    Highlights the best tour available for visiting Mt Etna by bus and cable car, must watch review!
    Bus tour from Catania to Mt Etna and then caught the cable car up the volcano. We then climbed up Mt Etna as high as we could without a guide, Awesome!
    We booked our bus through 'Tourist Dream' €35 includes open sided bus from Catania centre with audio guide in multiple languages. 3 hours free time at Etna. We chose to go up the mountain to 2,500m on the cable car €30 per person and then walked as far as permitted without a guide. Our tour also include a short stop for refreshments at Nicolosi where we purchased delicious arancini with cheese, tomato and we think fish? They were amazing! €2 each.
    Other options:
    On a budget - the public bus from Catania is very cheap (less than €10 return journey) only 1 bus a day, it departs at 8:15 and returns around 16:00 and you can then walk up from the bus stop if you do not want to pay for cable car.
    Treat yourself - there are loads of tour options available, you can even opt for private vehicles from Catania for full day tours, inclusive of cable car, jeep tour to the summit with guided walk and tastings of local produce.

    Skip the cable car and spend the money on the tour guide, well worth it.

      @SteveGrin the cable car was excellent, loved it.
      We didn’t have the time to do a full tour but heard good things. Did you do a tour? Who with? £?

    "I want to see some major lava action" has to be the best comment on this video haha. Looks amazing though

    Great video Have been googling about Mt Aetna tours but became quite confused Now it makes sense Assume you need to pay for a guide and 4x4 to drive to closer to the summit?

      Hi! Thank you! 🙏
      Yes, they sell the 4x4 jeep tours everywhere in Catania so it’s easy to book it up. You can book hiking tours and 4x4 bus tours too! They look awesome!
      Cable car is bought when you arrive at the cable car station. We found it confusing online too but just went into a tour operator shop and they explained everything. It’s all good and easy once you are there! Don’t be pressured into spending more money or rushing you into going NOW NOW NOW! 😂 generally all operators are decent.

    Hi, took a while to figure out how to book the bus you went on, but eventually I looked at your very helpful ticket photo and called the Tourist Service office, and it's all still as you have shown it, the bus just doesn't appear on their website, but you can book by phone. Thanks, great video.

      Thank you Nigel for the great feedback 🙏 It was such an awesome experience, we booked our ticket by literally walking into the shop in Catania and booked for the following day. Hope you have a great trip 👍

      We caught the bus in the morning at 830 and were dropped back into town at the collection point at 430. A couple of stops on the way to break up the journey, 3 hours free time from when you reach the top which is more than enough to do what we did

    Why is this trip getting so many one star reviews, and being called a ‘tourist trap’?

    • @TravelUnravelled
      @TravelUnravelled  2 роки тому

      No reason whatsoever. We looked into lots of different tour sales companies and decided this to be the best in the area for the budget we had. The day was awesome and we really enjoyed the experience. We really recommend booking yeah with Tourist Dream, on the street store. Any questions then please follow on in the description and we will try to help you

      @@TravelUnravelled Aren’t you basically paying £35 for transportation to mount etna?

    • @TravelUnravelled
      @TravelUnravelled  2 роки тому

      @@stephenhogg6154 essentially yes but if you have never traveled to Catania before then using the public transport is not easy and will still cost you €10 where there is only 1 bus a day. Miss it on the return and you will be wishing you spent the extra and as make double sure they have everyone. You would be left up the mountain all night, I suppose you may get a taxi for about €100.
      The bus was great as it was open sided and came with a really good audio guide. We chose this method of experiencing Etna and would use it again if we returned. Let me know what you decide to do and how you get on. 👍
