  • Citius Mag is in the Bahamas for the 2024 World Athletics Relays. Back in Thomas Robinson Stadium for the first time since 2017, this year's meet features a trimmed-down schedule focused on sprints action. The only races contested will
be the 4x100m and 4x400m for men and women, as well as the mixed 4x400m. Despite the slim selection of events, there will still be plenty of stars out to play in the third of four global championship events this year.

    That's why I like him.
He said "we will see/know as the season progresses". Which is a great answer. He knows he wants to run fast. It's basically"i don't dictate the time. My training does. And if I run a certain time this season, my new training will determine if I get better or not".

As much as I want to see him run 400s, I think he's being very wise by focusing on the 100 and 200 while he's still young and has healthy, flexible muscles, as those events are far more taxing on the body. The 400 will still be there waiting for him in a few years, and if we're lucky, we'll be seeing the first athlete ever to win a gold medal in the 100, 200, and 400, and possibly break the world records in each. I can't wait to see how this young man's career progresses.

Brilliant interview from Tebogo. He answered all questions honestly and with integrity, without making enemies with opposition or with fans. He seems to be quite the opposite of Noah (I love Noah, btw, they're just very different from each other) as he doesn't like to talk about the times and world records, etc. I hope he manages to do what he's done so far in his career; let his running do the talking. If he does that, he can do anything he sets his mind to, whether in the 100, the 200 or the 400.

Yes, but free of injury or just keep a good head. These guys get injured doing silly things. van Niekerk got injured at a rugby match just after setting the 400m record, like why would you play rugby with such prospects. Bolt too, he could have done a 9:56 or so for 100m, but he got injured at a club. Tebogo should just keep away from silly things, he will be fine.

I think I know why Lyles will never get the sort of spotlight he's looking for.
Notice that this Tebogo video has drawn a lot more attention in comparison to Lyles's interview after their 4x100m dominance. Yes you may argue that it's because there is "200 world record in the title" but you cannot deny that Tebogo has been getting a lot of support in the media vua coverage.
I believe that he (Lyles) is right when it comes to how track is not as supported in the U.S. The Botswanans and Africans in general take to social media to rally behind Tebogo. One thing Africans do not like is someone that "talks too much". Hence why you see they hope and pray Tebogo will be the one to silence Noah.
The same is done in India. Notice the reach Neeraj Chopra has. Lyles needs to try and get the international supporters on his side. Right now it's Noah and America vs the world while the world has Letsile Tebogo vs Noah. And Tebogo isn't looking at it from a rivalry perspective while Lyles is always about smoke while he has more people against him than with him. Hence why Tebogo is a more likeable character.
Richardson managed to see this in time. Although her controversy still follows her like a shadow she has developed a more down to earth character, which tends to allow the masses to believe in you while sort of negating the hate. She doesn't talk about world records.
What made Bolt special was how he did it. He would state his goals without discrediting anyone else and acknowledged that the competition was stiff, implying that he wanted to win but he knew it wasn't guaranteed every time. He would never talk about times. He knew he had to run his race and the results would tell us who he is. H
