I was finally able to get a Grundig 800 a few days ago. Its a great Radio. I've been looking for quite a while. I did see them on eBay usually way over price and on Kijiji. I was able to get this one which was from a single user who had purchased it some years ago. He was a ham radio operator and all of his equipment new and old was in mint condition. Very happy with the radio. It looks great with my other receivers.
Way to go.
The Tecsun H-501X is a fantastic radio. I love it it’s one of my favorite radios from Tecsun. I also own The Tecsun S-8800 and The Tecsun PL-909X. Love them all. Great video Tom 👍👍

Thanks and have a great day.
I also picked up China early this morning From Shediac River New Brunswick Canada on my Elite Field receiver. The sound was a little deeper with my Grundig 800. To give you an idea of my location, I am about 150 miles from Oak Island Nova Scotia . Liked you video.
Thanks and have a great day.
Toms radio room your Grundig 800 and the Tecsun H 50,1x is so awesome
Tom, always appreciate the great comparisons with the different radios on your posts. Thank You!
I still like the Satellite 800 a little bit better but Tecsun is making them really good 👍
Thanks and have a great day.
This is one advantage that analog technology is better when it comes to lower noise floors since the digital hash from PLL and
especially DSP radios cannot be fully isolated. A compromise which used to be decent was the analog receiver with a digital frequency counter which could be shut off when you find the frequency you want to listen to for the absolute lowest noise floor.
The Panasonics from the late 70s and early 80s had this design, IE..RF-2800,4800, 2900, 4900.
Thanks for the info and have a great day.
Great to have Tecsun making these great radios. Great review Tom, thanks
In my never ending search for cool old radios I found a SANYO Transworld Model 18H-815. This is a class of radio in keeping with the Zenith Transoceanic types of the 60's & 70's
Thanks for your support and have a great day.
@hamrad88
*The Grundig 800 seems just a little bit better with a slightly lower noise floor than the Tecsun, but then again the 800 was a lot more expensive when brand new compared to this Tecsun today. *I LOVE THESE COMPARISONS TOM. I HOPE YOU DO MORE!*
I hope to do more now that I am feeling better.
@@hamrad88 Hi Tom, glad to hear you are feeling better, I'm sorry I didn't realize you were ill! Hope you have a full recovery!
@@watershed44 Thanks
Nice video. I haven't seen you much or been listening lately. I've been studying Cw. Great video. Two great radios. I have the Tecsun version of the Grundig. Please keep rolling Bro.
I hope to do more shows now that I am feeling better.
Awesome video. 👍🙂
Thanks and have a great day.
Toms radio room your utube videos are awesome
Thanks Tom. How about comparing the H-501X with the Grundig 750?
OK. I will put on the list. Thanks and have a great day.
Can't wait! Thanks Tom.
@@AkhmadHidayat I just upload a video for that.
Hi Tom, I'm a long time follower of your radio tests. Where you are in the US it might be a bit more of a challenge for your receivers to tune in CHU Canada the Canadian time signal station. It would also be helpful to Canadians, such as myself, for you and your followers to exert some international pressure on Canada to reestablish the SW Services of Radio Canada International. RCI & Radio Australia are more needed than ever. Any help you and your followers can provide would be greatly appreciated.
It's funny how the "preacher man" still needs money even though he's now deceased. 😜 I think shortwave is going to be haunted by that guy for some time to come. WRMI and WWCR would probably have to close if the Brother "Scare" people ever stop buying air time. I enjoyed the video, Tom. Cheers!
Thanks and have a great day.
Saludos! I have a Grundig Satellit 500 in perfect conditions. I don't use it and a person wants to buy it but I have no idea of the monetary value of it. Could you help me?
My guess is $200 to $250.
hello Tom. Did you find any news using your fancy radios about the civil war in Ethiopia or the clashes in Sudan? I have a black skin color and I only care about foreign wars of beautiful black people like me
Sorry no. I will be listening for those.
Thank you. They are even more entertaining
