This is one of the greatest videos on youtube, I swear. Mad respect to you Ravenclaw.
Here's hoping for a part 2. The character image songs are so underrated and many of them are genuine bangers. If you miss those you miss out on so much: Azusa's spicy vocals and her secret appreciation that the girls fed her fun and crazy side; Nodoka's beautiful singing voice; Jun's AMAZING jazzy and irreverent musical style; Ritsu either destroying the drums or showing her sweet and vulnerable side; Ui singing about her love for Yui (naturally); and of course a whole bunch of pure MUGI!
Not to mention there's not a single reaction video on youtube dedicated to the character image songs. So if you dedicated care and time to them, you would be the first

There's actually a fully recorded version of Fuwa Fuwa Time with Mio on the lead vocals and husky voiced Yui on the backing, and it's hilarious. Aki Toyosaki also recorded a Yui version of Hey Jude!

I come back to K-On songs every year or so, and it takes about 3 minutes for me to fall in love with them all over again. No Thank You will always be my favorite, although I admittedly skip over Gohan wa Okazu more often then not. I appreciate with their different albums how they tweak the audio to give us a studio feel, a live concert vibe, or like listening to an old school cassette. Writing this before starting the 4 hour marathon... looking forward to your insights (but seriously, 4 hours?!).

Honestly I thought the totality of the project was going to be 'a whopping 3 hours'.... and then I actually sat down to listen to the tracks, and realised I had grossly underestimated the time needed to just scrape the surface of how great these tracks are. Hope you enjoy!

@@ravenclawreacts Thoroughly enjoyed your analysis! Your musical background and explanations on the technical side of things, gave us non-musically educated peons lots of "oh yeah!" moments. Also the genuine reactions to unexpected shifts or killer solos were a delight as your whole face lit up in glee. I never thought about it, but having the lyrics reflect that the character of Mio wrote then, and not some studio composer, is another act of genius on KyoAni's part; although at this point it's a wonder I'm surprised at their attention to detail.
Anyway, after watching I had "Honey Sweet Tea Time" in my head for a good 12 hours afterwards, and you need to do a Part 2 now... since you forgot to listen to "Listen!" (the Second Seasons first ED).

I didn't realize how much I needed this. Just started a new job with a long commute and this is the perfect thing to listen to. A chance to revisit K-On! and learn about music theory at the same time - what a dream. This is truly amazing, thank you.
Update: finally finished this after 3 days. I will never not be amazed at how much music was made for this show, and how unreasonably good it is.
For part 2, I'll definitely recommend 'Ohayou, Mata Ashita'. It's upbeat, jazzy, and features solo parts from all five girls. Enough said.
+1000 to the Come With Me! reaction. The VAs have amazing stage presence and it's so much fun.

Hey mate late to the party but congrats on the new job! Hope it's going well. Happy I could help alleviate some of that commute pain haha. 'Ohayou, Mata Ashita' has come up a few times in the recommendations so definitely listening to that in Part 2.
Yeah the thing that blows my mind the most is... on top of producing a full blown anime, they had the energy and time to produce several hundred tracks (vocal and instrumental). Just.. how

My favorite thing about Mio's singing is how she adds a lot of these like sharp, upward hooks at the end of her phrases. It's such a distinct character to her style of singing. She does it a lot in Listen!! (2nd ED).

Hi! Just wanted to say that I found your channel through your Hololive music reactions (disclaimer: I'm a Hoshiyomi), and saw that you've done a full series K-On reaction. K-On! is my all time favorite show and decided to do the annual /r/anime rewatch with your reactions. Honestly I shouldn't have been surprised at how fun, insightful, deep, predictive (like seriously wth), and insane your observations were considering how insightful and insane your music analysis is. I'm definitely looking forward to rewatching my other favorite shows along with your reaction, as well as watching Haibane Renmei for the first time!

1:24:25 - "'Speak to him naturally' - I'm just gonna forget that I read that line"
Worth pointing out that the Japanese here ("Mo sukoshi yuuki furutte shizen ni hanaseba") doesn't specify who is being talked to or use any pronoun. Pronouns in general are more common in English, so one got added in translation.

