Great content. Fitted a few of these now for family after watching your pervious vudeo. Too many people are unaware the damage mould can do to your house and health.
It's great how you go through the instructions. A lesson to us all. Even if the product is the same, the instsllation method can change. Best to find this out at the beginning rather than at the end.
Suffering with condensation on double glazing windows in the bedrooms from Oct-Mar. Possibly more problematic since having cavity walls done. Double glazing doesn’t have trickle vents but try to leave the smaller windows on the latch as much as possible in bedrooms. When the frost and snow comes have also found to suffer from condensation in loft on felt and ends up dripping on loft insulation. Installed powerful extractor in bedroom. Last year installed lap vents in loft as no soffit vents. Question - the PIV should help with condensation on windows in bedrooms but worried about the condensation in loft. Is it likely to reduce the condensation in the loft? My thought is - reducing the condensation in the rooms should stop the moisture getting up through the ceiling into the loft. Just worried it will work the other way around and pull moist air out of the loft back into the house
You need a survey of the loft to see if suitable. It's not unusual for lofts to form condensation now and then. But yours sound a little more than that.
When it's showing the minimum distance(s) from the diffuser to a wall does it mean the edge of the diffuser? Also the nearer to the wall I have it does it mean that all speed settings aren't suitable?
Great advice and clear explanation, thanks, Mark. You mentioned that the unit can be powered from a lighting circuit - I have an unused ring main circuit socket in the bedroom below (used to power a wall mounted tv) and can easily relocate it into the loft, would that be better and connect the unit via a 20amp DP fused spur? Thanks
Thanks for that. One more question - just being cautious - the supplied spur has a 1amp fuse, you suggest a 3amp max. Would it be ok to go for the 1amp coming off a ring main?
Great video. I want a tradesmen to fit ours. Generally do people opt for electricians to fit these ? How long should it take generally take to fit it? Just working out how much it might cost to get someone to fit? Also can I ask why you wouldn’t recommend to buy one without the heat function? As I was planning to buy the Drimaster DRI-ECO-HC Condensation Ventilation Loft Unit (Hall Control) version for around £340. I didn’t want to spend over £400 on one really. Thanks Matt Thanks matt
Because they are very cold without a heater over winter. To the point lots of people switch them off defeating the object. @mattd6495 I really would say whatever you do get a heated one lol. We are often asked to replace those without through winter months. Think how cold the loft gets...
Hi Ian, We have just had an electrician install our DricEco Heat. They have set it up on the default option. (1). When the temp in the loft reaches above 23degrees it will switch it's self off on standbu automatically. I wasn't sure if to switch it to another option? Thanks for the advice.
@@mattd6495hey, how’s it going since having it installed? Do you went for the heated version I see? How much did you pay for the PIV and for installation? Considering getting one but like you I was initially considering the cheaper non heated version… I have a lot of condensation and mould in 2 bedrooms.
Okay thanks and do the do the whole 2 story house with the vent on the top of stairs. Also I have felt vents fitted in the loft. Are these okay to stay
Thanks for the video Can you let me know if this can be wired to the lighting circuit? I've seen other comments saying that it can be as this unit requires 1a. I don't have a mains circuit running in to the loft.
It's not drawn up it injects air into the house from the loft. Which is why you need good loft ventilation for these to work well. You can get through the wall vairents for situations lofts have poor access/ventilation.
Thank you. Are they washable or do you need to buy new ones. We bought the house when it was already fitted and don’t have any manuals for it. Thank you again.

My neighbours installer has just refused to fit one of these PIVs in their loft because their electricity fuse board isn't up to current standards. Since when has anyone looked at a fuse board before installing anything so basic as this PIV
That will be due to the MI and RCD requirement. Could well be the the wiring is not in a condition to modify/take the installation. I would listen to the installer and take that very fair/honest advice.

Yep just a single vent

@VIC MILLS 3 story and over you need a special model on the nuaire.
Ventilation in the loft is a good thing so felt vents can stay.
@@electrician247 great thanks
Which model is this?
what would I use in a single story house? would I need to install in each room?
If you have a loft space then one of these. If not then a flatmaster unit ducted through the wall. Ideally in a communal area of the property.
Thanks for the video
Can you let me know if this can be wired to the lighting circuit?
I've seen other comments saying that it can be as this unit requires 1a.
I don't have a mains circuit running in to the loft.
You would have to speak with an electrician who can review your lighting circuit and advise.
Non heated uses a 1amp, Heated unit is 3amp. It can generally run off the lighting circuit.
Do you need an outlet duct through your roof? Where does the air go that is drawn up out of the house?
It's not drawn up it injects air into the house from the loft. Which is why you need good loft ventilation for these to work well. You can get through the wall vairents for situations lofts have poor access/ventilation.
Which model is that without access to loft please
We have one of these without the heater. We are getting a smell similar to cigarette smoke. Is this common and how do we cure this please?
Check your filters and air quality in the loft.

It doesn’t heat your home. The heating element takes the chill off the loft air. That’s all.

You couldn't unless the loft has a sealed and ventilated eves space.
