Change the audio type in LMU from Broadcast to Immersive, this way you'll have dynamic audio according to your camera position.

      Very useful, thank you!
I just checked and indeed I have it set as broadcast.
Edit: in immersive mode the dynamic/directional audio is indeed fixed! You learn something every day - thank you :)

Remember AMS2 has a variety of content that expand way beyond what LMU has to offer and will ever have, just for reference there is almost as many Spa version (not just layout, but different version) than there is total tracks in LMU. Let's not talk about cars... So of course you would hope that LMU has a better version of that car and the hybrid system. LMU better from a pure "sim" perpesctive, AMS2 way better from a "game" aspect.

Thank you for watching and for sharing your opinion! Yes, I agree AMS2 has a lot going for it, especially on the content (modern and historical)
Your last sentence "LMU better from a pure "sim" perpesctive, AMS2 way better from a "game" aspect." sums it up very nicely indeed :)

At the end of the day I think both are really fun in their own ways and with the low fuel motorsports and LMU dailies I have a happy range of multiplayer options which is nice

ams2 is as much a sim as lmu. like they said, ams2 can be forgiven for it's limited score in one aspect, makimg up for it in other aspects - like historical content.
both are games. borh are sims. one concentrates on simming one thing, the other, something else

there both sims and both fun games, its just masters one motorsport and the other does a decent job with many. I personally prefer a excellent experience with one motorsport rather than a decent experience with 20, but that's just me. The one exception is iracing which manages to have great quality for many different motorsports and has the best multiplayer model. But i would rather play LMU over AMS2 in the same way i would prefer ACC over GT7 or raceroom

Thank you for the insight mate. Maybe I was wrong on this one, but this is how I tested it:
So MAX deployment and NO deployment. Kept it in 2nd gear so the speed is consistent and was braking from redline (i think 145km/h if memory serves me right). Default setup and honestly, I felt absolutely no difference between Max deploy and No deploy.
Again, maybe I was testing it wrong and happy to explore it further but I felt no difference.
I tested on both cold and warm tyres and in both cases was locking at the same time.
I also never felt the BB shifting to the rear.
I checked the 1.6 development update on Reiza's forum and the only thing I found was: "Added brake by wire simulation (combines mechanical brakes and regen torque while respecting your intended brake bias setting - no other controls as of now)"
Now, maybe this is simulated on paper but I never felt the difference while driving :)

Nice to see a good in-depth comparison between the cars in the two sims. I have to say I really enjoy the driving experience in both, and both games provide a really good representation of these cars and their quite complex characteristics. I think LMU as a more focused title does represent this and the other LMH/GTP cars more completely than AMS2, but that is to be expected when the game is tailored to just a few types of car. AMS2 is doing a lot of complex stuff in the background still, and their implementation of the hybrid system is really good, far better than iRacing is doing as we've seen. LMU again is more complete in this regard, but AMS2's options are perhaps more user-friendly, so us mortals don't have to become race engineers alongside drivers.
One thing I like about LMU is the onboard sound does seem to represent well the sound characteristics you might expect actually being sat in the car. There's some boxy reverb and other effects that seem to make the core audio sound really immersive there.
That their take on these cars is so close to LMU's is a real testament to the good work Reiza have done though!

Great video, I love both games. About the differences on how fast the tires heat up, Coach Dave Academy released an LMU video today about the GT3 cars (so don't know if the same would apply to the LMDh's)... he says that the tires in LMU should come up to temperature a bit quicker in his opinion, but he does praise the general cold tire behaviour as being realistic. He has real life experience on the car he was driving on the sim so it was an interesting video. Despite the differences I find the the LMDh's to be believable and engaging to drive in both sims.

Very interesting video and the triple screen immersion is just amazing.
What comes to the LMDh simulations, I really don't put much into how the hybrid part is implemented. I mean it's good that AMS2 got rid of the boost mechanism but managin your fuel consumption is really not relevant for me a driver whose longest races are like 3hrs.
It really is a pity you didn't compare the driving itself much, because that is the part that interests me. I still feel like AMS2 is too forgiving and allows unrealistic levels of slip angle, while LMU for mee feels a bit numb especially when turning. If Kunos ever decide to venture into the LMDh realm, that is when I will probably start driving them more. Until that happens, they are more or less just a curiosity to me.

If you want an AMS2 full replay that's not a race, do this. Let your car sit perfectly still on track until the timer runs out. You will then get a menu that allows you to watch the replay. You can save it then. The other way is to drive down the pit lane the wrong way. You will be D'Qd. The replay menu will come up and you can watch and save then. This same hack works in PC2. They should really fix this in AMS2. Practice replays help improve your driving.

    • @SimracingGG

LMU’s problem is that they build a game simply based on one racing series. That’s why it will always be limited and the least dominant. Why not build a sim on multiple racing series?? (hint hint iRacing). The problem with AMS2 is that it’s far from realistic but it’s still amazing and fun for a way cheaper price. Ultimately iRacing will continue to be king. At the end of the day all 3 of these sims are far from perfect so pick the one that you prefer.

I will join many commentators - it is very nicely put together review.
However, handling / realism characteristics were replaced with "sorry I had to drive 4th lap". What separate simulator from sim-cade is not a sound in TV view, temp curve that can be fixed fast or even laptime (weight, power, distance - not a difficult formula for a drag or lap calculation). It is all about slip angles. Or, if you forget about "telemetry", the way one can drive fast or on limit in both games. ASM2 is a fantastic simcade. LMU - is up there with iRenting and AssettoCustomizatione, Let's hope this reRefactor2 will be followed by rF3.
