Love your videos Jay. Watched a number of them already from other parks. I went to Cedar Point in 1989 when Magnum first opened, I didn't think they could ever build any coasters taller than 200 feet. Boy, was I ever wrong, lol.
There have been recent rumors that CP is going to build a 500' coaster (they're not). It gets to a point where you have to ask, "Why?" Sure, they'd have a record-breaker, but at what cost? "More" doesn't always mean "better", whether it's height or inversions.
@@jayducharme Good, that would be insane. But I've heard that they're doing some work along the shore of Lake Erie. I think maybe another wood coaster less than 100 feet, maybe a twister style ride would be a perfect addition to the park. Maybe in 2020? I'm hoping this is the case, because that's my kind of coaster that I would ride.
Showing my age, I remember when the only structures that were above the treetops were the big Ferris wheel, space spiral (which was demolished), and the first hill of the Gemini. Back in the late 70s and early 80s.
Valravn is known as a DIVE coaster not a drop coaster and Rougarou is a floorless coaster not a sit down like Kumba or Kraken. you might get ribbed again, sorry
for got is that we want to see a change of the mid way sky ride do you know when you go to ski lodges they do have a ride up to t the mountain. the ride do have a a rectangle auto dors will slide open , plus that will you put speaker for having intro recorder f taking out cedar ceader poing, then also put in aircondintioner
Love your video! It makes me bring back my past May trip to the park. Even though you said "there's so much going on you don't know what to see" you spot key actions at the park. thats awesome
August 1st 2017 when you published this was the EXACT SAME day my two friends and I got to cetar point! To bad I didn't see myself in this walkthrough 😂👍🤔😯😮😮😮
@@Starlit43 Assuming you haven't ridden it yet? Every coaster enthusiast on UA-cam has been going nuts over it. I've been on over 30 coasters myself and SV is without a doubt the best, but to each their own I guess.
@@Starlit43 No. Because I like it, you must like it as well. Lol. Just kidding, I don't really care what you like, just pointing out that you have a minority opinion. That's cool though, like or don't like whatever you want, that's your right.
Slight correction: unless one unfortunately closed, there should be 3 derby racer type carousels left in the world with 2 in the US (Cedar Point and Rye's Playland). The third should be Blackpool Pleasure Beach's. They're fun, but you don't have a choice but to hold on as they go fast.
Great park make sure you eat before you go they charge a lot of money for food such as $50.00 for hamburgers and 3.50 for fries the food at the park is very expensive
Thanks. I'm really surprised they didn't expand the midway there. That's a huge amount of unused space, and it was part of their original plan. I wonder what changed their minds.
There's a good amount of usable space in the ride's centre. There was a haunt there before, and a dark ride would fit, although it would look ugly. I don't think they have any plans for that area for the next half decade at least. I'd kill to know what their 2020 plans are...
Jay, I’m spending yet another horrible winter day watching your walk-through’s and making our summer plans. Question for you: have you ever gone to Holiday World? It’s a good 7 hours away from me but I’ve heard good things. Wondering if we’ll ever get a Jay Ducharme Holiday World Walk-through. Thank you for these videos!
I've been to Holiday World, but it was over 15 years ago and I need to go back. We didn't have a good time, mostly because of the extreme heat that had settled on the area. The park has changed dramatically since my visit, so I think I should give the park another try. You can read about our original trip here: www.karenandjay.com/trips/holiday01/holiday01.html
Thank you for the quick reply! The heat has me concerned as well, and I’m not sure if there’s enough there to justify that long of a trip. I’m heading over to check out your experience now.
Mandi Holdiay world is a great place to take kids or even go just to have some fun! They have arguably the best wooden roller coaster in the world! Cheers and good luck
The great thing about the Cadillac cars is that you could let your 3-year old steer it and they loved it, even though it was automatic---they really thought that they were steering.
Nice job. 4K must've been 10-15GB(?) I did this in 2008 with a SONY MiniDV camcorder it took an hour. I'm glad you called it an amusement park not a theme park ; yeah it would or will be cool if they expand FrontierTown into mean streak RMC's infield. its cool waiting in line for the haunted house during halloweekends.
You're spot on; it was just under 15 gb. But here's where it got interesting: I processed the video in Final Cut. The project ballooned to 658 gb! I actually ran out of hard drive space editing the video. 4k is a pain. Hopefully Apple's upcoming H.265 codec will help.
Wow. and that's without any subtitles, title screens, transitions, special effects to render. I haven't used Final Cut in a couple years. iMovie is just fine for my UA-cam vids. I haven't shot 4K. I have shot the highest AVCHD if you look at my Rougarou coaster vids. AVCHD is really used for making BluRays or playback on an HDTV. How long did it take to upload? Ethernet would be the fastest most stable way instead of Wi Fi but 5G Wi Fi would be relatively fast. 2G would take a while. My CP show vids are always about 30 min long and are 3 GB and probably take an hour to upload. When I first started doing it in 2008 UA-cam limited a file to 10 minutes. I had to upload the shows by the segments they were written in. I know the guy who writes the shows so it was interesting ot see how he put them together. Something you don't think about when your'e watching it live. One Kings Island show section lasted exactly 10 minutes out of 30 lol P.S. It would be interesting if CP put a Western-themed dark ride inside RMC Mean Streak's infield (the coaster might be called RailBlazer )
amusement420 I'm fortunate to have a fiber optic connection, so the upload took only about 10 minutes. Rendering the final video took a few hours, though.
I went to Cedar Point in 1964. Probably the best time off my life staying in a hotel in Sandusky. I returned several times. I don't see the Silver Dollar or the stern-wheeler. The Blue Streak should be prominent along with the meriigolds near the entrance. In 1964, Cedar Point was just beginning its hayday with antique cars and roller coasters. But I was a 7-year old and they had a gate to go swimming on the beach. I slept until it was 8 or 9 pm, then my parents did a quick walk-through as the speakers told you you had to get out of their fucking park.
What interesting is that usually the iPhone's built-in stabilization works really well with HD video. I had a Steadicam rig for it but found I no longer needed it. This video was filmed at 4k resolution, however, and apparently that disabled the built-in stabilization. It's probably computationally too intense to simultaneously process 4k and stabilize. Live and learn....
THANKS for showing one of my favorite theme parks in the New England states. My crazy cousin that goes everyday to CEDAR or to KINGS after work. Eric Fellner I’d love to see more wooden coasters in the park. But given how they just got rid of one,, I doubt it’s in the park’s future.

