I love these old detective shows. I've missed the radio, as it used to be, for a very long time -- ever since TV went bad after its brief "Golden Age" in the 1950's. It's wonderful to have so many of these relics from happier times available here and now. It proves that -- at least sometimes -- you CAN go home again. Thanks!
Richard Diamond came at the end of radio but Dick Powell had always planned to play it on tv. By the time he was in a position to produce it he had already known he had cancer and as a favor to him for giving him his start as a writer Aaron Spelling brought it to tv but changed the name to Amos Burke in Burke's Law with Gene Barry.
SIRRIUS satellite radio ch82. They have the old radio shows. I don't watch the radio. Either the microwave or the clothes dryer, depending on what's in em!
You play the audio on your computer and listen to it while you're doing dishes or cleaning your den or whatever. Or you can just sit back and relax and enjoy the story. 30,000 people have done that with this episode alone.

Great characters. Fun show. I'm surprised that it wasn't a bigger hit for Powell and co. I love these shows.

Ole Detective 1940s Radio shows
I Agree. TV has very little to offer. But radio? Who wants to look at a radio for an hour?
who wants to "hear & see" a radio?
After reading some of these comments I have come to realize there are many more people than I thought who cannot walk & chew gum.
