Charlie carrel is a fraud in this video. He just shows a tiny sample of aggro adaptation to a nitty pool that worked well in this instance (until they realise what’s going on). It wouldn’t work as well if people knew his real alias. Also it’s obvious that he has a deep understanding and evolved intuitive feel for the game which allows him to get away with these fancy plays while his students would easily just spew without the same xp : so not a good model or style to follow for aspiring pros or developing players.

Precisions on EVGD (EV Global Distribution) : 34:09
There is a mathematical concept in computer sciences called Idempotence.
Idempotence is a property of operations or functions that, when applied multiple times with the same input, produce the same result as if it were only applied once. In other words, the operation or function can be repeated multiple times without changing the result beyond the first application.
For example, let's take a piece of cake :
    Looking at a cake:
It is an idempotent situation : If you look at a cake once or twice, the result is the same, i.e., you see the same cake in the same state.
Eating the cake Eating a cake:
Non-idempotent: If you eat a piece of cake, the cake will be physically changed, and you cannot eat the same piece of cake again. If you eat the same piece of cake twice, it is not the same as eating it once, and the cake will eventually disappear.
    --
    Let's come back to Poker.
If you play in a GTO world (let's assume all players play close to E-Nash.)
You faced a bet on the river. Your hand is 0 EV to call. You can call or fold. Vilain will always play gto.
If you replicate this spot 1000 times. Either you're calling or you're folding, it doesn't change the EV of the call.
This is an non idempotent situation.
However vs a human, it's never ev0. It can be +EV, sometimes you loose a bit and sometimes a lot.
In an non idempotent situations. You have your EV distributed non equally depending on the sub population you're facing.
This creates EV global distribution, this doesn't exist in the gto world, but we play in the human world.
Fully explaining all impacts and metrics of EV Distribution probably takes 2 hours. This is my most powerful and secret concept, so that will not be for today .
Still gave a cool example in the UA-cam video.
    Peace.

    Precisions on MP-rules (BPA) :
    38:39
What I called MPR : (we can also named Bayesian Profiles Analysis)
Bayesian Profiles Analysis is a method of analyzing player tendencies in poker based on correlations in their play across different lines (e.g. calling, folding, checking etc...).
By identifying sub-populations of players with similar tendencies, we can weight their actions differently to gain insights into how they are likely to act in a given situation.
For example, suppose we identify a sub-population of fish players who tends to bet the pot on the flop.
Within this group, some players will check the turn with a weak hand (P2), while others will continue betting (P3).
Our analysis shows that players who belong to this sub-population (P1) are more likely to fold on the river if they checked the turn with a weak hand (P2) than if they continued betting (P3).
While this doesn't mean that a player holding a weak hand will always fold on the river, our analysis suggests that the proportion of players who will fold in this situation is higher than the proportion who will call.
We can use this information to our advantage by tailoring our own betting strategy based on the tendencies of players in this sub-population (P1) and other sub-populations like those who tend to fold more often when facing a river bet (P4).
Overall, Bayesian Profiles Analysis (or MPR) provides a powerful tool for gaining insights into player tendencies and making more informed decisions at the poker table.
However, it is important to use this method with caution, as mistakes in analysis can be costly and may outweigh the potential benefits.

    Precisions on EDEV 0:58
EDEV (or EEVD Evolution of EV Distribution) helps you to understand how EV is distributed depending on the scenarios you're in. For example, "I have an edge so I call." Making this assumption changes automatically your EV in the other lines (here the 3B line).
Here, if we expect calling to be EV+ with KQo, there is a high chance that in scenarios where KQo is actually +EV to call, KQo makes more money by 3B.
You can represent this with a graph and three curves with different colors. On the Y-axis, you have the EV. On the X-axis, you have different assumptions/scenarios. EV is going to change depending on the scenario (I play vs. a fish, I play vs. a passive player, etc.).
I don't see any scenarios where calling is higher EV than the 3bet. It will be represented by the "3B curve" always being above the "calling curve," which means the EDEV of the spot shows 3B > Call in any scenarios (this is just to visualize, mathematically you can't say the curve is above another one).
If done quickly IG, you can save time in your thinking process, and you can visualize EV differences between the scenarios better. It's not the most useful concept also not the most difficult one, but still a cool one.

    • @shanepinkerton9295
      @shanepinkerton9295 Рік тому

This is a very good explanation of an advanced concept. Just out of curiosity, are these scenarios assuming players are attempting to play as close to GTO as possible? We all know Charlie loves his GTO and he gains a lot of EV in unconventional lines that a simulated model may not account for.

    • @YolanCohenPoker

@@shanepinkerton9295 you can use CREV or other software to calculate EV depending on assumptions you make.

I'm not sure I follow this concept?
Maybe I'm not getting it right, but it sounds like you're saying: factors which change the EV of one line disproportionally compared to the EVs of other lines don't exist.
I disagree with this notion, even disregarding the obvious "rec in BB" exception.
To me, it would seem (at the very least theoretically) possible to have pool data or reads that someone loses more EV Postflop playing against a flat compared to playing against a 3b.
Or did you just mean that in *this specific situation*, you didn't see any factors which could disproportionally affect the Call EV?
In general, it's obviously true that changing the EV of one line, by the definition of how GTO works, also affects the EV of other gametree branches.
I just disagree with the idea that a certain change of the total EV distribution is necessarily proportionally distributed over all gametree branches.
I don't see a theoretical reason why factors that change one line's EV disproportionally (to the point of that line actually becoming higher EV) can't exist, and in practice it's quite easy to imagine such factors (even if it's an exaggerated scenario, like someone who plays perfect GTO against 3b, but loves jamming junk on the flop into a flatting range).
Maybe you're just saying that *in practice*, you don't see any such factors here, which is obviously entirely fair. But again, I don't see why at least in theory, it's not impossible for the EEVD to not be proportionally distributed over all gametree branches.
      Lmk what you think :)
Your thought process is really fun, informative and stimulating to listen to, and it's easy to see that you're very very smart. Your understanding of the game is outstanding.

    • @YolanCohenPoker
      @YolanCohenPoker  Рік тому +1

For reasons i explained in game, if you assume calling is great, it means the pool has deviations in other lines
If they deviate there is a high probability they are deviating in the 3b line. So i dont expect calling to be higher in ev compared to 3b. Even if I think calling is better than folding if youre skilled and you have Kqo here.
Also I think you need to see the big pictures, and you gain money by people folding vs cb, and also folding Preflop.
I can bet a significant amount of money here that 3bet makes more money than the call. If you assume you're not super bad in 3B pot and a grand master in flatting the sb. Cause your skill directly impact the EV of your hand too.
