I have completed IronMan, and you are right, tighten the screws! I am currently working on R2, and they sent me kit number 9 (but it had the parts for kit number 6 inside) mistakenly and I contacted them and they sent the right parts to me in about a week! So, I can confirm that everything you said is correct! It's funny that you mentioned the base, because I want to do the same thing! I am planning on putting some upwards facing spot lights on it as well. And also to make it externally powered (no batteries). Great video!
Thanks. Yeah, I have replaced the lights in the base with some plug in leds. Looks great and doesn't get hot. I have a great system of lights I am working on for converting iron man as well. I think you'll have fun with R2. I do wish I had painted him along the way with Tamiya color ts-19 metalic blue.
How long did it take and how many packages did you get by the end
@@griggs07 25 months. The first and last have only 2 stages. It was one package a month.
Your reply is so helpful, and thank you tons!
@@kevinnorman5110 sure
It's official! You can now get Iron Man in one delivery. And this will be happening with more kits.
I'm wondering how big the box will be 😅
@@TheTboy007 probably big! All the fanhome boxes I got could fill a wall and they were pretty full when they came to me.
Now i get how they see the 2 years build time. I would have 1 package per month with 4 booklets and could build one each week. So i would have a project that keeps me entertaint for 2 years. But i still would prefer to build it in longer sessions with some old movie running in the background. I want to finish something like this in a few months and then have the space free to build the next cool thing. There is too much that i want to do and i don't want so much unfinished stuff cluttered all around.
I understand. Thanks for watching!
After seeing your videos I started the Millenenium Falcon. Almost 1/4 way through build. Because of the quality I am getting, I just started the Batmobile. Yes it is worth it.
Awesome!
I like the R2, I think it's nice for what you get. But their Optimus Prime isn't. It doesn't even transform. So, for anyone curious, the Optimus Prime model has 115 stages. The first package is $1.95, and containes two stages (issues) The second package costs $51.57. The next packages contain 4 stages/issues each. Packages 3-6 are $70.56, for a total of $282.24. Packages 7-25 at $74.56 each (times 19 is $1416.64). There are 26 stages total, and the last one is $37.28. Grand total for this project will take about 2 years and $1789.68 (plus shipping fees and taxes). It's a very nice model for sure, but a bit too pricey for me!
Understood!
I'm on Stage 9 of R2 and I've been putting the extra pieces/screws in a zip lock bag labeled for each stage, since the instructions will say "use the silver screw from Issue 7" and then I pile everything in the big box they sent for Stage 7-11.
I agree.
What was your final cost for the Iron Man figure ?
They gave it to me. The price varies based on the location, codes used and time of year. Last Thanksgiving that item was 25% off.
@@YourGeekFixyou specifically said “more money than I paid into it” suggesting you paid money for it and now in the comments you’re saying it’s free.
At least do some research and drop estimates also should disclose that it was given to you.
I found your video because I’m trying to sus out if fanhome is a scam and this doesn’t give me too much confidence.
@trunolimit it is disclosed three times in the video, the video has a label twice that the models were give n to me, and there is a tag identifier that it was sponsored. The cost varies quickly and depends on your location, when you baught it, and what coupon code you used. Last November both of these were 45% off the total subscription. When do I say that I paid for it?
@@trunolimit oh, for the r2 I did have to pay 60 dollars for batteries.
@@YourGeekFixyou just said last thanksgiving they where 25% off then you said last November they where both 45% off???
Great review- for the price it is comparable to buying now, but I like the fact you build your own and have the nice magazines to read through as well. The concerns you listed in the video I have as well, but buying all up front is a way to avoid shipping delays or the store closibg
Thanks for watching.
I talked to customer support yesterday and there is no way to buy it all at once which made me sad. I am glad to hear you can cancel and restart though if something comes up.
I've watched most of these video's and would like to thank you for showing the whole build, sometimes i watch (listen to) it on a second monitor while doing work 👍Really looking into starting to build the Delorean or the Ecto-1
Thanks!
These are so cool thanks for sharing your experience. I’m waiting for my first package for r2 now🙏
R2 was a lot of fun and I show him off a lot. Just keep track of all the screws they send better than I did.
I started the etco1 with eagle moss , now I’m finishing with fanhome , and I started the new bat mobile , and the delorean
I am doing the bttf car as well.
I just recently found out about JazzInc Dioramas and Fanhome. While Jazzinc has international shipping, Fanhome could not ship their products here in the Philippines.
Jazzinc is awesome! Did you see our interview with him? What part of the Philippines? Which language do you speak?
Love the reviews, I my self just started the millennium falcon, enjoying it so far just two kits in. Was wondering if you hear any rumblings of Fan Home is going to rerelease the Terminator model? Keep up the good work.
I haven't heard. They did release in the UK and US usually follows.
Thanks for the reply. And keep up the good work!

