Yes, they are a bit high in the hopper. However, as someone who has designed products, I am betting the designers set that height based on a calculated volume of food delivered per day to ensure at least a few days of warning. I let mine run down, and based on Maji's portion and kibble sizes, we had over a week of warning time.