Man.. this video has brought back some great memories.
thank you, I grew up going here in the 70s it has changed a lot, great times then.
This is EXACTLY why I want to go back to this park so badly. I haven't went there in 4 years. Ugh.......the nostalgic
Nice! you saw a rollback on camera

But do keep up the good work, I like your walk thru videos nonetheless. Looking forward to your future videos

you should do a walkthrough of Hershey park in 2017
I didn’t get soaked on thunder canyon
Have not been to Cedar Point since 1994. Boy, sure has changed 😀😀😀
It’s kinda dream like
This place is on my bucket list
Melissa2087 as it should be.
In my younger days went here often as a result its locked in memory.
"That's Maverick. It's not really fast." - Uh, what? 70mph is faster than the majority of roller coasters.
very nice went here in 1994 its looks the same but different too love itg

Been once in 2008, was not disappointed. I am trying to go back next summer, ten years later 😂
I love these videos. They're so relaxing, and I get to see theme parks I've never been to. :)
You should plan a trip to cedar point, it's 100% worth it.
Thanks!
What happened to Demon Drop?
It was moved to Dorney Park and reopened there in 2010. ua-cam.com/video/rYPN2XA6R6c/v-deo.html
Great park make sure you eat before you go they charge a lot of money for food such as $50.00 for hamburgers and 3.50 for fries the food at the park is very expensive
I love your walk through videos...: )
Not shores it’s cedar shores and it’s not fast pass it’s fast lane
It’s hydrolic release instead of cables not to cool it off
Great job on the resolution, wish I had a 4K display.
They didn't extend the Midway into Steel Vengeance's infield in the end, shame.

Valravn is a b&m dive coaster not a drop coaster and it’s called the power tower not power shot tower
Roll backs aren’t that rare it’s really common especially in the morning I worked at cp for 3 seasons
Just an fyi those cars were called Turnpike cars, not hot rod
I'm going to Canadas Wonderland!