This is fantastic, K-On’s soundtrack has some real bangers in it so I’m glad you finally got around to listening to it!
As for my favorite song, I’m gonna have to go with the tried and true Fuwa Fuwa Time. It’s a super corny love song, but in the context of the series, it’s the band’s signature song and it’s been featured almost every time there’s an important moment of growth for the band. I would go as far as saying it’s the most important song in their setlist.
    It also rocks hard 🤘

This is an old video, but K-On means a whole lot to me, so I wanted to react to some, well, reacts.
On Cagayake Girls, there is a version with Azusa, and she gets to be a part of the "roll call".
"Don't Say Lazy" lyrics. Fun fact about Mio's weight. In the college manga, she does gains some weight, but it is noticed (I don't remember but probably by Ritsu) that all of it is going to one area. You can take a guess on that.
"No Thank You" is my favorite song. Nothing specific to add, and others have explained the supported theory that the ED's are the girls grown up. Mio has gotten over her anxiety, and is more confident into being the lead. Which is why they sound more like, say, Roselia (who I suggest), than the pop-ish upbeat stuff from Yui.
"Fuwa Fuwa Time" There are multiple versions of this song. One with Mio being lead vocals, one with Yui as lead. Both equally good even though I much prefer Mio singing. Same for "My Love is a Stapler", Yui and Mio versions where they sing different verses.
There are soooo many different versions of "Fuda Pen". Mio singing alone, Yui singing alone, them singing together. And the full version of "YuiAzu"'s performance that you played. Every version equally awesome. This also seemingly is a very newb friendly song to learn the lyrics of. It's still the only song I know all of the lyrics by heart in Japanese.
I learned something new. I didn't know all the stuff behind "Fuyu no Hi". The ship is real.
"Honey Sweet Tea Time", nothing to add, I just adore Mugi singing as well. Same with "Tokimeki Sugar", just love the song.
I have never heard that version of "Rice is a Side Dish". The version I always heard was a full version of the London performance. With Yui's terrible English as a bridge. And the "SKY HIGH" ending. And that version sounds a bit lower than this one.
If you can find the live version of "Tenshi ni Fureta Yo", when Satomi Satou, Ritsu, sings her part, you can hear her break a little. The song, and K-On's ending in general, just does that to everyone, and is a big part of what made it so special.
The album songs and character image songs have so much going for them too. I could suggest Houkago Tea Time (yes they have a song name after their band), "Dear My Keys" and "Guitar Ni Kubittake" are Mugi and Yui singing songs as love letters to their instruments. All of Mugi's songs are great, though I'm a sucker for the keys. "Diary wa Fortissimo" and "Yasei no Jounetsu" being the other two. Mio has "Heart Goes Boom" and "Sweet Bitter Beauty Song", a very different sounding song than most. Azusa has "Over the Starlight" and "Joyful Todays". Fun fact, on one of the versions of the dvd's extras, there are a few songs that actually have a dub version. I love Cristina Vee, and loved hearing her version of Fuwa Fuwa Time.
I know jack about music, but I love HTT, and I loved seeing your reactions. It even brought back some feelings with some of the songs.

