  • Sweden has dropped its investigation into the murder mystery of former Prime Minister Olof Palme, who was shot dead 34 years ago in Stockholm city centre.
Sweden's prosecutor on Wednesday named the main suspect in the murder of Palme and then closed the 34-year old case.
But the locking away the files looks unlikely to give the country closure.
Al Jazeera's Paul Rhys reports from Stockholm, Sweden.

No, it was not Olof Palme who directly caused Swedish companies to move abroad. During Palme's time as Prime Minister (1969-1976 and 1982-1986) there was a policy aimed at strengthening the influence and rights of workers through reforms such as the Swedish model. The Swedish economy has undergone a structural transformation in which the traditional manufacturing industry has become less significant. Instead, the service sector has grown and become a larger part of the economy. This has resulted in many who previously worked in factories switching to working in service professions. A better education system and higher level of education among the Swedish population have also played a role. Many former factory workers have had the opportunity to obtain a higher education and then work in other sectors that require more specialized knowledge.

The Swedish economy had weaker growth compared to some other countries. This may have been due to factors such as high inflation, high taxes and regulations, and a general trend of political and social influence by labor unions.

Laughable how they hyped up this press conference, hinting that they were going to reveal some amazing new evidence, and now 5 months later they didn't present anything new whatsoever. Closing the investigation now, on these grounds, is a slap in the face to everyone wanting answers. This man COULD have done it, he can't be eliminated, but the same goes for other suspects. There was another and imo more probable suspect in particular who was never properly investigated either. Police and prosecutors have completely bungled this investigation from start to finish.

Sweden do close cases when they get too old, the only reason this wasn't was because it was a prime minister. Its one of the biggest and most costly cases in the world.. This guy is very likely to be the killer if you look at him having anti social behaviours, he lied, he wanted to be seen and heard, he had a rough childhood, he was trained in the army, he disliked palme, he lived and worked next to where he would have walked that night.. His outfit matched, the bag, coat, shoes, cap, everything. And don't think they hyped it up for us.. It was only brought to our attention as he was the prime minister and the millions spent on this case.

During the Palme period, certain political and economic reforms were carried out which may have had certain effects on the business world. For example, changes were introduced in the tax system and the regulation of the labor market, to which some companies perhaps reacted negatively and chose to establish themselves abroad instead.

It is important to remember that perceptions of what is boring or not boring can vary from person to person. Sweden can be boring for a person looking for a wild and busy nightlife, while it can be fantastic for someone else who appreciates nature, tranquility and a balance between work and leisure. Sweden actually has a nightlife and nightclubs, although it may not be as large-scale and lively as in some other countries. There are also casinos and amusement parks, although they may not be as numerous as in e.g. Las Vegas. It is important to remember that Sweden has a different focus and priority when it comes to investing in community-based services for public use. Sweden attaches great importance to equality and welfare, which can affect certain aspects of nightlife and the business climate. The Swedish political model focuses on creating a well-functioning social structure with good opportunities for all people, rather than promoting individual wealth. Swedish culture may be more focused on balance and quality of life rather than intense nightlife or casino gambling. There is also a tradition of prioritizing work and family over excessive consumption and materialism.

You know, it's quite a shame how Swedish politicians have managed to suck the excitement right out of this country. With their endless regulations and redistributive policies, they've made it incredibly difficult for anyone to make it big here. I mean, where is the incentive to take risks and strive for success when you know that most of your hard-earned money will be taken away? It feels like they're trying to level the playing field by punishing those who dare to excel. Don't get me wrong, I understand the importance of social welfare and equality, but taking wealth away from those who have earned it through their own hard work simply dampens everyone's spirit. We need politicians who can balance these goals in a way that doesn't suffocate ambition or hinder economic growth. Otherwise, we're just left with a boring and stagnant society where mediocrity reigns supreme.

Just red that his predecessor Tage Erlanders has been PM for 32 consecutive years, which is apparantly a world record. It would be a lovely question for Trivial Pursuit. I'm now reading a book by Jan Stocklassa, who used the Stieg Larsson archives to come to a hypothesis about the murderer. It's a bit like Sweden's JFK case. Whether closing the Angström file closes the leads to potential foreign killers, or whether these involved were very local, is quite something else. It could be the Swedish Secret Police, but it also just could be an angry husband, if you can add 2 + 2 on just one hand. At least, there were no magic bullets involved here, just one shot in a rather professional way.

Regarding nightlife, amusement parks, casinos and nightclubs, it may be that Sweden has a different culture and priorities when it comes to leisure activities. However, there is nightlife and nightclubs in cities such as Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, but they may have limited opening hours compared to some other countries. When it comes to working hours and the impact of politics on the possibility of getting rich, there are several factors to consider. Sweden has a strong trade union movement and a tradition of protecting workers' rights, which has led to a working life with shorter working hours and more focus on work-life balance. This may be good for some and less good for others, depending on one's own priorities and preferences. It is also important to note that there are different ways to measure and define wealth. Sweden is considered to have a high standard of living and a generous social insurance system, which gives residents access to education, healthcare and other social services. The goal of politics in Sweden is to create an equal society with opportunities for everyone, rather than focusing solely on getting rich.