@@stevepozsonyi5766 that's cool
I'm doing the Power Rangers Megazord. I got 2 of the heads put together with the LEDs and it's amazing. But it's a damn shame that they aren't doing the physical manuals for it. Idk if I eventually do the R2 if those would be all digital manuals too.
@@CNTconnoisseur i got to see that in person. Very cool!
So I’m confused how much is each shipment I saw 1600.00 to build this?
Which one, from what state and country, do you have a coupon code? I wouldn't be surprised if there is a sale around Easter. They had 40% off around Thanksgiving
@@YourGeekFix I’m in the US no I don’t have a coupon does anyone have any?
@@Al-mu4ff Go on google and look up Fanhome coupon code. If the model you want isn't available, wait until one becomes available.
Holy cow… I’m a 1/6 scale collector and a UA-camr I watch just started the Enterprise. I had never heard of this site… and I’m already hooked… Robocop sounds like fun. As well as ET and R2. This seems like a lot of fun. And super cool they’re made of metal AND articulated.
Awesome!
I'm really loving fanhome right now. I have a couple of builds I had to stop due to budget restraints but I'm finally getting back into it. Continuing my r2d2 and patiently waiting for e.t to drop in December.
I love the r2 build. I would be interested to hear your ET experience.
I will keep you updated. It drops in December like I said and I'm a huge fan of both r2 and et.
@@victorbaugh1355 awesome
Also did you ever cancel a build then try and start it up again. Trying to do that with my r2d2 from issue 7 from an pre-existing subscription.
@@victorbaugh1355 I have not, but fanhome makes it easy by logging into your account. You can pause it. Just do so before they ship the next one.
How tall is the actual R2 unit be at the end?
About 22 inches

I signed up for the 1/8 scale 66 Batmobile so that I can put my Beast King Batman and Robin figures in the vehicle. However, I probably won't sign up for another unless it's the B9 robot from Lost in Space.
Tyhat is awesome. I was wondering when they would release it.
Currently, I'm on the fence as to whether these builds are worth it. At the moment I have Iron Man, Enterprise D and ECTO-1 in progress, and was able to complete the Delorean build before EM went belly up. NOW, I have to say that I will not be taking on any more of these builds, mainly because of space issues. They are, as you said, rather large and I just don't have the room. I've never planned on doing the R2D2 build mainly because of the unique batteries that are required for it - if I can't just run down to the local hardware store and snap up what I need then forget it! I'm also not as enamored with Fanhome now. All of a sudden we're having 'Out of Stock' issues again, the same excuses that we were getting from EM before they went under. I don't need THAT again! So, is it worth it? I don't know at this point. Right now all I want to do is be able to finish the three builds I have going currently. That'll be it for me if I can do that.
Good luck
Nice balanced viewpoint, only couple of gripes, most of the external R2 body is plastic, I've since made the Eleanor Mustang and Knight Rider. Other thing I'd say, resale value isn't great, a lot of these builds end up being sold completed or as parts only for less than the original price (individual parts/issues however can get greatly inflated lol!)
Bad news, in UK at least, partwork pricing structures are changing, theyre going from £45-ish a month up to £65 and even more for the last few deliveries to squeeze 120/130 issues into 24 months, disapointing as if anything I would have liked a bi-monthly option to make the monthly outlay more affordable.
Which means, as well as having no more space, I'm holding out for the '89 Burton Batmobile!
Test run has been released in France, so hopefully in the next couple of years that will be my last build, can't get the Jazz Inc/Hot Toys so this will be my only shot at a large scale replica
@paxo666 I'm friends with Joost at Jazz Inc. I think R2 kind if had to be plastic exterior due to his already heavy interior. I don't mind it. He is amazing and fun to show off. I will be making a video to show how to make iron man always on. Sorry to hear out changes in the UK.
Like your Iron Man and am considering building him. I saw on their webpage that they now offer a subscription to build him in one year. Or go standard, and go two years. I've just started building RoboCop and am happy with the process so far. I wish they would offer a similar deal with RoboCop, and have him completed within a year.
Interesting! Are you in the US or Europe.
@@YourGeekFixin the US.