It's finally arrived! Life has gotten a lot more busy for me as of late so I haven't had the time to write out long comments anymore but I gotta make an exception for K-ON! I'm not gonna do a track-by-track rundown but I'll just jot down some highlights.
Cagayake Girls is just a classic. Even though I think the magic of K-ON shines the brightest in Season 2, this OP is the essence of K-ON! in my head. I remember you being quite surprised by the opening chords cause it is kind of an edgier riff compared to what you would expect from the opening moments of episode 1. Part of me wonders if that was intentional on the composer's part to throw the audience off before the song shapes into more of the cutesy K-ON! style you'd expect. I love that even back then you picked up on the guitar lines during the verse because those are some of my favorite parts of the song.
Not much to say about Don't Say Lazy. It's just a perfect song. I can't quite articulate why but I feel that Don't Say Lazy pairs so well with Cagayake Girls in a way that the other OP/EDs don't. Those other songs are brilliant as well but something about the contrast between these original songs just really clicks with.
I said that Cagayake Girls was the essence of K-ON! to me but as a song, I adore Go! Go! Maniac. I just love the drums so much I find myself just listening to the isolated drum track on occasion cause it's just that good. The guitar solo is also incredible. I'm a sucker for a guitar solo that feels more like raw screaming and the solo in this song definitely hits that peak by the end.
No Thank You is such a good track, the melody in the chorus is super catchy and I find it playing in my head every now and then. It's criminal that in the actual show you only get to hear a minute and a half of the song as I love the breakdown. It's just such a good comedown from the intensity of the song, giving you a nice break before you go right back into it.
Fuwa Fuwa Time is immaculate. Like Cagayake Girls it just captures the fun of the show. Love that breakdown before the final chorus, it's so out of left field yet it just works, I couldn't imagine the song without it.
My Love is a Stapler. I think I might've mentioned it all the way back in your reaction to the episode it debuted in, but this is probably my favorite K-ON! song ever. Whenever I find myself feeling nostalgic about K-ON this song is always the first thing that comes to mind which is odd cause the lyrics don't really reflect that. But for whatever reason the melody just gives me a kind of nostalgic feeling. I also love the harmonies in this song, I just think they're beautiful. I still have quite a few K-ON songs in my rotation but I find whenever this song in particular comes on I feel an urge to start a rewatch.
Fude Pen is a song that I feel isn't talked about much but I just love its use in the Season 1 finale. It feels like the ultimate culmination of the season. Also the YuiAzu version is very fun and great for us shippers.
Honey Sweet Tea Time is such a great song. I think Season 2's biggest flaw might be setting this song up by having Mugi write and hum it but never actually playing the completed song. I love the middle section. It's so airy and elegant that I think fits Mugi's character so well.
Pure Pure Heart is another one that I think gets overshadowed a lot. It's just such a great song and I love Yoko Hikasa's singing in this song. Especially that high note which just sounds so effortlessness.
U&I is just another perfect song, the lyrics are so mushy but it totally works given the context in the show. Love the dual guitar solo, surprised that isn't utilized in more of the songs but I suppose that's part of what makes it stand out here.
Icchiban Ippai is so good. You perfectly described what makes this song wonderful. It's weird because on paper I feel the grand orchestration this song has is almost antithetical to the vibes of K-ON! but hearing it actually erases all doubts that this combination would feel weird. Also I really love the moment at 3:53:12 when Aki Toyosaki lets out this almost sigh of relief. I feel like this is me reading too far into it but it just feels so in character for someone like Yui to just be so overflowed with happiness and whimsy that she makes a sound like that and I think showcases why she's so endearing.
Singing! is such a rocking track. If Tenshi ni Fureta yo is the swan song of K-ON! then Singing! is the victory lap. It rocks super hard but also feels a bit melancholic since this is the last original thing we see and hear of these characters. Such a good song to bookend the series with.
Tenshi ni Fureta Yo. What is there to say about this song that hasn't been said. The lyrics are so beautiful and all the girls getting to have a part in the song just makes you feel like Azusa. Just hearing these characters say their goodbyes not only to her but to you, the audience. It doesn't get me every time but some days it really hits and it makes me wish that I could experience this series for the first time all over again.
Gosh I tried to not comment on every song but this still ended up being quite lengthy. Although I've become more of a lurker on the channel nowadays I still really love seeing you immersing yourself in what you watch. From making crazy character maps to making 4 hour long videos just absorbing a show's OST, it's so much fun to watch these shows with you and in the case of K-ON, watching you become as enamored with it as I did all those years ago. I can't wait to rewatch the Come With Me concert with you!

Hey mate late reply, but thank you for gifting the long and detailed comment - this house welcomes them!
      - Cagayake Girls will always, always hold a top place in my heart, even amongst the K-On! repertoire. Just because yep, as you remembered, I was in shock lol. Any misgivings I had for starting the show, immediately got thrown out the window.
      - Many breakdowns that can only be caught in the full tracks - agree, a real shame as I don't know how many people go on to then listen to every track in full..
      - I think the thing about My Love Is A Stapler is.. it really sits on the beat much more, compared to the other fast paced songs. And yep absolutely - the harmonies. Also nostalgic for dragging Azusa in.
      - After listening to Honey Sweet Tea Time.. all I can say is mooarrr Mugi sonnggss
      - Ichiban Ippai was probably one of the bigger surprises, given it's contrast in orchestration (strings, my heart). Great pointing out Yui's sigh and the feeling behind it - and also in the movie, I think set to a great shot of Yui singing to the ceiling/sky.
I'm comforted by the fact that there's still quite a bit of K-On! music and the concert to get through.. and then - well. Then comes the re-watch of the entire series at some point. Thanks for stopping by and hope life is treating you well, whatever it is you're busy with!

