@@TruckHouseLife -I’m sure you mom has been nervous for you as well, that was a sketchy drive for sure, good thing you had the chains … keep in trucking safely 🤟🏼
My anxiety is off the chain 😂 and I'm drinking coffee sitting on my couch watching you you are hardcore Timmy be safe man you'll be there before you know it!
Yeah, camera doesn't really catch it...but when you hit that first hairpin ...yeah, I kinda got a Pucker Factor ....jeesshhh. Well Done, Sir! Like a Professional!!
You’re bad ass Tim!! I’ve done the AlCan a few times couple times in the winter… but driving the truck house up the Duffy in the winter? Pulling a trailer??? Superbad ass!! Good luck on your travels ifn we cross paths I’ll be sure to buy you a cup of Jo!!
I'm glad to hear someone else consider the past when dealing with what is really a minor inconvenience. 5 mph in a heated cab is a helluva lot better than in a Conestoga or on a horse. Glad you made it safely.
If your "extra crazy" you can double the cross chains to create MORE consistent traction. I have done this for my skidloader chains. Additonally, with your over sized rims you might be able to use an emergency chain. Which are quicker. On the black ice (and reg ice) you can go 2-3x faster with cables. They are nice to have in your arsenal ...AND they would clear your rear spring issue . SSC brand is what we generally use.
You just found the reason a lot of people keep trucks stock. Tires, chains, parts easy to find and work without modification. I lost my fuze box on my datsun in the middle of night. Flashlight held in my left hand as light in a rainstorm outside of Whitehorse. It was an adventure. JMHO
Tim i feel you have kinda understated the importance of "being prepared" fueling up at nearly every chance, having a very good stockpile of food, having chains for the truck [i feel chaining up one axle on the trailer would have been prudent] and being very cautious. you drove on roads in conditions that kill people and made it through safely. great content and keep it coming!!!
Yes Timmy did a great drive, I was waiting about Chains on trailer, Timmy said he just had one sit of chains, This was Mouth or More ago, So Timmy made it & truck, Great Video, Thanks Timmy, God Blessings from Iowa, USA
In a 4-wheel, I was always taught "chains on the front". Why? Because not only do they give traction, but on the front, they also give directional control.
Definitely a scary drive that Highway 99 from Whistler to Lillooet always in the winter especially this year due to a slide, avalanche and ice and snow weather. Glad to see you made it through safely!
I was a tire chain repair man/garage man for salt trucks for 5 years. We made chain bungee cords from old innertubes they are more elastic than the ones you are using and we put multiple ones on each tire say 6 to a tire. Makes them super tight.
Watching you drive those icy roads in the mountain passes brought back a lot of memories of my years driving my 18 wheeler in those conditions and the work out I got chaining up. All your videos are awesome, keep them coming and safe travels back to Alaska!
I love my wheel adapters, (had same issue on used rims i bought but didnt check ford 8 lug pattern and inset was off.. my 1986 has late model lug pattern now.. they spaced my rim out now... Great Videos!!!!
Just found your channel, brings back some memories. In 1989 I was in the military and got stationed in Alaska from Texas, packed up a pick up with extra gas, 4 extra tires and a quad and head up in January ready for the adventure. Was a great time tell the truck got flipped upside down in the Yukon and couldn’t even dig out the quad took about 3 hours tell someone came by, got it flipped back over and proceeded on tell the an axle snapped about 100 miles from my destination, towed it in and drive back out almost 4 years to the day later, I guess I didn’t learn my lesson. Needless to say the trip down to the lower 48 was more enjoyable as I had no problems thank goodness. I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos, great job and thanks for the great content.
I drove that same bend on 99 this past April - that was scary without snow! A bit further on, there were very steep climbs and drops - pretty sure my brakes were failing on one slope, and I had to pulse and pull over to cool them off. Beautiful scenery, if you make it out.
Black ice is everywhere in the shaded areas of the mountains in winter. Add the long ascents and descents. Strongly suggest driving during the daylight hours if possible. Most importantly take your time. Go over an embankment and you might not get spotted till spring or summer. Good luck.
I have a set of normal chains, I wonder if I should get a set of V-bars as well. I likely won't need them in Texas but it doesn't hurt to be prepared. People were caught off guard during the last snow-apocalypse. I my truck is a manual so I don't have to be as worried about trans temps compared to an auto.
Talking about the old days like that. I think the same thing traversing death valley in the middle of summer with the ac blasting and a 48oz double gulp with lot of ice. You still crazy man!!
Omg! I am freaking out watching you! I am so afraid of driving in the snow. So happy you made it safely. Great videos, I am binge watching! Be safe my friend!

