    Hey Kage! Avid Medieval Dynasty player here, YES you can set up a village sign so you can fast travel to YOUR VILLAGE now. i recently learned this-I had to unlock/and build the Village post which is under your hand crafting wheel to craft decorations (It will be under the banners tab on the hand craft wheel) then once you build it, run to the Kings Herald and ask to name village...i think but you can always rename it when walking up to the sign. Wherever you place the sign, is where you'll spawn when fast travelling. I hope that helps! Also, your firewood usage is as good as the homes it needs to heat: weaker material homes require LOTS of firewood vs stone homes use less firewood. Insulation helps too, but not much if its wattle/log house

    The mistake I made in my first few playthroughs was trying to go too fast and recruit too many villagers too soon. Eventually I had a baby boom and ran out of buildings. My current playthrough I started with two villagers, one in the wood shed and one in the excavation shed, each with their own house. The first few years I did a lot of things myself. Let the woodcutter get logs and if you turn on fast crafting, it just takes a few seconds to make planks and firewood. This gets your skills up fast. As soon as you unlock resource and food storage you should build them to reduce micromanagement. Also upgrade the woodshed as soon as you can.
    For the first year I did all the farming and crafting myself and within a short time I had my farming, extraction and production skills at 10. Picking up sticks will get your survival skills up really fast. After a few years I had built pigsty, barn workshop, sewing hut and kitchen, but still did all of the crafting. I built the farm shed and employed 2 workers for my second spring, but put them in their own houses. It's a slog at first, but worth it. Also once a villager reaches skill level 10 I rotate them into a new skill set. I gradually recruit new workers but don't marry them off until they have at least two level 10 skills. This happened around year 5 this playthrough. I also am not worried about getting a wife too early. It's better to have my skills as high as possible so my heir is born with high skills. It's also best to get older workers in the early game because as the second generation starts working the older ones start dying off. I am in year 30. I have 27 workers, fully automated, many have 3 skill sets at 10 so I can rotate them where I need them. I make everyone do the apiary and market stall because those level up fast, even with a 1 skill level. I only have 37 buildings, mostly houses, lots of room to grow. I have a new generation apprenticing and taking jobs and they are so skilled their kids should be amazing once I let them marry. The trick is to build up a surplus of resources before you recruit too many people and don't let them marry until they have built their skills. After 5 years I only had to work on my diplomacy and hunting skills, and the quests. Now at year 30 with 4 market stalls I am a millionaire and my heir is turning 18 with all skills at 10.

    Hey Kage,
    Sorry I forgot to mention... make some daub and insulate the stick houses to lower the firewood consumption. I'm not sure how much it reduces it, but it does help.

    Moving along Kage. I'm glad you completed the King's Quest. You could have gotten more salt in the mine at Skauki.

    Check your storage shed to see if you still have the items you gave to the herald. Sometimes I found that the quest was completed but the items not taken. That might have been a bug that’s been fixed. In the winter time as you run to and fro from your village, pick up stones and the loose sticks as you go. It’s amazing how quickly you can collect a good amount and it doesn’t take much time to grab them as you pass by - certainly the stones which are so easy to spot in the winter. By the time you return to your base you can easily have 50 of each.

    I agree with the meat being salted for winter and having less animals. It's what would have been done to properly prepare for winter in medieval times.
    Also, you can hunt the animal spawns until it greys out, and the animals will re-spawn the next season, so long as you don't put down buildings or roads near their spawns (as with the bear, roads etc will remove the spawn).
    The greyed out spawn is just for that season for that spawn area. All it means is that there's no more animals for that season for that particular spawn.
    Thanks for the videos Kage 😊👍🏻

      The only thing is, if you're building next to animal spawns and hunt them out, they will not come back- if its just for hunting, i find that the animals come back every other season ex:wisent and deer prefer to come back every spring if i hunt them by autumn