I was waiting for this my whole life (well maybe not all) I've never imagined you'll take the time to sit and analyze the songs one by one, this is insane, thank you!! I'm so sad UA-cam removed the option to contribute with subtitles.
8:04 I think this is the declaration of intentions for how the music of this show will be: All is performed by the characters, is not Aki Toyosaki singing the OP over a featured popular band, is Yui and Houkago Teatime. All the openings, endings, character albums. The only exceptions are the BGM and Ichiban Ippai. I think never was another show that did that. And made everybody start thinking like this: 31:54
58:22 Here something strange happens, the prevoius song was Season 2 1st OP and this song is Season 2 2nd ending, in the process "Listen!!" and "Utauyo!! Miracle" were missing
Regarding Mio's lyrics I've always tought she is not beign sincere about her feelings, it looks more like she is trying to imagine how must feel to be in love and get inspired by random things in her room (her stuffed animal, her stapler, her pen, the rain, etc.) or even by school subjects as math, biology or pyshics (and music theory itself). I feel she's in love with the concept of love, that's why all the lyrics are about a future lover that she can't reach, of course they resembles Ritsu a lot but at the same time she has a relaxed relationship with her: they know each other well, they care for each other and are comfortable beign around (A more mature Mio maybe will realize love looks more like that than the lyrics she wrote XD)
1:37:32 As someone pointed out already, this is a fanmade version mixing studio track (Yui's version) and "live" track (Mio's version). In the originals both of them sing, but the complete first and second part, not interlocked phrases. The only let-down of this version is that the chorus is mixed so they sing in unison instead of harmonizing like in the originals.
2:04:02 I predict you'll absolutely love Mugi's character songs and their lyrics ("Dear My Keys" and "Diary Wa Fortissimo"). I'm looking forward to it!
I don't know why Ichiban Ippai break the rules by using strings, acoustic guitar and brass but I'm glad they did :) Maybe they wanted the movie intro homage the chosen destination by referencing the Fab Four.
4:28:18 They sing "Yunizon de uta...ou!" (We'll sing in unison) and they do that in unison, no instruments, they're so smart. I mean K-on! songs are not genius but are smarter than they seem to be.
Talking about Genius I recommend the song by the same name that is a B side of "GoGo Maniac" single. If you're going to check the BGM I think "Have some tea", "Hold on your love", "Happy End", "Koneko no Ensou Kai" "Li yumemite ne" "Ano Hi no Yume" and of course "Happy Rainy Day" are a must.
Thank you again for doing this you're like an Angel ;P

aye mate good to see you on this! Yes I do love your point that they put ALL the girls on the OPs and EDs. Like how could it be any other way? Except it really is rare for shows to do that, afaik.
I'm definitely gonna catch up on the OP/ED I missed out on in Part 2. And can't wait for the character songs!
Re: Mio's lyrics, yeah I can see how one would get the feeling that she's in love with the idea of love - and it's fair, given she's still only in high school. She's trying as hard as she can to put herself in the shoes of someone who's madly in love, but hasn't quite grasped the slow and steady love that's more realistic. The only song I would put down as an exception to that is the Mitsu song because I refuse to believe she was writing about an 'idea', but rather a very real person lmao.
Ahh thank you for pointing out the 'we'll sing in unison' line! It makes my heart warm.
Happy you seemed to enjoy this OST ride! til next time

I like to think of the ending songs as sung by a future version of the band when they've made it big, that's why they're all dressed up and they've got these professional looking videos. Some of the lyrics sound like they're singing about how they were in the past, or even singing TO their past selves.

As a general overall comment (and one I've sorta made about music before), you hear so much more than I hear. Probably just because you've played and interacted with music more than I have. Where I hear something that as a whole is pretty or awesome or rockin', you hear the individual parts. That makes it so much fun to watch these breakdowns because every time you stop to highlight an element of the songs, you let me hear it too. :)
Fuwa Fuwa Time is still the most K-On! of all the songs to me. It's funny, I bought the albums and have been listening to most of these songs since we first heard them through the anime, so I forget that you haven't heard things like the rap portion of this song! It was fun to watch you discover it.
I jumped around to my favorites... mainly the Mio "alternate universe" rock songs (Don't Say Lazy, No Thank You!!, Singing). Singing is always one of my favorites visually because it came at the end of the movie and Mio literally tore her way through the movie screen to deliver one last great song. I'm also hitting up the loveliest of the songs, U&I and Tench ni Fureta yo! Had to listen to those again.
Awesome job on all the breakdowns. I'll be revisiting this video a few times to listen to more.

