There are 2 aspects that I think would be good to re consider and for the population to think about. (there can be more issues as i need to have an indepth read of the bill which i haven't done yet) 1st: the appointments and the nominations of the director and the president of the body in charge for these matters. What if the new body dedicated to supervise and work on these issues end up like ICAC?. We all know certain people will end up being immune as long as they have political connections. The nominees themselves are being appointed by the government. Doesn't matter whether he/she was a ex Chief Judge or some high ranked learned person, there need be a proper separation of powers per se. Why not give the task of appointing the director and the president to an independent body ? or better, let the public vote as it is there personal belongings that will be questioned. 2nd: the 7 years time limit. Why 7 years only? What about those who had acquired dirty money 8 years, 10 years or longer from now? How about those who have built legit empires with dirty money ? And yes what about those whose dirty money has already left the country? This type of bill should be passed for there are many cases of unexplained wealth in this country but do it for all equally and fairly.