    • @Charlene-1988
      @Charlene-1988 День тому

      @Nicole.T121 yeah exactly. If anyone wants to keep a spawn for hunting, it's best not to build near it.
      Ah ok, I don't hunt a ton, so I thought they came back the following season.
      I didn't realise there was a difference with each animal. Good to know. Thanks 👍🏻

    a little tip when getting your villagers to increase their skill: You want to set them up on stuff they can craft/gather quickly. The more per day they get of something, the quicker they will increase their skill. So for your hunters cabin, put them on getting meat or fur (since they get more meat/fur per day than leather) so they will level up their hunting skill up more quickly. It sucks at the beginning but the faster you can get those skills up the better off you will be a few years down the line. This will be especially important once your villagers get pregnant and cant work for 2 years.
    Or what you could do is get 2 hunter cabins down, set one to meat and one to leather. Once you unlock the next tier hunters cabin you can put all 4 of the people in that single building.

    Some advice for you: if you want to build and keep your villagers to keep warm during the winter, i suggest you that you should focus on logs mainly and not turn logs to fire wood. It might sound crazy and unrealistic but logs provide a lot of warm for your villagers, plus you can have extra logs to build things you need as well.

    I just finished a play thougth of this a week ago, best settings I changed was making each season 10 days long. Felt amazing, was fully ready for winter when it showed up. Everything lined up in terms of everything, if that makes sence ~ as if the game was made for 10 day seasons. BTW, animals respawn each season, is an issue if you expand your days like I did.

    • @Nicole.T121
      @Nicole.T121 День тому +1

      yes! this is how i started out was about 10 days is a good estimate for length. Once i had built everything and had a family, i switched to 3 days becuase i wanted to get my heir to grow up faster lol. I am currently on year 11.

      @@Nicole.T121I did 4 or 5 day seasons on my first big playthrough and only played until like year 6, this time I’m doing 3 days and I’m around 8 years in. I think this’ll keep me entertained longer at least 😆

    A 5×5 cabbage field takes 25 fertilizer and gives around 200 cabbage. Let it rot for around 80 fertilizer. May not be the most efficient, but enough to replant 3 times. Flax / cabbage/rye rotation

    Kage, you said you shouldn’t be doing the work and you want others to do it (villagers). But if YOU don’t do the work you won’t get the points to put into your buildings and unlock new buildings

    Kage, making stamina potions in the herbalist hut is so OP. If you assign a worker, you can collect heaps of dandelions and chicory. I made 30 at a time and I use one for travel and high stamina tasks.

    If the durability of tools is based on hits, then it takes 7 hits to mine one ore node with the stone pickaxe, and it has durability 70, you can mine 10 nodes. It takes 5 hits with bronze, which has 200 durability, so you can mine 40 nodes. So it's essentially quadruple the durability in practical terms.

    I highly suggest putting your points into the knowledge skills so you gain skills faster. Otherwise it may take ages to unlock things.
    Don’t forget to buy a large pouch for extra carry capacity(you can wear a pouch and backpack at the same time)
    I also think you need to do the work yourself to unlock the technology so make sure you’re helping at all the workshops on occasion.

    Kage the stats are really meaningless. I still think you should small talk to people find out what they wanna do to make them super happy and they will level way quicker couple of seasons they’ll be level four level five and so forth for stats just because they are a three in extraction, doesn’t mean they’re gonna like mining. It may mean they want to chop wood or mining. I always small talk people and don’t even care about the stats because they may have a three and a three but they’re only one to like do mining anyways good luck and also when you do need money remember every season you can buy the fish from the guy in pesto Villa cook them in the sick hut and resell them to the vendors you’ll make tons of money

    you are definitely expanding too fast for them to keep up if you don't contribute. When i do my playthroughs i do everything the first 2 years after that, then they usually can keep up with keeping resources stocked up

    Hhmmm...have you ever considered Talking to your crew/villagers ?...there's been times when standing near one of your workers they tried to tell you what they needed/wanted but you were too busy/talkative to take notice...
    Just wondered if you might be interested..you seem to want to make them happy/more productive...
