- Video of Maxwell Berry howling while duct-taped to an airline seat went viral in August of 2021. Police say he groped the breasts and backsides of two female flight attendants, and is seen on video punching a male attendant. Flight attendants used seat-belt extenders and tape to keep him seated. Berry pled guilty to three counts of assault and the judge gave him 60 days in prison with one year of supervised release.
Seriousness aside, whoever’s idea duct tape was deserves a raise.

Once again, the sentencing is FAR too light. I guess when "judges" hear strange and weird cases against individuals all day long, they become NUMB to identifying when they need to step up and recognize the real situation that actually occurred and apply a very serious sentencing. If this guy, Maxwell Berry, is going to act like this now, this is very easily how he will act in the future.
I would have added a "no-fly on ANY airline, for a period of five years. If he needs to travel ......TAKE THE BUS!!!

What makes my blood boil so much is that on top of sexually harassing those women, he still had the audacity to get angry and throw a fit, as if them having an issue with him sexually assaulting women was offensive.
I think it's quite possible that he really think that way. "I did nothing wrong. It was just a little touch, come on, have you got no sense of humor?" - maybe something along this line. I've heard many story about people (usually men in this case) who sexually harassed others and really think that they did nothing wrong - or think that it's nothing serious. I'm upset about this, but can't say I'm surprised, not anymore.

Some people still serving 20+ for weed related crimes, this Maxwell guy was a violent terror in a situation where no one has the option to remove themselves from the situation. he also sexually assaulted the other women. He should be treated like a terrorist and sex offender he is, not like a little boy in timeout. that's what that 60 days is like, a time out. It depends on the state. In some, groping is considered 4th degree sexual assault, with 1st through 3rd all being degrees of rape. In some, groping is sexual battery because they reserve sexual assault for rape.

I'm so glad that guy was punished and not the flight crew. People that watched the vid and were not on the flight may have thought that taping him to a seat was going too far but only everyone on the plane knew it had to be done because he was out of control.

Serious crimes goes to prison and thats where you meet murders , drug criminals, rapist and you stay there a whole lot longer than compare to jail: short term and or temporary tern until your trial. You eat better in jail. You get cleaner facilities. People that goes to jail do petty low crimes. There is also federal vs state prison which is a bit different also!

You cant be sentenced to 60 days in prison, only jail. By definition prison is for sentences of a year or longer. IE really is completely incompetent

What exactly was the evidence? No doubt the prosecutor charged him with what evidence could get a conviction.

@@agoodballet And the reason for the plea is that the prosecutor does not have enough evidence for a higher charge that the police suggested. Otherwise the prosecutor would seek a higher charge.

This is what we have to teach our young adolescent kids. You don’t get to do whatever you want and make bad choices and walk away. The school no longer holds kids back in this state. Not sure what that’s about but now they aren’t afraid of failing the grade. This is what happens when kids become adults without being held accountable.

In all seriousness, I’m glad to see actual justice for some of the hardest working people on earth. Flight attendants keep us all moving, and deserve protections equal to their service.

He assaulted those airlines stewards, from sexual to physical assault. I am sure this is not his first time behaving like this, but he clearly didn’t believe that he would be held accountable. I hope this experience deters him from mistreating anyone else and prevents him from escalating.

Until we start giving these creeps the full sentence, in this case 18 months. They will feel entitled to do it again and maybe hurt someone worse. Any violent crimes should be prosecuted and sentenced to the maximum amount of time.

@Aas he would of eventually lost his voice, when you lose your voice it can weeks for it come back. But in extreme rare cases never come back. But it would of been no one's fault but his own. Taping his mouth shut on the other hand is risky if he wasn't able to breathe, the fault would of been on the airline. Let him scream and let him risk losing his own voice forever.

60 days is really short. On a flight in the air, all passengers must cooperate and keep things smooth, safe and reduce stress not add to it. Further groping a woman is no small crime. It should be considered a serious breach of social behavior. If a man is not controlled to behave himself on a plane light and is groping women, I would give him a year in prison.
