In the early days of movieland, Los Angeles was full of real-life cowboys, and the cowpokes looked to earn cash by being extras in the Hollywood Westerns being made. The corner of Sunset and Gower was the perfect place for these cow punches to hang out due to its proximity to the movie studios.
