I wish he and Wes played together
That would've been amazing
Wes will always be Limp Bizkit's guitarist but we appreciate what Mike did when Wes left for a while. But, I'm still hoping that one day Mike would come back and play alongside Wes and the whole Bizkit crew
Yes! A duo would be awesome!!
Most definitely. I want to see Limp Bizkit live with two guitarists.
Wes will never allow that
Mike did a lovely job, he is precision. But Wes is random, he is the soul for Limp Bizkit.
Just because Wes was in LB since the first few years of LB does not mean that Wes is LB. Mike Smith did a magnificent job and he should come back because Wes does not have as much skill as Mike. Thanks for watching!
correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know, most of the Results May Vary stuff was written by Sam, Fred and Head from Korn. Head's influence can be heard clearly in Shot and Crack Addict.
@@mod3rnwarrior34 just because Mike is more technical than Wes, doesn't mean he is better
@@Marchpip Mike Smith wrote seven of the tracks on the album (7/15). Okay, that's not even half of the songs on the album, but I think that is enough to prove that Mike wrote a lot of the songs on the album. I'm also looking at the writing credits now and I only see Head credited with one track (Build a Bridge).
@@mod3rnwarrior34 😆
Mike Smith did a good job, but Wes Borland is on another level. Wes is THE sound of Limp Bizkit.
Exactly
Exactly!
what are you talking about? have you listened to Suffocation?
Technically - definitely Mike. Musically - Wes.
Wes definitely is a unique guitarist with a unique sound and some crazy riffs, but my favourite overall Bizkit album for the diversity in the song writing is Results May Vary and I love almost everything Limp Bizkit
Depends on how you look at them. Technically Mike is a better player (based on this video alone). Wes, on the other hand is on a whole different level if you judge creativity. The dude is a fidgety, dark and unpredictable genius. But if you listen to solo on Gold Cobra the guy is more than capable to play one but he just doesn't want to because lightspeed shredding is not Limp Bizkit thing. They are more groove and riff oriented...
Mike smith play a good solo in underneath the gun, but when I Heard Shotgun’s guitar solo I say damn Then Wes is very able to play a guitar solo but he don’t want cause is not his nature
Giulio Strammiello don't forget Walking Away solo ;)
Yeah right, only Wes is in the list of top guitarists EVER.
Mike smith good job. I like you.
Don’t know why they couldn’t have kept Mike after Wes came back, it would be interesting for them to have two guitarists.
Mind blowing.
Probably. But Mike was out way before Wes came back. And seeing the band themselves stated how Mike was kinda out of place with them, I don't think he would ever want to be in the line up along with Wes. Also to me Wes seems like a one man guitar kind of guy.
They tried 2 guitarists before lethal joined and Wes said it wasn’t the way forward
I love mike smiths live energy with all the neck breaking headbanging like in the finsbury park 2003 concert (full nelson as a good example). captures the aggressiveness of the songs so well and maybe also pushed fred durst to go extra hard.
Yes!! I really do think Mike brought a whole new fresh energy to Limp Bizkit for the time he had with them. The whole band sounded extremely tight and also was more presentable and just a better band overall! Thanks for the comment!! -MW
Imagine Wes and Mike playing Sanitarium with Mike doing the solo instead of the deck. Would be a f*ck*ng killer!
i honestly wish they did like a duel guitar sort of thing, i love eat you alive and thats cause mikes smith guitar
That would be really awesome! Thanks for watching!!
Wes - way more unique.
Impossible to call really. Wes Borland is super original with playing style & looks. Big shoes for Mike to fill but he's a total unit on the guitar as well. Hard to jump into a role & make it your own but have to hand it to him for keeping the band going. Die hard fans will never be happy either way! I'm a bassist & just want to jam with the drummer anyway hahaha would be more than happy happy to play with either.
I dont care about the riffs the songs the stage presence who wrote the songs etc....but when i close my eyes i just favour mikes sound especially live
I agreee!
Both of them are awesome, each other have their own skill,
I'M TEAM MIKE! More sophisticated, & higher class. Right Guitarist - Wrong Band for Mike to showcase HIS Art in. Can imagine was hard on Mike to attempt to maintain level of artificially manufactured "rage" & energy drain that is associated with this bands somewhat abrasive personalities & persona. Has moved on to higher caliber circle of Legendary Musicians who are able to better allow him to display his special musical contribution's more cleanly. Along with Tino Gross, Johnny "Bee" Badanjek has always had the power of "Super Vision". Can't recall any time in past 50+ years where he has errored in detecting the Diamonds from the cubic zirconia's. Right again, Guys! Rock On, Mikey!
Wes.
