George was the main supplier to Gene Gotti + Angelo Ruggerio (and previously to Quack Quack's smarter brother Salvatore who died in a private plane crash). George got acquitted after 2 mistrials while Gene Gotti and John Carneglia got 50 years in 3rd trial in 1989. Patty Defilippo was in George's crew until Patty got "promoted" in 1999.

It's weird that a made man would 1) have a construction job, and 2) have to take a public bus to get to it.
The whole thing is bizarre
The job I understand. Most of them are on parole and have to show legitimate and gainful employment. Plus it shows up on taxes. Doesn't mean they work full time like the rest of us.
The bus seems bizarre to us non-New Yorkers but may make sense to the natives. If he lived on Staten Island I'll assume he had to take the ferry to Manhattan (there's no bridge or tunnel, right?) and connect by train and subway to wherever his construction site was. Probably would save time over a car due to traffic and he could nap on the way. Unless he was using a pass his movements would be unrecorded but a car might be tracked. He might have kept a car somewhere on the mainland. Plus these guys like to hide their ownership of vehicles as much as possible.
Who knows, even wiseguys fall on hard times
The simple answer is, it’s not worth bringing your car into the city, it’s easier to take the express bus. You can sleep on the bus and its Comfortable. Actually, the smartest thing to do.
Most of them barely make a living.

A "runner" used to be someone who went around for the bookies collecting cash and or betting slips to a central location, so that they could keep track of how much was money was bet and how much risk exposure was out there on the street, with the volume of different bets on basketball, baseball and the big kuuna of sports book the nfl. Don't know what a runners position is in today's digital world.

Yeah, back before the internet, I new a bookie who had his runner drop off the NFL and college football betting card each week, I would simply circle the teams I was on and put the amount I was betting beside each team and put all the money in an envelop which the runner would pick up. The following week the runner would bring the new betting card and any winnings I might have had!

I believe that a "Runner" collects the bets placed by gamblers and brings them in. In my old neighborhood we had two known "Runners" and locals will place bets with them and if the client won, the Runner would give them the return on the bet.

No they wouldn’t wack for skimming they would just put him on the shelf and turn his action over to another friend.