Happy these musical analyses add something to the experience! With k-On! it's been a dragged out affair for me because I've still got more OST tracks and the concert to go, which was exactly the design. Gotta make it last as long as possible!

Fantastic to have you back on the K-ON! reaction train once again, Ravenclaw-senpai...!!!
Hmm, why am I not surprised that your reactions to the K-ON! soundtrack are just as detailed and well-thought-out as your original reactions to the anime itself were....I recently re-watched said reactions in full, and it was a lot of fun seeing you fall in love with SuperMugi and the rest once again, yes...?
(By the way, have you ever considered a career as a music teacher yourself...I can just picture you as the Aussie equivalent of Sawa-Chan what with your ever-impressive grasp of musical jargon and all, yes...?!).
In the meantime, I think my own personal favourites from your list, in no particular order, are the gloriously Beatle-esque 'Ichiban Ippai', the wild 'Go! Go! Maniac', Yui's twin lyrical masterpieces 'Gohan Wa Okazu' and 'U&I', and of course the evergreen 'Fuwa Fuwa Time'...in fact, I recently asked our old friends at Reactions to the Classics to react to the Yui-led version of 'Fuwa Fuwa Time' as part of a pick 'n' mix list of Wild Card songs from different artists, and they certainly seemed to dig it...well, who wouldn't, yes...?!
(If you're interested, you can find their full reaction to it either with the music at vimeo.com/685686729/569eddab0a starting at 58.35 in, or without the music at ua-cam.com/video/N0kR0CkmRjg/v-deo.html starting at 33.35 instead, if you'd prefer to save the experience of hearing the Yui-led version for your own Part 2 vid alongside the likes of Listen!, Utayo!! Miracle and the song Ho-Kago Tea Time...of course, you can feel free to watch the whole vid if you like...I may be biased as its based on my list of tunes, but I think it's pretty entertaining...it's also got two Fab Four tunes in it, after all...!!!).
It says something about both the quality of the K-ON! soundtrack and of your reactions to it that, even after this fulsome four-hour feast of fun, as ever, I'm really looking forward the next K-ON! reaction time, same K-ON! reaction channel, Ravenclaw-senpai...until then, I think I promised to give you a list of recommendations for K-ON! fanfictions to delve into a while back, so here are a few really good ones to get started with below:
    a) www.fanfiction.net/s/10087276/1/The-Cover (my fave Mitsu fic, with a plot revolving around the classic Dire Straits tune 'Romeo and Juliet' as seen at ua-cam.com/video/9ADcFE-si4s/v-deo.html if you haven't heard it...)
    b) www.fanfiction.net/s/7007297/1/Bursting (my fave YuiAzu fic...think of it as a fun alternate take on the Valentine's Day chocolate cake episode, yes...?)
    c) www.fanfiction.net/s/6359702/1/Always (a heart-warming take on a possible future for the K-ON! Girls ten years after the anime finished...)
    d) www.fanfiction.net/s/9797847/1/Soulmates (a short one, but one that shows the dynamic dumb and dumber duo of Yui and Ritsu in full effect, yes...?).
    e) www.fanfiction.net/s/5806989/1/Nice-Girls-Finish-Last (by contrast, a longer story with over 25 chapters if I remember right, but still a heck of a lot of fun with your fav'rit Mugi playing a key role throughout, yes...?)
(I can also highly recommend a number of groovy K-ON! AMVs as well in a future comment if you like, Ravenclaw-senpai; including this one at ua-cam.com/video/kSS1R3nUHsI/v-deo.html which sets K-ON! footage to a cracking song from probably the closest real-life band to HTT interms of overall musical vibe, namely ELO...watching it is what got me sufficiently intrigued to try out K-ON! in the first place, after all, so it seemed like a nice way to end this typically long-winded comment of mine, yes...?!)
    Hwyl for now...!!!

