Used to have one of these back in the day! One of my functions was engineering project manager and I found the date calculation functions very useful. I think I lent it to someone and never saw it again. I loved it. Great to see it again.
Oh, that's a truly rotten move by whoever kept it. Makes me want to keep this one under lock and key. But I'm happy if my silly video brought back a good memory.
A small leather strap with a snap to hold it closed would be the cherry on top. This is a fantastic build! Very reminiscent of something Adam Savage would do.
Awesome video! Wasn't expecting a teardown, leatherwork, and rocking mall music. The YT gods (algorithms) are smiling upon you! This popped on my main page.
Thank you, that's very kind! And you're right on the voiceover/music balance -- it's something I can't nail down consistently yet. Hopefully I'll get it figured out soon.
I'm surprised they didn't make an engineering or financial calculator with the lighter function. I guess that would take away from the exclusive executive toy aesthetic.
Thank you! Agreed, it needs help staying closed, although I suppose it's not a big deal if it's in your pocket. I did consider a magnetic closure, but was worried that there's some weird... relay or something else mechanical on the PCB that I couldn't see, and that the magnet might interfere with it. That's incredibly unlikely but so's putting a lighter in the body of a calculator...

Long but GREAT video of a master craftsman at work. Loved the interjected humor.
You're much too kind -- thank you!
Saw this from the ASMBLY newsletter, cool project!
Thank you :) I was there for your showcase presentation a couple months ago -- now that was an impressive build!

That' a huge compliment, thank you!
Great video! In the future, try having the music stay the same quiet volume throughout the video even when not talking
Thank you! And yes -- I think that could help the sound issues others noted. I need to strike a better balance next time around.
Yeah agreed, was a little annoying it going up and down but otherwise the video was good :)

All hail the algorithm! Glad to see the ritual sacrifice worked :) And thank you for the kind words.
Fantastic! So many skills in one video, and great synth vibe, too.
Thank you :) I appreciate that. The music selection is a perpetual struggle for me, so I'm glad it landed with some folks.
Nice video man! Saw this featured in the Asmbly newsletter. I’m in Austin too, by the way. Hope to meet you sometime!
Thank you and likewise! I've met many makers through Asmbly and I'm glad it has reach beyond its walls.
really good video. production quality of channels with far more subs. subscribed for this
I appreciate the kind words :)
Wasn't expecting leatherworking given the title, incredible design though. Music was a little distracting, could be a little quieter maybe

Finally, the lighter for my high flying lifestyle.
Edit: That's a damn fine looking watch
Hello pocket friend!
never knew i needed one of these 🔥🔥
super high quality video, you're gonna make it big
Thank you, I appreciate the encouragement!
Leatherworking and electronics, together at last!
I'm just giving the masses what they've been asking for decades!
awesome

Life Cycles sounds like a birth-control device for the rhythm method.
The yt ad was for the Casio PRIVIA PX-S7000BK 😂
Oh good! I'm really glad that my video is providing exposure to this unknown brand :D
Great video, I'm now a subscriber. I feel like you needed a magnetic strap to keep the case closed or something
