    Hi Randy,
Thank you for replying back with some good advice, I managed to open the machine and give it a good clean inside. I reckon I've probably oiled about 4 of the wicks inside, I couldn't remove the front cover as none of my screwdrivers were long enough to unscrew one of the screws inside. Also a good point would be to take care when removing the front cover as the cables behind all have connectors for front buttons, display etc as these need to be disconnected I noticed.
You were right some of the oil wicks in the base of the machine were almost dry, Looking forward to when you release a video for basic servicing for this sewing machine.
    Thanks,
    Carl

Thanks Randy. I own one and love it overall. My one aggravation is the bobbin. As it nears the end, it must grab the tail and causes the machine to stop. It's a pain trying to get to the thread under the quilt and snip it, plus I worry that it will eventually cause serious damage. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Randy. Thank you for your review. I have loved my MC 6600 for 14 years! But for the last 3 years or so it makes quite a loud noise when sewing. It’s intermittent, seems to come from the bobbin area, and I have tried Everything to determine the cause. Wondering if you hand any suggestions? I really don’t want to give up beloved machine. She was just serviced by my local guy I trust and unfortunately it never happens for the brief time it’s with him.
    Help please!

You’re welcome, and that noise is usually associated with a thread snag or thread delivery issue.
If you sew at a faster speed, it seems to be more likely to occur.
It’s a problem with almost all drop in, top load machines that have the non metal bobbin case. 😎👍🏼

@@randyyoursewingmachineman9954 any tips on fixing it? I even upgraded to a better thread. And when I first had the problem a new bobbin case.

@@kathygannonOBWQF you can polish the outside circumference of the bobbin case with crocus cloth to ensure that there are no snags or manufacturing imperfections.
I have a video on that issue.
      It’s quite common.
Your thread delivery system can often be a cause as well.
I have a video addressing that also.

@@randyyoursewingmachineman9954 well, I have been sewing with a new clear foot the tech gave me to try. No problems so far. Also keeping speed down a bit. Time will tell. Don’t think it’s my bobbin case as the tech just checked my machine out for me, especially that area as I was complaining about it. Will keep you updated, if I remember.

    Hi Randy,
Would you be able to do a video on how to check and oil this machine, I've just acquired one and it seems a very robust machine. Thanks

I’ll be glad to. In the meanwhile, anything that hinges, rotates, or slides in a bearing gets a drop of oil. Look for the oiling felts at the ends of main shafts and make sure they are saturated. Keep the oil away from motors and electronics. Stay tuned.

Hi Randy, thank you for the review! My machine works great except for the bobbin holder slipping and then needing to be replaced. I’ve replaced it three times. Is this a common problem with this machine or is it user error? Thank you for your time!

The bobbin case will jump out if the thread gap is too large, if the machine is mis-threaded, or the thread is oversized. The bobbin case can be smother out and reused. If you’re on your fourth bobbin case, that’s an unusual occurrence with this machine for sure.

      Smoothed out. Not smother. LOL

I bought it used at a sewing shop years ago, I’m a little concerned that this is the reason it was for sale. I’ve taken it to be professionally repaired once but it keeps happening. Maybe it’s time for a new machine.

Also watching your thread gap video, and double checking thread size.

Hi!! I can not do big enough embroidery on this machine. I know it is not an embroidery but the stiches withed are really small. 😮

I don’t know how to reply to your statement.
Maybe: it is what it is.
Which was originated by Popeye when he exclaimed:
      “I yam what I yam “.
Kinda the same thing, sorta, I guess.

If you’re trying to do a wide appliqué stitch, I guess the max width might not be sufficient.
There are machines that have a super wide zig zag for such applications. They’re mostly newer electronic machines.
