Making some Jack in my home freezer, but you guys have enlightened me 😂 will definitely give this a go on the next batch 😁
actually, since you’re only removing water, it’s not distillation; this is freeze fractionation. But seriously, make some apple jack folks. It’s great aged in oak.
What about the impurities left in and concentrated? They have a name for the hangover from apple jack, they called it apple palsy back in the day. Townsends and Sons have a video on it.
A lot of people have this question - but as a rule if the ferment is clean than you won't have issues.
why dont you just take the concentrate then distill off only the foreshots
That’s a cool idea. You’ll have to try making an Ice Seltzer 20% and let us know how it tastes
Next experiment!
Wonder what would happen if you froze water.
Looks great! I need to make me some cider! (And then get an icemaker and level it up). Cheers!
Did the carbonation have any impact on the final product? I usually make mine from still cider. TIA
Do you have to worry about methanol concentrations??
Not really - that's a common myth and has more to do with the fermented beverage than the distilled product.
How much cider did you use vs how much applejack did it yield
would this work for ice beer? And is it any good, like Eisbock?
