You're right. The issue is the system. And that's on the manager. Trying to shoehorn in all the stars and leaving out one or two water carriers is a schoolboy error.
“Times when mainoo lost it.” Factually he completed 65/68 passes, pretty much the highest percentage on the pitch. He also won 4/6 duels. To me he had a quiet game and didn’t play as well as he did against Slovenia. But you hv a crazy pro TAA agenda that is just not backed up by facts.
Really nice of England the time to allow the opposition team to reset and get back into position by playing so slowly and passing backwards and sideways between Rice and the defenders. Such good sportsmanship. Fair game for all!!
I thought watching Liverpool's impotent and ponderous passing around at the back was frustrating to watch, but England was even more dire. I'm not even English; Trent and Gomez weren't playing, I don't know why I subject myself to torture like this. Southgate has more than 1 solution for Shaw being unavailable. Gomez has the most experience among the non-left back defenders at playing left-back and yet Southgate prefers Trippier over Gomez. He could also simply go back to 3-at-the-back. That he does neither is the epitome of stubborn hubris. It is clear from Arsenal's experiments that Rice is much better as an 8 than a 6. Playing Guehi, Walker and one of either Gomez or Konsa at the back, and Stones and Trent as double pivot with Rice and Bellingham as 8.5s in a 3-2-2-3 will give England so much more control and penetration. Play Eze/Gordon and Palmer/Saka as the left and right wing forwards and have Foden rotating with either Kane at the 9 or Bellingham at the 8.
The teams mentality feels more like hodgson's Liverpool but with players good enough to play under prime klopp. I don't follow England but if they win its despite of tactics slovakia looked comfortable and it took a fluke goal to break them. Compare the squad to Spain tonight then compare the performance
Nice to hear some positivity about the England side. While they're in the tournament, as fans, we ought to be backing them to the hilt. There's a ton of potential in this side. Hopefully this win sparks them to take it up a notch. C'mon England!
I find it crazy tho that mainoo is performing to the level he is ,his first ever international tournament and hes the best player in the england team, the stats back him up too
Drivel. England were 30 seconds away from an embarrassment worse than the Iceland defeat. Southgate is getting lucky, lucky with the group, lucky with the draw, lucky to get out of jail with a bicycle kick in the 94th minute. It's as simple as that
Yeah it makes sense why you want your talented players on the pitch but if the sole reason is to hope for a moment of brilliant in the 95th minute against slovakia then you are absolutely screwed. We needed to see some positive tactical changes that aren't just forced through injury. We could have absolutely won that game and taken off a couple of players if we had the same ability to play through a press as Slovakia but for whatever reason we didn't. It's also more reason not to start all your match winners because it means when you make changes you're completely removing them from the game. A couple of tweaks and I genuinely think we can click but that starting lineup just isn't it.
wow Bellingham - england might just win it Gareth's way - by then most of us here and all of europe will need a long long break from football -tennis anyone?
I usually love your level headed analysis and the way you look for positives, but I really do think you missed the mark here Laurence. England have been so utterly piss poor throughout this tournament that trying to analyse with an optimistic frame feels naive at best and disingenuous at worst. We were so, so bad, and didn’t spark into life at all. Yes it must be tough for the players to hear the negativity when it’s Southgate’s fault for his terrible tactics, but that’s just the way it is when things are this dire.
@laurencemckenna in the 95th minute, where was the spark before? We were awful again. Foden's disallowed goal showed how we could rip through them play forward, with intensity and speed with the ball. It sits with the mind set the manager wants, passive, defensive, safe.
@@laurencemckennaI agree England looked confident after the equaliser but after they went in the lead it was so negative inviting pressure definitely manager instructions
I now follow england because i support Madrid. This was a bad game. They just assembled an allstar team and played them with zero cohesion. It’s not the tactics, it’s not the players being bad. England were lucky that they have the best player in the world, Jude Bellingham, who is clutch because Madrid. England were lucky twice that they have the best striker in the world, Harry Kane who knows where to be even without service.
Genuine question, why follow a country you're not from? I appreciate as a Madrid fan you'd keep an eye on how Bellingham is doing, but to actually follow a different national team? I ask because I've also seen so many Americans in Argentinian shirts because of Messi. I genuinely don't get it.
@@rustiouk760 surely you understand that if you follow a sport where your own country is terrible at it, you might end up "following" another team, not a die hard fan, just following them a bit , its not that deep
10:00 onwards such a clueless take what do you mean with the players of our quality that we don’t have a manager that can set them up correctly, ‘just let them figure it out’ and btw Spain have dealt with a low block really well by committing players and stretching play in the final third, that did that against Georgia do dont generalise and make excuses for Southgate, shows your ball IQ is left wanting, not everyone is qualified for this game

Chicken or the egg. The negativity is there because of the poor performance of players who make more than us plebs will make in a lifetime, in 4-6 weeks. They aren’t playing that way because they entered negative the first game. You’re absurd.

Up until the point that he was subbed off, him and Palmer looked like the only players on the pitch who gave a damn.
0 G/A does not mean quiet though. Mainoo was a baller

When is Foden going to be dropped? How many times does he have to desperately fit him into a system that has no room for him?!
He didn't do well in the centre during the friendlies either.
the others didn't do very well either, but of course you have to showcase your anti-City agenda
Thanks for the coverage as always 👊🏿

Some great calls here as usual, well done
I reckon Switzerland will kick them out of the euros. So much is lacking from this England team in order for them to genuinely compete.
Oiii this is one of the best UA-cam videos I’ve watched in a while
5 mins in and I'm like wtf are u on about.... get to the fkn point already
This luck and making Slovenia look like Prime Spain needs to be studied in universities

No shots on target the whole game
But Spain play football towards the oppositions net we were NOT pragmatic just lucky very lucky

Of course his 2 suggested changes are removing 2 City players. Man can't run free from the agenda
Bellingham is an English mctominay, may score a clutch goal every now and then but play poor for the rest of the game
