I remember well hearing this song when it was released, I was a teen and lost 2 young friends tragically and home was a place of gloom and then wow, it uplifted my soul, my mum loved it too and we'd have the volume up so high singing our hearts out. I know the lyrics are more about a break up but to us it was about getting through a time of grief and heartbreak. Beautiful song, beautiful singer, beautiful voice. We have to take into consideration that the background singers didn't include Gloria Estefan and that the song sounds to be a step down. He had also been singing this song for 7 or 8 years at this point and he was creeping up on 40.

Jon Secada had such an amazing voice. I saw a more recent performance Jon did of this song in Rio (in 2010), and unfortunately, his voice just isn't the same. His voice now seems to have a more airy, less full, and weaker quality than it once did. I'm not saying it's terrible, just different than it once was. I guess we all get older. :(
Actually this was better than all the shit he does now. Shit as in the super low key vocal performances where he cheats his way through any remotely challenging part. I don't know if he's scared to hit higher notes (Even if it's a much lower key) or he's trying way too hard to preserve what's left of his voice at his current age but it sounds weak and tired and unappealing whenever he performs now. Go back to him singing this live anywhere between 1992 and 1994. He sings his ass off like no one's business. THAT's the Jon Secada I'll always remember.
