You have a jewel brother. I love the old Falcons and the Windsor Ford small blocks. I remember a neighbor had an old Fairlane. Must have been the first year the Ford Windsor engines came out. 1961, I think. It was a 221. Then they came out with the 260. Then the 289. That little 221 ran like a sewing machine. It was super quiet and ran smooth as glass.

Nice to see that you went with the 260! Most seem to think they need big horse power, and end up with something they did not even make back then. It sounds really good. I just rebuilt my 260 in my 64 futura last summer. Getting ready for its maiden voyage as I swapped out the Ford o matic for a tremec 5 speed manual trans. You earned a new subscriber.

Had a 63 futura with 289 and toploader conversion...I used a heavy duty f100 clutch and flywheel and 65 falcon disc brakes were a bolt on deal...that was my daily driver back in the 80s...great little cars...love the early falcons...cheers and good luck with the project !

Thanks. This is my daily driver too. As you can see, it needs a lot of work. Had to get a driveshaft made for it after the engine/transmission swap from the 61 Ranchero parts car. All of the spare parts have come from that car, the Ranchero in the parts car video. We only like the round body falcons too.

First car was a 62 falcon, pulled out the six and put in a 352 from a 65 galaxy 500, what a sleeper, that was 1974, great times the 70’s!

lots of people asking about motor mounts... the mustang is a re-bodied falcon, so if it fits in a mustang, it also fits in a falcon. 64-66 mustang motor mounts are the same as 60-65 falcon mounts. same with exhaust headers. same with front suspension parts.

He changed the motor to a 410 (475) Edsel motor. Man, that thing has a lot of torque. Keep me up on your progress, I would like to see how it turns out. 🚗🙂

I got an original 64 2 door ford falcon with a 144 inline and a manual 3 speed in the column. Im planning on dropping a 260 down in it with a BorgWarner 4 speed. Did you have to cut the original mounts for the motor/ tranny or did you use a conversion kit. Any tips would be helpful and greatly appreciated. The 62 sounds like a beast and you guys are awesome! The first gen was always my dads favorite.

Thanks. We did not use a conversion kit. We used 63 V8 ford falcon motor mounts and we fabricated our own trans mount. The biggest problem we had was the exhaust headers. We had to cut and fab the driver side header to get it to fit in. We used a T10 tranny with a Hurst shifter. What are you planning on using? Yea, I’m with your dad, the 60-61s are my favorites.
