The ERS system doesnt work like it does in F1, it doesnt give anymore and thus increases speed, but i takes some of the energy the engine produces and uses the electro motor to fill the gap. it isnt used for overtaking but for fuelsaving during the races. The NRG is a system for the BOP in the WEC field. It makes it so that every car has to pit at the same time and some manufacturers dont create fuel systems that are much more fuel efficient then others
I've found that adjusting the roll bar is really helpful, if you feel the rear is a bit too loose then soften the rear anti-roll bar and stiffen the front anti-roll bar. I use it quite often throughout a long race because of the changing conditions, especially as the rear tires loose their grip i can make the car more understeery to combat the change.
No wonder you found it tricky when you approached it from the most tricky angle - the hypercars. They're the most complex and most demanding cars in the game. Iracing does not allow you to drive such difficult cars until you grind up your license. And neither does LMU when you race online. In fact, the Bronze license online races are only GT and LMP2, and all fixed setups, so you're mostly concerned with simply driving better than the others. This is accessible. The single player component is not fleshed out yet though and you're open to use whatever car you want, including making the mistake of jumping right into the hypercar despite not being ready for it.
LMU takes the hardcore simulation of WEC to the max and understanding the physics, NRG simulation and ERS functioning for Efficiency rather than Power (as it was in the LMP1 days). For new drivers I can not recommend enough the Guide Alex Kay made. He’s one heck of a driver and he’s fairly fast in this game. His series of 8-9 videos explain all the hardcore aspects of the game.
I guess you were driving with the default setups? If so, they are really bad, thats why you lost the back pf the car alot. Also the 499p has a worse back end compared to other cars. Love that you loved the sim. I also really like it. It is also the only one i play so.... nice vid!
Yea completely fair, maybe I should have given room, but there's no way a driver in real life would give room there. Also, if the AI was a real life driver, there's no way they're crank the lock on and turn into me like they did, they'd be forced to back off, then swear at me over the radio and call for a penalty
AI Has no artificial advancements top drivers are just about able to match 105 AI. The AI is very aggressive so theres alot of give and take youll often have to give it. and youll find so much time in just driving, its a completely different style to IRacing. it wants you to be really aggressive and drive with very soft hands to catch slides as thats what it intends to do. LMU is by no means perfect but is the best simulation of any WEC cars
Lmu is more realistic than iracing and the hypercars are more difficult to drive irl too, that might be why you like iracing more because the GTP's in iracing are easier to drive
Hey just some things about the virtual energy tank and stuff like that it’s like a second tank if it ends u can still go if u have actual fuel but you will get a stop and go penalty for it running out, and the blue line next to it is like ears if it gets full than it will not help u in the braking zones and u will probably lock up everything so if u put the regen to 200 and usage at 90 it will save over some laps and before it gets full or empty adjust it so it’s never full or empty, if the rear end is too loose u can move the anti roll bar in the max same goes for the regen level it’s on the second last page towards the bottom of it there will be the regen level and usage of the “ers” and a little bit above it there will be the anti roll bar, there is also braking bias in between them hope this helps
sadly it's not a setup but a character of the sim. ppl used to say gte's and hypers are limited by the rear but lmgt3 are now the same. low speed corners are no good
your hybrid is filling up which is causing some of the moments under braking. the LMH cars regen on the front wheels so when the batteries fill up they stop charging which takes away brake performance at the front which then causes rear locking. Also I find the Lemans default setups a bit much compared to the other tracks
Set the ai aggression to medium and lower the ARB setting on the back and stiffen the rear rebound damper en reduce the positive rear toe angle, and for God’s sake, lower your ai difficult setting. That’s what you get when you reduce Endurance cars to sprint cars and cold tyres are a thing here
I'm going to give this a try but I will have to focus on the lmp2 because the hypercars are way too complicated. Don't get me wrong. I'm glad they are unlike iracing just not for me.
Try lowering the AI difficulty, when you are more or less in the same ball park you will have good racing. When the speed differential is too far apart you will run into these issues.
Have over 100 hours in it and have not driven the hyper cars yet, the entry level is the GT3 cars and that’s where you start. The LMP2 default setups are fine once you learn how to drive them. What you have done here is pointless, tried two quick races in the wrong cars and complain it’s too hard and the setups are wrong. I do agree that iracing is a lot easier to drive, again though you would not get iracing and then jump in a hyper car, you would be in the rookies learning the handling of the sim in a Mazda mx5. 😂
I know what you mean, but this is a game that people play for fun. I don't like driving GT cars very much, I like prototype / downforce cars, so that's what I want to drive. This isn't a game that should get 'harder' the further in you get, it should just be realistic and asking for better default setups is perfectly reasonable As a regular sim racer, I shouldn't have to 'start at the bottom' in every new game I try - I know how to drive a prototype car well enough in other games
@@AlexGillonGaming This is a hardcore sim and it is indeed not for everyone, like you. Your driving looked a bit erratic and I believe that you weren't able to test this racing sim title in a objective way. You laid all your eggs on iRacing as I did months ago, but was dissapointed in most of the tyre dynamics which are unrealistic. Also the graphic look washed out and out of this time The strenght of Iracing lies not in simulating the LMP's or WEC cars. They also sound horrible in iRacing and are too easy controllable especially the LMP2's. Don't forget that iRacing is an online service first, that is why you pay contribution and not for creations of car simulations. Assetto Corsa and LMU are for me the titles for real simracing and not "fun" gaming! That people play this for fun is more your perception and irritates me a bit. I play this sim for the driving experience, immersion, learning to configure a race car and after that maybe for fun, like many many of us. They are not competing with Forza or Grand Turismo, or do they. I know iRacing is not going anywhere, but I believe that there is a big community that, appreciate sim titles for racing nerds. I won't ever play WEC cars on iRacing and race only Mazda cups or ovals what is their main core business IMO.
@@ericburger9334i both agree and disagree a little bit. I love LMU and it’s my main sim right now. But, I think that the ”fun” part plays a bigger role. At the end of the day it needs to be fun or we wouldn’t be playing much, and it needs an active good online community, because very few people want to hotlap alone on a track or vs AI. But, I agree with you that this is very much for racing nerds that want to understand the car, tyres and setup. At the end of the day for us that is the fun part. Plus the racing is awesome.
@@AlexGillonGamingwell, I’m sorry, but you don’t seem to know how to drive prototypes well enough. The implementation of prototypes here is accurate and true to real life, as is the tyre model. If you compare it to iRacing it’s not even close to the same level. What I noticed is that getting faster in LMU has made me a better driver in iRacing and IRL but never the other way around.
yeah after spending 1500 dollars on iracing is tough to accept the truth that there are better sims for like 95% less. The only thing that makes iracing great is the online competition and how seriously the community that play it take things. The netcode in iracing is trash, the forcefeedback is boring and a lot of cars like the 499p that came out recently are just fanta cars that they sell as simulation.
doesn't sound as good as iracing? ahhahahahaha ohhh boy xD It's clean to me that you've spend way too much money on that 15yo title xD LMU is a game changer wait for the final relese.
it have still some issue but minor but for new its pretty good you talk the sound is not so good as iracing do you ever bin in a real race car i thit and the sound in lmu is spot on iracing is poor
LMU is my favourite sim atm
Same here! And I love the online champions. Same car, and feels like you’re fighting for something + longer races. It’s awesome right now