Timmy, you've got to start giving an itinerary. I am sure people watching wouldn't mind helping you out with a place to park, suggestions to cool spots, or a hot shower.
You're nailin' it brother, slow and steady. Great videos, Probably a good stiff shot of some Canadian whiskey tonight once you're all settled in, you deserve it. Cheers!
It’s all about perspective my man and you’ve got the right idea. Hearing you talk about how the people had to do that travel back in the day made me smile. That’s how I approach building my homestead. Sure it’s hard but it could be much harder.
Glad you made it through those sketchy sections, my girlfriend and I visited Lillioett last spring and that mountain pass is sketchy any day let alone in the winter! Well done man and im glad you're safe, love the channel, keep on trucking my friend😊✌🏼
went thru there on the other side of the Duffy lake.. same conditions.. got stuck trying to get up a steep glazed hill.. Long story .. scary slippy. 400 hundred foot cliffs, no curbing.. got home but scary.
Your the man! towing on the Duffy in the summer can be a bit of a white knuckler! doing it in the winter with those road conditions is just scary!! Well Done!
It's no use to you now but when the studs on the rear axel wheel hubs are long enough maybe get some wheelspacers? Then you could use chains on the back as well.
Hi Tim - I’m waiting too. Won’t text you since it’s 4 hrs earlier there & you’re sleeping! Love Mom.
Hey you! I'll call you this week, almost back!:)

Hi Miss Johnson
@@TaylorHomeCare yes Timmy’s mom… you sure did do a great job 😃
I have a 7.3. I'm surprised how easy he starts his truck with the cold.

I know, mine will crank for days in 40 degree weather 😩😂

I also live in a box truck. I would wait it out, drink coffee and watch UA-cam. :)

Glad you made it safely.
fact!
easy to take for granted.
we are definitely fortunate to have this technology.
those of us who are allowed to know how to manage it, that is.
It's hard to comprehend that was a sketchier drive than a rocky road with a drop off of a few hundred feet but I believe ya! Thanks for the ride!
I have to say, I stopped breathing a couple of times. A nightmare when you don't have any control. Nice one Timmy

Tim has gotta be the hardest working UA-camr I know! The guy really works for his content. Cheers to that!
cheers!
Hey Timmy, your smart by putting chains on!!! Safty, safety should always be #1 choice.!!!

Yup I try to be prepared haha.

Good thing you put them on the front ! You wouldn't make the switchbacks downhill otherwise. Good driving !
Cayoosh reminds me of Red Mountain Pass on steroids! Wow, the places pioneers built roads 😁
This is the best series of UA-cam videos I've seen in a long time. So epic!
Thanks!

🙈🙈🙈 I probably would of just lost my shit and walked down that pass. Lol glad you made it safely
Nice job driving for the conditions. Take it easy and you'll arrive alive.
Thanks for taking us along.
I am so happy you are ok. My heart was pounding too. Please my friend stay safe. You got this.
Betty 🐻
Hi Betty
When you only have one set of chains and four wheel drive. Chains go on the front tires. Better traction and steering control.
Watching you drive those icy roads in the mountain passes brought back a lot of memories of my years driving my 18 wheeler in those conditions and the work out I got chaining up. All your videos are awesome, keep them coming and safe travels back to Alaska!
This a Mouth or More behind So Timmy been in Alaska on live, So I know Timmy and trucks are Okay

Love the sound of that old diesel
Tim is a skilled and patient driver. Good video !!
Good video. Keep on trucking homeboy
Wisdom plus patience equals reward !!
Let your tire air out on a block and chain up, re air and then they will be firm and travel faster. :)

I’ve driven winter roads in Montana and Alaska. I could feel my blood pressure rising while watching this. You did a great job.

Ha I would have sat and waited until the roads were clear! 😂🤣
I was nervous for you. Stay safe. 👍
That looked fun but wouldn’t want to make a habit of it 👍👍😎
I realize this trip is already finished. But if you backed the Samurai on that trailer it would allow you to reduce some of that tongue weight.
Can't back it up, new episode shows why;)

Woohoo. Made it. 👍 lookin forward to the next video.
You showed alot ppl how to keep your cool and keep moving forwards. Applies to life too... Awesome driving man.

Get a set of cables for the rear, and in one the trailer. Glad you made it done many times delivering loads to Canada.
Yeah another great adventure.

You can get a 1 inch wheel spacer to move those rears out to clear those chains.
I know the Duffy well and it is gnar ….nicely done bud
I was just in BC…skiing at Whistler. I love it there. Thanks for the great video.
Nice!

Great real life drama👍☮️❄️
Them switch backs had me clinching up🤦
