Great interview and Dustin is a top fighter and great guy. We must just remember Charles has been climbing this ladder BIG time a long time and has a natural warrior skill way ahead of anyone.
Mma math doesn’t always work out. Conor was khabibs toughest title defense, but Dustin smoked Conor twice. People are underrating oliviera and nothing needs to be said about Gaetje. If we’re doing MMA math look at Dustin vs Hooker and Chandler vs Hooker
@@Diablopray So I actually watched this long video about Khabibs wrestling and Conor actually did really well in comparison to most of his opponents . He didn’t “ toy” with him , he was in there trying to get a finish and even though he got it , Conor defended super well . Wish he had went in with a more offense mindset over defense but Khabibs style is like quicksand , ya kind of hard to really get your style off .
Lafayette, La here. Dustin, once again we're here at the foot of the mountain. You may be the one in the cage, but we're all right there with you! You've got so much love from everyone because you have so much love for them. Good heart, class act, and a damn good fighter. Let's Geaux!!
My most anticipated matchup in 2021. Both finishers who have fought in the ufc for years and earned title shots the hard way. This fight imo goes down based on who exploits the other’s glaring flaw first: Oliveira’s lack of head movement or Poirier’s suspect takedown defence (his stance seems a bit squared which is not good for defending takedowns or so I’ve heard). What’s crazy is that both have the tools to punish that weakness in devastating ways. Poirier’s shifting combos can take Oliveira’s head off but Oliveira has a sneaky counter double leg that he can use to punish overzealous opponents. That being said, I think Dustin has more heart than Oliveira. Oliveira isn’t a quitter but I don’t think I’ve seen him win wars like Dustin did against Gaethje or Hooker. Tough fight to pick tbh, but I am leaning slightly towards Dustin Poirier. I think he can hang with Oliveira on the ground better than vice versa on the feet. 2021 has been pretty crazy with these title fights. So far five belts have changed hands from their prev owners this year (Jan-Glover, Petr (lol)- Aljo, Weili-Rose, Deiveson-Brandon and Stipe-Francis). Maybe we will see the sixth this December…
Your last point about the so many "AND NEW" moments lately is one I was ruminating on just the other day. It's been super exciting and fascinating to witness. The fact that Deiveson, Yan, and Jan had just won those belts months prior makes it even all the more bonkers! Here's to the SIXTH! 🍻💎⚜️
Great breakdown, btw. I see in much the same way. The amazing part is that even Oliveira's striking and Poirier's ground game are both world class and only appear as "weaker" areas when compared to one another. How awesome is that?!? Either one of these guys can control/finish the fight wherever it goes! We fans are in for a real treat. Big time FOTY candidate headlining the final PPV of 2021. I'm so pumped, words don't do it justice.
Le Diamant!!! Glad to see him acknowledge his Cajun roots!!! As a proud Maritime Canadian who went to a French elementary school with Acadians (Acajuns ergo Cajuns...), that made my day. Even bigger fan of Monsieur Poirier!!! ⚜️
I love Dustin Poirier, been a big fan and idolized him before his fight with Korean Zombie. It's so cool to know that he has a gratitude journal and another journal about what he can control. I have a gratitude journal too, for 3 years now. But I'm used to not having empowering thoughts, besides trusting my journey. I'm now inspired to make a journal about what I can control. Thank you Dustin Poirier, love you man
I made good money with him at McGregor vs Porier 2. Set 100€ and got 900€ because he knocked the Irish out. He still would loose to Khabib but best active lightweight fighter! Best boxer in the UFC and good charakter outside the octagon.
I think we all know how stacked the light weight division is, but it is absolutely crazy how many top-notch human beings are in the lightweight division. It really is great time to be a fan of the sport.
Man…i love both of these two fighters and don’t wanna see either of them lose on Dec 13. But I guess I would just wish them both good luck and health and hope to see an amazing fight that day!
Actually in Louisiana (well in Shreveport where I’m from) you can choose either Spanish or French class in high school . I chose Spanish (didn’t retain a lick of it lol)
That is fairly common in most high schools in the United States though. I know it was in the early 2000s here in Kentucky. We could take Spanish, French or German as a foreign language. Actually it was a requirement to graduate high school here. You had to pass one of them. It's actually not a requirement anymore. Lower standards nowadays and all that....also maybe a little xenophobia "speak English, this is Murica" type deal imo...