how long it took u to build iron man
25 months, one month more than two years.
@@YourGeekFix WOW THAT MUCH LONG..IS IT WAY TOO TEDIOUS
@@ramanjeet1111 it went fast. Wasn't a problem.
Great that you had such a positive experience with Iron Man. Mine is still lying in two halfs on his stand, as he does not fit properly together. His standing abilities are quite worrying to me. I now understand why Hot Toys mostly likes to put die cast into the lower part of their figures. They should have done the same with this guy, as he has difficulties supporting himself (maybe a statue would be a better choice at this size?) This Iron Man's standpost just sits very wobbly in its socket, I do not trust it to support the big figure in any way. Two plastic parts have already broken off (reglued them).
I looked into reselling him, but it seems he does not move on ebay. So nobody seems to want him. I am stuck with him. So I will try to make the best out of the situation. But happy? No, I am not.
I knew in advance from watching videos like mine to tighten and over tighten every joint. The last stages had a magazine addressing this too late. You can go back in and tighten them. The link pieces are similar. Try one of the other links and see if they work.
Call fanhome about yhe broken parts and they will send them at no cost.
I Think Eaglemoss back in the day was trying to get a 1966 Batmobile build going. I would be down for that if Fanhouse can get that going.
They had a licensing issue backthen that a lot of toy companies ran into. To get around this, they had slight detailed differences and called it something slightly different.
From what I heard fanhome are ment to be launching it next month
@@carlpochin9383 that sounds good
@@YourGeekFix have you looked up Agora part works? . The quality is a lot better

Awesome, thanks
Yup
I'm currently getting my R2-D2 now, I'm on package 11 or 12, I think (part 32-36). I agree that building it up bit by bit would be the way I'd prefer to go about it, I have little ones that like to get into things daddy does (like my Warhammer40k Necrons) and let's just say I think R2 wouldn't make it lol. I am going to customize him (mostly just a different paint scheme) so I know once I get the 26th box I'm going to have a lot of work ahead of me, but it should be one heck of a ride.
Make sure you measure carefully when they tell you too it will matter later
@@YourGeekFix thanks for the tip, I'll remember that 👍🏻
Building R2 helped me quit smoking ! ... Infact the cost of the cigs payed for it ....
That's great!
Well turned out so nice maybe it's just how UA-cam is but I would never invest two years and a project that big could you like you say it's a gamble you don't know if the company will still be in business or if you're even interested to finish it a year in and then you just stuck with the half built bunch of junk basically good thing you didn't have to pay for so you were inspired I would say to complete it because really all it cost you was your time and that's it but man you got the DeLorean Ghostbusters and the enterprise to do that's too bigger than investment in time I mean even for me I would not have the patient to do one of those let alone three of them it's gonna be at least five years even if you alternate it one week in between did they build them simultaneously still three years maybe more who knows if we're gonna be here in three years at I commend you but I wouldn't do it
Understood. It felt like the boxes were coming out so back to back it went fast, but a lot of work. I did invest in the mods for back to the future.
Two years is WAY TOO LONG to wait to finish a model. I would want all the parts at once.

For the price couldn’t you buy something like that already made? That R2 maybe not, thats so cool. It sounds good for someone who likes building though, thats not me.

If you haven't paid for it then it's not an unbiased review.
Ok. Did you hear honest criticism that would impact your choice to buy?
with the Knight rider build if you paid extra per issue you received a display case which was shown in the magazine now when we all finished they sent out the good display cases to youtubers and site owners and the rest of us got some cheap substitute that looks like it came from aliexpress they refuse to replace or refund the 120 pounds that they charged for it so fanhome are no more than scammers in my eyes ..so again is it worth it no
Did you call them?
yes they said they would look into it that was 2 weeks ago now along with many others they wont talk to us some have had emails saying they have no other replacement and thats all they are prepared to do so all in all very poor @@YourGeekFix

@matthewblouin4267 in October I will be visiting fanhome and seeing many of the new models in person.
the program should be more flexible, 2 years is too long...
4 payments - months should be an option.
to me, a sentinel would be more attractive than an Ironman at this size.
I can imagine a nice scene with 2 of them mixed with some 6' legends.
Haslabs are gone now, a rat race, this is long term, unless they foreclose too....
for the r2, I d really like a life size one.
if he could act as security alert, that d be very convenient and attractive for the money.
maybe it d go up to 2K, but hey, electric bikes go for that today,
and they can t act as security measures.
maybe another type of robot could be even better, a tracked one that can go outside.
a 'short circuit' type, n # 5, Johnny, that could also be quite interesting.
the 'laser' could be a powerful spotlight to freeze trespassers.
; stay right where you are, or I ll shoot!
ha, ha!
for that kind of money and time, I d expect more than just a display - rc toy myself.
yeah, they look nice, but also an expensive hassle.
even the official sentinels were not a great success as I see it,
as, they re not really poseable like the 6' legends,
while they might have all articulations, in practice, it seems pretty limited to standing up.
the trick is the joints, they need to handle the weight, the technique does nt seem to be quite tight enough yet.
still, great acquisitions, they just look fab.
R2 also seems fun and entertaining, the camera is close to security if you can control him via your phone.
we re almost at the Jetsons at this point, unlock the door and monitor visitors with your robot via your cell...
probably speaking through the robot ; thank you for your cooperation!
; stay out of trouble!
good show bro.
I like them. A full size R2 usually go for more than a motorcycle these days. Big investment.