Heeey mate it has been a good while, I hope you've been doing well! Still on this K-On! train with more to come, but had to thank you for the cool links (as always).
As for Part 1 of this music dive - am I surprised I ended up falling more in love with Mugi? Well haha
I did actually teach music for a few years, but have since hung up my shingle. I do still try to keep in touch with my technical music side, and surprisingly a source of that has been analysing anime and now vtuber music, so can't complain!
Looking forward to the next batch of K-On! songs and the concert~~

Highlight for me was Death Devil ,hearing Sawako's VA sang live because there isn't a video of her performing it live anywhere on YT and she is awesome!! I also loves that all of the VA's have their moment to sing on stage. When they performed the school song with Sawako-sensei on the piano, you could see a few of them became emotional. Can't wait for Part 2! Hope you include "Ohayu,Mata Ashita" that song have on repeat in my Spotify playlist.

holy shit mmfkg you actually did it. I knew you love kon (especially mugi) but just didt expect there will be a 4 hrs content.... Anyway no doubt your review and analysis are significant. in my thought Music theory is always a science. I could easily say this sound track is good through preception but just couldnt tell why and I know there should be some logical things can probably prove why it s a good ost. Your explainations are in simple and logical way thats why i thought what you have done is quite meaningful. I played piano when i was a kid but then quit because music theory lesson was a nightmare to me. Its funny now I think it maybe a cool thing haha. Anyway, love your works, keep going.

I did it and maaan so worth it. Really glad you got something out of it!
The great thing about music is the contradiction at its core - the 'scientific'/objective aspect of it, and then the pure subjective enjoyment of it all. Both work in tandem, or sometimes can be in conflict with each other. At the end of the day, different songs will resonate with different people, but there are always some internal, almost mathematical principles that hold true. It's fascinating stuff.

Finally done with my essay and all my other assignments I had (it was a LOT of assignments lol)! Prepare yourself for a massive comment to match you 4 hour long video haha.
For a band that’s not supposed to be that good in canon After School Tea Time’s real life music is actually great, they always manage to sneak into my top artists of the year.
Cagayake Girls: I knew you would love that bridge where they do a roll call!!! It’s my favorite part of the song. After Azusa joins and the op changes there’s also a full version of the song with the five of them and the order of the roll call changes a little to include Azusa, you should totally check that out on your own :)
I love that you reacted to Tsubasa Wa Kudasai!! I love that song so much.
So fun to see your soul ascend when that distorted guitar in Go Go Maniac played lol
Like My Love is a Stapler, there’s a version of Fuwa Fuwa Time where Yui and Mio both sing in turns and it is my absolute favorite. Mio doing the rap part is already super fun but Yui is even better in my opinion.
I’ve got a soft spot for the My Love is a Stapler lyrics, they are so sweet in a way that is not as cringy as Mio’s love lyrics sometimes are lmao
I think for the Fude Pen Ball Pen video, the quality is a bit wonky because it was a fan edit of the two versions of the song with Yui and Mio, I don’t think there’s an official version of them singing together unfortunately. :(
Loved that YuiAzu ship talk, they are so adorable and fit each other so much!
Your Fuyu No Hi headcanons about Mio forcing Yui to sing and Mugi having the time of her life off the side were so funny lmao. It is one of my favorite songs of theirs, not only because of the lyrics, but it just makes me feel, taking inspiration from Fuwa Fuwa Time, all fluffy inside.
You’re not being biased because of Mugi, Honey Sweet Tea Time really does hit different! If you want to see more of Mugi’s voice actress singing, she sings the ed of Bloom Into You with another VA, a show I saw on your to watch list wink wink nudge nudge ;). Agree that in shipping, Mugi makes sense with anyone in the group, especially poly relationships. I am a Mitsu shipper at heart but adding Mugi to the mix would be amazing too!
I really appreciate you highlighting the keyboard during Pure Pure Heart because I feel like the keyboard is what really sets apart After School Tea Time as a band, it elevates their songs and helps them reach that fluffy sound that is so characteristic of them.
Death Devil’s style is not really for me so I haven’t listened to their music much, so it was fun to listen along with you! I especially loved the screaming in the background lol, huge props to Sawako’s VA, she did an amazing job!
Curry Nochi Rice: “friends on a silver spoon… so like gay but in subtext.” The cackle I let out!
If you like the Beatles vibe for Ichiban Ippai there’s another After School Tea Time song that, to me, reminds me of them even more. Also your comment about Reina playing the trumpet in the song lmao. About the hundredth number one thing, I think what they mean is that there’s a number one school, number one tea, number one song, number one dessert etc and they are all number ones in their own right. I think it’s a call to find your favorite things in life, even for the little things. I love your interpretation too!
The cover picture of Singing is serious but I can’t help but think of the hilarious shenanigans it would take for the girls to get to that point like all of them with their hands tied to each other walking to the spot where they have to pose lol
Tenshi ni Fureta Yo still gets me in my feels no matter how many times I listen to it. Maybe because I always visualize the episode when I listen. And what gets me the most about those visuals, curiously, is the part in the bridge where they show other students also saying farewell throughout the school and then Sawa-chan outside of the club room looking melancholic while tapping her foot to the beat. I think it really encapsulates that, while K-on is a story about these 5 girls in a high school band club in Japan, the feelings that they go through are universal.
    Some general comments now:
After all of those Mio love songs I keep thinking that I want to see her reaction to them as an adult lmao I think she’d be so embarrassed and the girls would tease her hard about it.
I love seeing you wave to the beat (or rhythm? Like I’ve mentioned I’m not knowledgeable about music lol) of the songs!
Throughout the whole video, your musical comments were so entertaining, even the ones I didn’t quite understand. You managed to catch a few things that I had never caught before!
A come with me concert reaction would be awesome!
As for suggestions for part 2, Utauyo Miracle and Listen would be cool because they’re the only op/eds that you haven’t listened to in full yet. For other songs, I personally really like Ohayou Mata Ashita, Ichigo Parfait Ga Tomaranai and Hokago Tea Time. As for the OSTs, that’s a tough choice to make. I play them fairly often as background music when I need to focus on something but don’t wanna do it in silence, I honestly would be happy with any you choose!
Whew, I’m done now. Gonna go take a nap, see you on your next Hibike reaction!! :))))

