  • Tim Keller sermons via Gospel in Life: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Jesus howled this agonized cry at his execution. How could any good come from such a seemingly horrible end? Timothy Keller ponders the depths of what is surely most horrible, yet most wonderful question ever asked.

Did you listen? God is saluting him like a hero, Hugging him like a Son He thought had died and miraculously survived

"We have no problem with guilt as a culture. And that is a problem. I will grant that inordinate guilt feelings are pathological. But I would like you to consider that 'no guilt' feelings are even more pathological."
Fascinating stuff. I love how Keller emphasizes both what Christianity has in common with other beliefs, and where it sharply differs.

l didn't expect such astonishing insight into guilt - but where better to find it than at the cross?

“MY GOD MY GOD WHY HAST THOU ABANDONED ME” Jesus Christ died after saying those words and death of the physical Jesus is also the unification of Jesus as part of the Holy Trinity. The cry of abandonment could have started from when Judas Iscariot betrayed Christ until the moment before his death.

“MY GOD MY GOD WHY HAS THOU FORSAKEN ME” this is a mystery how God,Son and Holy been one managed to separate just before the physical death of Jesus. I don’t understand what happened, the Holy Trinity is one and inseparable and if God turned away from the son then so did The Holy Spirit and Jesus was just man at that point in time ? This does not make sense. I think that the Holy Trinity died and rose from death. I simply do not know

That is a mystery indeed. Something about the trinity broke and I don't understand how that has been fixed. Still I do believe it although it is above my understanding. Something loving happened and I, we, get to be a part of it.

This used to confuse me, and I've heard good examples of why he may have said that, like how when Jesus became sin, and God can't look upon sin, so him becoming sin for us brought a separation between the human part of Jesus and God. But then I learned this....in Jesus' time, people didn't have bibles laying around that were in mass production for everyone to have. Most people couldn't read or write. The people in those times would go to the temples and synagogues and listen to the texts being read and they would memorize them. They took scripture way more seriously in those times than we do as a society now. Jesus knew that they had the Psalm of David memorized. He wasn't crying out to God, he pretty much telling everyone looking on to "open up their bible" to Psalm 22. Read over Psalm 22 and you will see what Jesus wanted them to remember and realize!

@@AAronHatcher-s6pyep he was quoting scripture like he does best hahhahaha amen hallelujah. He was filling the psalm which David wrote . David had no idea what he was writing was actually going to be fulfilled by the very Christ himself .
