    Great idea. I live in a small town (200 people) and they have decided that the older folks shouldn't go to the grocery store, as much as possible. So they delivered 2 boxes of food. One box was 2 plastic grocery bags of potatoes. Well there is only my husband and me so they will go to waist.. so I froze some mashed potatoes and now I'm going to try your idea. Can't wait! Thanks.

    That's genius! I've just been flash-freezing a bunch of it, and breaking it up before permanently freezing. This seems like a much better option! Thank you so much for sharing!😊

    Many years ago, when my husband and I were young and raising children, my Dad brought me a 100 lb bag of potatoes to help out. That's when I discovered making hash browns for the freezer. It never occurred to me to pack them the way you did. I used a hamburger press and made round ones. But, I like the ease of yours better. I currently have about 60 pounds of potatoes to process, so I'm going to try them your way.

    This is awesome. You made this look so easy. Another recipe i followed had way more steps. Idk if my process was too slow, but i found my hashbrowns oxidizing which made them look very unappealing.
    I will be trying your method and see if i get some better hashbrowns. Thank you!

    Great Video! I'm freezing my Hash Browns right now. Can't wait to try them out with some Breakfast Sausage and an Egg Sunny-Side up. One Tip: If you want to save some money, I would use Wax Paper instead of Parchment Paper. Just don't try and cook with the wax paper or it will melt the wax and possibly catch on fire.

    • @LittleVillageHomestead
      @LittleVillageHomestead  6 років тому +1

      You are wonderful Mattee! Thank you for the info. I have a local butcher who gave me a big roll of butcher paper FREE!!! I nearly fell over. You are right about wax paper saving money. When I do buy the Parchment paper, I get it at dollar tree. It is good too...

    • @LittleVillageHomestead
      @LittleVillageHomestead  6 років тому

      Awe, You are not a nerd... You really only have to par boil them to freeze them otherwise they will turn brown and look funky. if you make them fresh you can use raw taters.

    do you pan fry or deep fry and do they stay in one piece thru the cooking process? Thank you.

    • @LittleVillageHomestead
      @LittleVillageHomestead  6 років тому +5

      I just pan fry them. and they will loose their shape but they stay together quite well....If you want to keep the shape, then before you put them together, add in an egg white and mix it in real well...Thank you for watching...

    Hi Renee, how do you COOK hashbrowns crispy not oily

    • @LittleVillageHomestead
      @LittleVillageHomestead  6 років тому +3

      use very little oil and a very small amount of butter or you can use the famous copper pan with no oil and they will be crispy.