Gaethje just lost a title fight and lost it easily..
Now he beat Chandler and wants title shot hahahaah
Crazy..
I don’t want either guy to lose 😭 both of their roads to the championship are so pure
Real moment when Dustin was honest about this likely being his last go at gold. I really appreciated his thoughtful response and the time he took with that one.
Yeah definitely his last shot.. and he’ll go down as one of the greatest fighters to never win that Gold
Helwani: is it diamante or diamente? Dustin: lfngnjk mjnsnc
Charles striking is underrated. I'd say hes the more well rounded striker. He uses knees, elbows, kicks and has cleaned up his hands. And we all know he has the ground advantage. Its gonna be a great fight that either guy can win
For everyone hating on Dustin’s audio, remember this: he’s a fighter, not a podcaster. And he’s damn good at what he does. Damn good.
Why is his woife in me DM'S though?
such a likeable dude
2021 is the year of Dustin Poirier. Get that bag and the title, man. You deserve it..
Great interview and Dustin is a top fighter and great guy. We must just remember Charles has been climbing this ladder BIG time a long time and has a natural warrior skill way ahead of anyone.
They are two birds of a feather, imho
This is a genuinely good person. Forget the championship I really hope he doesn't crush my beliefs and becomes a tiger woods
*Future champ*
Hopefully not. Respect to Dustin.
Until he fights Islam
@@miketheman7217 Islam ain't khabib ! There's only one khabib ! He's a fighter of century ! Don't bring up that glass jaw Islams name
You okay Dustin that Justin gaethje guy
I can't wait to see Charles v. Dustin!
I can't wait to see Justin v. Winner!
With khabib gone, Dustin beats them all. He had his moments vs khabib to.
@@Diablopray hardest? LOL. He played with him like with toy even in Conor games (striking).
You’re the biggest casual in the world Dustin isn’t beating Islam you bum
@@Yaheame Shutup you khabib nuthugger, if anyone's the casual it's you.
I loved how Dustin exposed Ariel French with such a simple and basic question for any French speaker, lol.
You're seeing something that isn't there
Helwani said 'le diamand'.
Helwani 1 - Dustin 0
Which minute ?

Dustin has more true fans than anyone else in this sport. Champion mindset and always very respectful with his words. Love how wholesome he is.
Don't sleep on Charlie Olives, he has very underrated punching power
If Poirier wins, they are gonna sideline him for a year, try to get Conor a win over Tony and do the 4th fight for a title.
Nah Dustin Justin two will be the play.
Tonys done
Le Diamant!!! Glad to see him acknowledge his Cajun roots!!! As a proud Maritime Canadian who went to a French elementary school with Acadians (Acajuns ergo Cajuns...), that made my day. Even bigger fan of Monsieur Poirier!!! ⚜️

