company. I also strongly suggest that you actually watch the Assembly and start thinking of neurodivergent people as the interesting and complex human beings that we are who just want to be treated with respect like everyone else and have a public voice. The Assembly gave us a public voice, but this is just the start. We need this to happen a lot more frequently.
      P.S.: Michael Sheen, who is indeed a very kind and lovely person, is also in a two-part series called 'Best Interests' on BBC (www.imdb.com/title/tt10714820/). 'Best Interests' also hired many people with disabilities of any kind as actors and crew. Its famous writer Jack Thorne is autistic and lives with chronic illness. Lately, world-renowned genius author Neil Gaiman, writer and show runner of 'Good Omens' among many others, and close friend of Michael Sheen has also opened up about being autistic. I would hope that this and The Assembly will help you in seeing neurodivergent people differently.

      I misspoke. Best Interests actually has 4 episodes. I couldn't remember the number of episodes exactly, but it's very good. Also very sad, but totally worth watching and raises many questions and addresses things that our society really needs to talk about.

    I don’t see why everyone is so upset about the first question. Both adults or not, it’s got to be a bit weird dating someone so close in age to your daughter right? How did his daughter feel about it at first? Did he automatically see Anna as younger when they met or did he never even notice the age gap? Did he ever get mistaken for Anna’s father by people who live under rocks? Is it strange having children now, some two decades after having his first child? Is it strange knowing that you and your daughter could become parents at the same time? Do they feel weird thinking about their future knowing that he’s likely to die decades before his wife? Just because they’re both adults and the relationship is all “by the books” doesn’t mean that its not an interesting dynamic and something that people are curious about

      His father? 😂😂 Are you joking? Never mind that he's not that kind of person, but if he wanted to he could have a different someone every day, there's a whole fandom out there that would gladly jump his bones, people have literally written stories, multi-chapter stories about the fantasies they have about this man, stuff that would make a confessionary explode...I honestly don't know what could be more obvious and banal than a woman falling in love with him. Fame and appearance aside, he is one of the most interesting, charming and generous people in the world, he could be ten years older and twenty kilos heavier, it would always be worth it

      I agree with your stance, I think it is a question worth asking and I think it is a fantastic use of autistic peoples lack of caring about being socially uncomfortable. This dynamic will be very interesting to find out more about, as an autistic person myself I've been wondering these things ever since I found out about their ages. I think the comments saying this is a "rude" question are missing the entire point of the interview, which is to ask these uncomfortable questions. This interview is not supposed to be about neurodivergency, the interview is about Michael Sheen.

What can you do if you are chosen by a beautiful, funny, smart, Swedish goddess, other than say, I'm yours, do with me what you will? And viceversa. Imagine dealing with the average straight man for years and then meeting Michael f***ing Sheen. That guy is almost too good to be real and the only question is how he managed to spend 5 minutes vertically in his life...

      @@liliana.f888 the usual argument is that people who have a large age gap tend to be in different stages of life, and people question why someone who is older and should have it together is chasing people who are much younger than themselves where there is a higher chance they are more immature. its less to do with the younger person not being able to make decisions for themselves and more to do with painting the older person as predatory/creepy as nobody their age will have them.
      the nuance that most people miss is that people mature at different rates in life - there are 20 year olds who have been forced to grow up early and are extremely together for their age/know what they want, and there are 25-30 year olds who still act like they are 16. also as you get older the age gap means less and less...on the face of it 42 and 30 is much less weird than 30 and 18 despite it being the same amount

    • @liliana.f888
      @liliana.f888 2 місяці тому

      @@Ericb1957 Yes, although there is always a good dose of misogyny and paternalism here, as if women were naive creatures easily manipulated even when they are adults and independent. In the reverse situation the narrative would have been different. It's stupid in general, and it's even more stupid in this case, because she's obviously a smart, badass woman, and he's a famous person, so everyone can see that his love life has never included particularly younger partners. Not to mention the fact that in Northern Europe people become independent very early. Personally, I come from a less modern country than Sweden, but at twenty-five I had already had a serious job for five and had been living on my own for six. The people I got along best with were at least five years older than me, especially men who tend to mature much later. Hanging out with guys my age most of the time felt like babysitting. When I met my special someone, he wasn't that much older than me, but his background made him much more mature than his age. But even if he had been 25 years older than me, in this crazy world where meeting a good person who makes you happy is a miracle, I certainly wouldn't have given up that miracle because of the age difference!
