Just curious. WHY would anyone bother to 'thumbs down' an entirely technical video about how to remove, clean and/or replace a tank pre-filter!? HAHAHAHA!
I'm sure you have cured it by now but I have 93 field master with a 4D56. I'm also here in the Philippines. I was running into a problem with losing power intermittently especially after running for a few hours ( the fuel heating up ). The problem ended up being the rubber fuel lines and clamps attaching to the engine compartment fuel filter. As there is no lift pump before the injector pump I was getting a suction leak so it was basically running out of fuel under load. Replacing the lines and clamps seems to have cured the problem. Has anyone out there installed a lift pump on one of these? if so what is a safe fuel pressure to run into the injector pump without adversely effecting it? I enjoy your videos. Keep them coming
Had the same problem ... put a transparent pipe in the feed line .. it showed small bubbles coming from the connection at the top of the tank .. replaced the filter pipe unit cured it ..
Your comment confirms my suspicions that a pump may help. I have a new BMW E30 pump that is supposed to generate 44PSI. Video on that coming fairly soon. Have to finish editing the round headlight conversion, fuel filter replacement (which already made a huge difference) and 2nd intercooler install videos now! Hehehe
I have a 4m40 2000 and live in Nicaragua, is kind of complicated to look for parts as well. The majority of junkers work with 4d56. Do you have a video on how to replace the fuel pipe to the tank. Mine is rusty
If you can't find 'fuel line' metal tubing, I once used the largest brake line metal tubing I could find to replace the fuel line from tank to engine in a 1959 Triumph TR3. I think I did the same on a 1963 Land Rover. Then just use rubber fuel line to connect the ends. ;-)
Hello Tuner, I'm having the same issue with my Pajero 2.8; a noticeable loss of power at higher RPMs, pulls alright from 1500 up to 2800, and then as if I'm capped and no more noticable acceleration no matter how much I put my foot to the floor (used to go over 4000 RPMs just fine before). Did you get anywhere with this issue ? I read somewhere in the inlet/outlet lines of the IP, there is some sort of a mesh that can be clogged. I wasn't able to identify it though. I thought this might help. cheers.
Thanks VERY much for such a detailed post. No. I haven't gotten anywhere and it's very frustrating. I have lots more power due to the mods, but yes...about 40% of the time under acceleration, it stutters and fades. I was also wondering about the injectors and if any performance ones are available on the market. I look forward to your reply! Thanks again...
Hi , Me my self had the same issue on my 2005 Mitsubishi L200 Warrior , I thought that the problem is with the pre-filter but it turns it's not , so I just threw it away because it hard unlikely to be an issue , in another hand i am considering add a small electric fuel pump into the tank on the diesel feed line , but I don't know what kind I could use & neither it could affect the seals on the fuel pump or not.
That could be. In one of my videos I show adding a BMW fuel pump inline. The best thing about it, is that if I ever run out of fuel, it immediately charges the system, which obviously saves battery power and starter motor wear.
That's a strange problem. If you have a diesel, the pump produces the same pressure as long as it's getting fuel. If you have fuel in your tank, a dirty tank pre-filter wouldn't change power based on up or down hill. Up or down hill could only affect power if you are very low on fuel.

pre filter looks easy to remove and put back. maybe. LOL.
@@tingvictoriano6517 It is VERY easy.

Thank you very much for this message! I'll definitely check into this. This MAY BE the problem under heavy load after everything is hot!

Thanks much for the post. When you say 'same problem', which are you referring to? Mine has MANY. LOL
Maybe you should put an in line lift pump to compensate for turnt up fuel. That will help the IP a lot, I think.

will definitely get my tank checked too. and maybe cleaned too if dirty. thanks.
You bet

Check the water drain on your fuel filter. If it is leaking it will allow the pump to suck air.
THANK YOU. I'll be looking at that after my breakfast here in about one hour. CHEERS!
wow! very helpful for 4x4 Lovers. ;)

Try Seldrado Auto Supply for Original Mitsubishi Parts. They can ship it to you from Makati City which would be much cheaper than overseas..

The guy above you--Willie Peter--seems to have an idea. Keep checking in...
Not sure 'throwing it away'--especially if still ok--was a terrific idea. ;-)
The fuel pump seals may need changing. So basically, get the fuel pump serviced. That's a common job on these engines once they get up in age.
Just had a dyno run done on mine and I was told I’m running out of fuel at the pump. I was told to get a 4-6 psi inline pump
4-6psi because any higher will blow the seals on the fuel pump
That could be. In one of my videos I show adding a BMW fuel pump inline. The best thing about it, is that if I ever run out of fuel, it immediately charges the system, which obviously saves battery power and starter motor wear.

May I ask how your back seat is modified
The rear seating...the seat itself? My interior has been stripped of many nonessentials, but otherwise, nothing is modified.
@@offgridislandfamily My third-row seat is facing the driver’s seat and not on the opposite side of yours
@@1cctung Ah yes! You could have either. I am sure yours are the more expensive option.