Poor guy he doesn't know how garbage that mic is at least he's trying that's what counts I guess
Thank you Dustin Poirier, love you man
This matchup reminds me of Błachowicz Texeira so much. Both class act and willing to do whatever it takes to get the strap. Can’t wait!
Lol wut
Dustin has always had a great nice guy act
I made good money with him at McGregor vs Porier 2. Set 100€ and got 900€ because he knocked the Irish out. He still would loose to Khabib but best active lightweight fighter! Best boxer in the UFC and good charakter outside the octagon.
he beats khabib in rematch too
No he doesn't lol he hasnt improved his wrestling
Great Interview!! We will be watching in December and Cheering for you to become The #ONE Man in your division!! Let’s GO CHAMP!
As a Khabib fan i love Dustin
Good luck to you brother 🙏
Classy, brother 👊🏼
Dustin has to be the most genuine and well spoken humans in the UFC. So much respect he shows go people. Go get that belt!!
fun fact: Poirier means “pear tree” in French
Another fun fact, pear tree is how they say Poirer in English speaking countries.
Thought it meant “pea head”
@@lordb9977 lmfao 🤣
@@lordb9977 you just mad ya boy is being a "rich weirdo"
And Oliveira means Olive Tree in portuguese! You know what this means right?? Nothing…. Hahaha
I felt that way about Justin and Khabib….very few fighters don’t like and I can’t feel for.
Dustin is so real man no script no narratives just hand shakes and ass whoopins
Actually in Louisiana (well in Shreveport where I’m from) you can choose either Spanish or French class in high school . I chose Spanish (didn’t retain a lick of it lol)
I'm from denham springs. About an hour from Lafayette and it's the same here. You can choose
"Ci jajaja"that's all my Spanish lol
@@Grimy_Aaronarr *si
That is fairly common in most high schools in the United States though. I know it was in the early 2000s here in Kentucky. We could take Spanish, French or German as a foreign language. Actually it was a requirement to graduate high school here. You had to pass one of them. It's actually not a requirement anymore. Lower standards nowadays and all that....also maybe a little xenophobia "speak English, this is Murica" type deal imo...
@@Grimy_Aaronarr Si. El stupido
Dusting great job with the new mic equipment, but turn the gain down plz
Man Ariel is so good with his questions he really gets him to open up I like seeing the other side
Dustin started to articulate himself very well. Impressed man.

Dustin sucks lmao, this should be McGregors title shot.. but he fought on a damn broken leg then snapped it in the fight against Dustin. McGregor should’ve pulled out and Dustin would’ve never gotten this opportunity such BS

I like how Justin baits Dustin in. Gonna be a fun year of lightweight fights.
I want to see more Charles interviews
Dastin deserves this belt brudda. He work very hard for this.
As a french canadian, it makes me so happy seeing Ariel speaking french with the fighters
If Oliveira loses, I hope he gets to fight Gaethje and make him tap 6 more times.
Yeah i would love olives to shut up gayche call Charles a quitter even tho he tapped 100 times against khabib and he made such a big fuzz how he doesn’t quit but you have knock him out …… yeah
How can you not love Dustin, man. Such a humble and honest guy.
Dustin is such a class act man how can you root against this guy dude such a good dude
He’s just like Jon Jones.. it’s all an act, look up all the stories of Dustins true personality he’s literally an ass
Both him and Charles are such good guys and it’s gonna be so hard to see either of them lose
God forbid a mfer make a mistake and have an opportunity for growth and progress
Why does Dustin have to be such a humble nice guy! It hits different.
Great interview , incredible .
Dustin “I’m just grateful for this journey” poirier
People that say Charles has quit in him make me laugh. Thats why i like Dustin he is a true fighter and he know what it takes. Idk who to pick in this fight. And thats why people who say Charles is a quiter make me laugh. Yea guy has "quit" in him because he didn't just go on a tear in lightweight division with 9 fight Win Streak and all finishes just to get the belt. His last loss was stoppage from Paul Felder who retired recently. Charles most def is a "quiter" . Lmao
Justin is the one saying that. He believes he will win easily against charles which i tend to believe too.
@@carancole5974 ofcourse he gonna up talk Dustin because Dustin knocked him out. If Dustin wins it makes Justin look good and he can get rematch to avenge his lose.
Great interview Ariel. You really were in the zone on this one 👏🏼
2ND round submission for Charles, Dustin walks away after that
I think he gets tapped as well sadly. Maybe even 1st rd
How could you not like this dude!!.now that’s what you call well rounded!!!
