Nice job. I think I may have glued the meeting surfaces of the leg and bench as well as just the dowels but I think what you did should hold just fine. BTW, who plays the piano and who was the unlucky soul who was sitting on it when it collapsed? 🤕
I thought about gluing the two surfaces together as well. I did that on a previous fix and it held quite well until it was broken recently. No one was sitting on it at the time. It just got dropped at a funny angle. Kerri and Matthew play. I am not musically talented at all.
Great job! I have used dowels before, but never seen the marker points, a great idea. You are luck that Kerri let you use the counter top, I tried that once and was banned from ever doing it again.
LOL! That was not very smart of me to use the countertop. Our house is pretty small and does not have a garage or workbench. I didn't feel like crawling around on the floor to do the repair. Guess I could have used the kitchen table. It is rough textured wood.

Good job on repairing the bench. Nicely thought out on that one.
Thank you sir!
😁 thanks, love! our poor piano and bench have seen several rescues and live on to play another day.
We have to keep it playing on indeed! And of course, not have the bench collapse under us.

having a working garage / shop will be an improvement!