Read this way back and only just now getting to respond, but - super appreciate you getting your thoughts down here!
      - I will definitely check out the version of Cagayake Girls where Azusa's in roll call. I do remember being struck by the tiny but important detail of them adding Azusa's guitar at certain obvious parts too, when she joined the cast.
      - I feel my soul ascended many times in the 4-5 hours it took to record this..
      - Also I'm glad I'm not the only one who suffered cringe attacks from reading Mio-written lyrics (but.. I understand where she's coming from and can't fault her using music to express what she never in a million years would say irl lol). I also agree that adult Mio would be incredibly embarrassed to look back on her high-school self's creative directions.
      - I've all but resolved to watch Bloom Into You after finishing off the current tranche of shows, have heard many good things about it (also, Minako Kotobuki~~~)
      - YES Sawako's VA is a PRO. shock to the system does not even begin to describe it.
      - Yeah with Tenshi no Fureta Yo, the images that sticks out most in my head are the moments leading up to the song, when Azusa's being a tough ass and trying to hold it together, and then afterwards, the way she stood up clapping for the girls. the Sawa outside the door was also a great touch. aaaaa
I'm happy you got something out of the musical analysis side of things, as I tend to get rant-y with all that haha. looking forward to more K-On! music (it never ends)

Cagayake Girls is one of my faves as they have original 4 person vers and a 5 person vers, and both are slightly diff when they call each other's name, esp the part when Mio shouts and RItsu is being RItsu. I could be wrong but the 5 person vers will be in the K-On!! OST instead so you have that to look forward to.
3:17:15 Gohan is basically 'guofan' in Chinese. The way they say gohan means either meal or rice, the same way Chinese say fan or cai for the meal or dish or rice specifically
3:48:30 Ichiban Ippai was the song you hear at the start of the movie.

The music is actually real instrument instead of electronic and its really good for a pop/rock song, they actually used music technique like syncopation, half beat, triple metre, chromatic scales etc and ofcourse my favs prominent bass in the mix. And then later Death Devil who play heavy metal just pop up from nowhere like fuck yeahh lol! thats like two my favs music genre, so kudos whoever produce and mix all of these songs.