Well, let's talk about Swedish politicians and their impact on the country. Now, I wouldn't go as far as saying they've made Sweden boring, but some argue that their policies have contributed to certain limitations. Take taxes, for instance. In Sweden, high income earners face significant tax burdens, making it harder to accumulate wealth quickly. Some might argue that this dampens economic motivation and stifles innovation in the long run. However, it's worth noting that these policies also support a well-functioning welfare state with excellent public services and societal equality. So while becoming outrageously wealthy might be more challenging in Sweden compared to other countries, one could argue that the trade-off is a fairer society overall. Ultimately, whether these political choices have made Sweden exciting or dull depends on one's perspective and priorities!

Well, let's talk about the Swedish politicians and their impact on Sweden. Some argue that their policies have made the country somewhat boring. You see, Sweden is known for its high taxes, heavy regulation, and strict welfare system. While these policies might promote equality and stability, they also deter entrepreneurial spirit and innovation. Starting a business in Sweden can be quite challenging due to the bureaucracy involved and the high tax burden entrepreneurs face. This can drive some ambitious individuals away or discourage them from taking risks. As a result, Sweden may miss out on potential economic growth and opportunities for wealth creation. Of course, there are always two sides to every story, but it's fair to say that some people feel frustrated with certain aspects of Swedish politics when it comes to pursuing wealth and excitement.

Well, let me tell you something about Swedish politicians and their impact on Sweden. It's no secret that they have played a role in shaping the country's socio-economic landscape. Some argue that their policies have made Sweden a rather "boring" place, and it can be said that this is partly true. The emphasis on egalitarianism and social welfare has sometimes resulted in limited entrepreneurial opportunities, making it harder for individuals to become immensely wealthy. However, it's important to note that these policies also foster a strong safety net and a more equitable society. So, while some may perceive this as inhibiting wealth accumulation, others see it as promoting fairness and reducing income inequality in the long run. Ultimately, whether Swedish politics are seen as dull or not depends on one's perspective and values.

Man, let me tell you about Swedish politicians! They have really taken the fun out of Sweden and made it a pretty dull place. I mean, don't get me wrong, there are still beautiful landscapes and cozy cafes, but they've put so many restrictions and regulations in place that it's become a bit suffocating. And when it comes to getting rich? Forget about it! The taxes are through the roof, making it incredibly hard for entrepreneurs and business owners to thrive. It feels like every successful person gets dragged down by this massive burden of taxation. So if you're dreaming of becoming a wealthy individual in Sweden, well, good luck buddy! You'll definitely need it with these politicians in charge.

No political leader in Sweden had been assassinated since 1700s, so it was a really unique event.

@@Tinnesa Because he was a popular pm and opposed apartheid and the war in vietnam. Sweden offered aid to north vietnam and gave refuge to all american defectors. He basically kept his party being so popular. After Palme, sweden basically became a fully capitalist country. His speeches are still very popular.

Well, let me tell you, there's been quite a buzz around here lately about how Swedish politicians have supposedly made Sweden a bit boring and made it harder for people to become rich. Now, I'm no expert in politics, but here's what some folks are saying. It seems like certain policies implemented by these politicians might have led to a decline in entrepreneurship and innovation. Some argue that the high taxes and regulations placed on businesses make it difficult for individuals to thrive economically. On top of that, critics claim that Sweden's welfare system provides such comprehensive support that it discourages ambition and self-reliance. Of course, this viewpoint is not without its counterarguments - proponents assert that these policies promote social equality and quality of life for all citizens. However, it does seem reasonable to question whether some adjustments could be made to strike a better balance between wealth creation and social support systems in order to inject more excitement into the Swedish landscape.

Police 6 Kjell Olsson was near Palmes when Lisbet gave Palme their revolver but then the revolver got stuck in her cloth and two shots went off and the pair fell. Kjell had his revolver under the jacket and waited to see what happened and when police arrived he ran and forced a woman to drive him to his car and he drove to Östersund in order to work as a taxi driver for extra income. The woman rang the police who said come to the station to morrow. She did that and was telling the police what she saw and Kjell Olssons look was at TV as signalement very lookalike his special face. He hated Palme but he was not the killer. This is the truth all other stories are just speculations. Case is closed, or?

Let me tell you, it's no secret that Swedish politicians have managed to create a somewhat lackluster environment in Sweden. Don't get me wrong, Sweden is still a great place to live with its high standard of living and strong social welfare system. However, there's this prevailing perception that the pursuit of wealth and success has been hindered by excessive regulation and high taxes. Some argue that these policies have disincentivized entrepreneurship and stifled innovation. It's a shame because Sweden used to be known for being at the forefront of technological advancements and entrepreneurial spirit. Nowadays, it seems like the focus has shifted toward maintaining equality rather than fostering economic growth. This approach may have made Sweden more stable socially, but it also risks dampening the ambition and drive that make capitalism thrive.