They also did that In Concert too(Cagayake Girls). This's my 1st time Listening to the Tsubasa song. Don't say lazy that is also my favorite part of the music. I don't think you're able to tell the difference between 4 nin and 5 nin versions of Lazy. Go Go Concert version get me Hype up, is so good. I always Love the talking Rapping part at the end of Fuwa Fuwa(2:56-3:10Yui Husky version is awesome too ). they always cut that part out from the anime and Concert.(bring back memories of when they cried while singing Fuwa Fuwa in their 1st concert.)I remember I put 2 versions (Mio and Yui together because of how much I love the anime ver(Watashi no koi)(I put it in discord if you want to listen to it) Back then I was 100% Mio's fan. Fuda Pen(Mio) is my #1 K-0n song of all time. IDK this version of Fuda Pen. is so good. YuiAzu version is slow enough for you to sing along to. Honey sweet tea time at 44 reminds me of the time that Mugi ask the clerk low the price of Yui's Guitar. Pure Pure is my #4 k-on song. I remember how much my Heart feel lighter when they played back in episode 7s2. Imaging HTT comes out and makes a Music video of all of the Songs from Anime. that would be some fun to see. I love Death Devil(Maddy Candy is a great song). wish they make a series out of them. Asami normally voiced little kid voice. I was surprised too after I found out that Dejiko VA is playing an adult role in K-0n(same with Yu Asakawa I was surprised to hear her in S2) I don't believe we get to Listen to Curry Rice (full)until the Movie, we hard they talked about it. Despite being a series about a band, K-On didn't have that many music scenes, although every single one of them was a blast. The logistics of producing a music combined with producing an animated series is a double chore, I get that. But imagine how much bigger this anime would have been if it did.

Me at 8:00 : Oh, right- you don't know this part yet huh? Well, I got the reaction I expected lol.
Also, yes, U&I was played at the end of their final concert. But it was the slow ver.
Will be waiting for your reactions for the Live Concerts (there are 2), tho I don't know how you'll upload it. Watching Come With Me! 2011, with a subtitle is a must if you want the full experience because there is a lot of context. Will now join your discord now, watched the full 4hr video in parts.

1:37:31 "It kinda sounds like it was recorded in a garage or something." That's because that's a fake song. They're two different songs (Mio version. and Yui version.) which a fan mixed together.

There's actually a great version of Cagayake Girls with Azusa's solo as well. I don't actually have this version in full, but someone uploaded the individual stems of it on youtube. I also covered it. Azusa's part is awesome and integrated really well!

The "reality is a bitch" line uses the word/phrase "zettaizetsumei" which seems to mean something like being cornered and not being able to escape (the literal meaning being something like "absolute death"). The translation isn't too bad but I do think it could be better. The translations on a wiki are also different from those in the subtitles for the show. In Fuwa Fuwa Time too I don't think Mio specifies the person she's talking about as male (at least in the line you picked up on), so that might make you feel better. It's probably just the translator assuming the subject since it's harder to not have a subject in English than in Japanese. It's also pretty common for VAs to be able to sing well too. I don't think there's usually anything to the level of K-ON with its live concerts and stuff but most anime usually get character songs, where the VAs sing songs that relate to the characters (and singing the OP and ED). K-ON being about music just convinced Kyoani to do a lot more.
As for recs for a second video, definitely include the third opening. You basically reacted to every song from the first and second album releases so character songs may be what to focus on next. If I had to pick a few I'd say Heart Goes Boom, Hello Little Girl, Girly Storm Shissou Stick, Mezase Happy 100%, Junjou Bomber, and Midnight Superstar. Those are only from Ritsu, Mio, and Jun though. Probably want to listen to at least one image song per character and maybe listen to all of Jun's, Ui's, and Nodoka's since they weren't included in any of the songs you listened to in this video. there's also several versions of Let's Go and Come With Me.

For me, zetsumei would be a similar word to zetsubou (despair). For zetsumei it has a similar meaning which I would translate to 'doom' as it sounds more of a 'state of' despair in a noun form of 'doom'.

If for part 2 you get to Jun Suzuki/Yoriko Nagata's Midnight SUPERSTAR☆☆☆, there's some semi important context I feel you should probably know about that's a bit baffling. It isn't what the song is about, but something mentioned in the song.
For one part of the song Jun refers to herself as an Aries. However, nobody knows what her actual birthday is despite all the other main characters getting theirs revealed. Shouko Ohmori didn't make it up either, as they did see Jun was an Aries in her character profile. Jun's character profile was never publicly released though, making her the only 1 out of the 9 to not get despite it existing somewhere at KyoAni. In the manga it's revealed her birth flower is a Renge, which narrowed down the dates to 22nd March, 8th April, 13th April and 18th April. But that's where it's been for about a decade now with Shouko Ohmori thinking it could be the 8th April, but isn't fully confident.

    • @ravenclawreacts
      @ravenclawreacts  2 роки тому

With how people still celebrate every character's bday, the mystery surrounding Jun's is intriguing. Or, people can just celebrate one very one of those days lol