Both were cool as fuck!!! Both very similar IMO, mike slammed that Borland style and done really well! But Borland will always be in my top 3 favourite guitarists!
Wes hands down. Mike is nice...
But wes has the stage presence!
mike for sure
I think both were great and its a shame we didnt get both on stage at the same time.
Borland by a landslide. Not only a much better player but also the original one too.
Sort of that argument for Hillel Slovak and
John Frusciante for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Slovak was talented a much more free spirit character that was early RCP, when Frusciante joined he brought it in a more technical serious approach.
Wes is legendary, Mike is so good too, but wes is wes
wes borlAND FOR SURE
Wes Borland is a real limp bizkit
I'm just here cause it's 2018 and you're talking about Limp Bizkit. Fuckin right.
Mike smith is a bad ass mofo..
Much cleaner and precise than Wes....but Wes just has that sound that makes him more unique.
Yes Mike is a great guitarist. Wes creates great riffs but does not reproduce the same iconic sound live, for me personally, “Livin’ It Up” is ok but it is definitely not their best song. Thanks for watching!
Wes & Mike both are better...Mike did wonderful in Wes absence...But Wes is always the identity of LB
Mike Smith is a really good guitarist, and I love Snot. Wes Borland though is THE guitarist for Limp Bizkit though. He cannot be replaced.
Goofy bizkit= Wes Borland
Serious bizkit= Mike Smith
Exactly my thinking! -MW
Mike Smith is a Essex-Middleriver Baltimore Maryland homboy that made it to the Big Show and was great
That dude who replaced RCHP guitarist didn't effect anything for me but you can't replace Wes Borland.
if mike smith was the first guitarist of limp bizkit no one would like to like it with wes, mike is the best.
Agreed!!
If mike was the first guitarist there would be no limp bizkit
@@Marcian89 It would only lack the guitarist's costumes, there would be talent to spare. It would be Limp Bizkit with a guitarist who only needs his hands to stand out.
Mike smith is better
W E S
With all due respect to Mike Smith, Wes Board IS Limp Bizkit.
Wes borland he engine of limp bizkit
wes borland icon from limb bizkit
Wes is the original but mike is a Baltimore boy who most of us in middle river and Essex Maryland all new and are glad to see him get the chance to say fucking A I played with the big boys so back then I would of chosen mike hands down!!!
Good❤
Wes is way better.
It is always wes.
Wes always
The one and only Wes Borland
Immanuel Aditya
That’s the physics principal not an protocol dude.
MIKE IS A BEAST but it not limp bizkit style he needed to be in another band that suited him better
Come check out his new band Shedding Light (previously known as Evolver)! -MW
Mike Smith needs more credit. Hell of a guitarist put in an awkward position
He actually was in a Britney Spears video called “I Love Rock n’ Roll” and in Staind’s video for “Outside”! I was pleased to find out that he got such major roles in these videos! But, he still was put in an uncomfortable place in Limp Bizkit because most people wanted Wes back, which was very unfair for Mike.
@@mod3rnwarrior34 as a kid we watched Mike and his brother sit on the greenbox in our neighborhood and jam out, he's our Rocky.
Wow! That’s very cool!
we miss mike..
Yes!!
TWO DIFFERENT STYLES OF PLAY
What’s the name of the song in the last part of the video?
The song is called “Crack Addict” by Limp Bizkit. Thanks for watching!
Modern Warrior thanks! 😁
wes
When Mike Smith was in the band when they would play Rearranged it would just be Sam's bass & the verses to Counterfeit (Wes is doing hammer ons with his left hand & flicking the tone selector switch with his right) we're also not played. Wes's tapping isn't easy. Also Brian Head Welch wrote the riff to Crack Addict
WEST!!! The Sounds of limbizkit but RESPECT!!!! To MIKE!!
Wes 👍
WES forever!!
But respect to Mike!!
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Wes of course, no doubt about that.
1:25 Name song in the end video?
Crack Addict by Limp Bizkit. Off their Results May Vary B-Sides album.
@@mod3rnwarrior34thx bro
he done a good job
same like josh klinghoffer replace john frusiante at RHCP.
1:25 what song is this?
Crack addict is the name of the song fyi 🙂
Woops I must’ve responded to the wrong comment by accident. Yeah, this song is Crack Addict - Limp Bizkit.
One word WES!!!!
Wez 100% his irreplaceable
Compare wes borland vs mike smith on limp bizkit is like compare federer vs lebron James playing tenis.
What song at 00:03 ?
“Let Me Down” by Limp Bizkit. I really like this song, it is off of their Results May Vary album. Thanks for watching!!!
Wes is God
Wes Borland all day..
Mike had to play what he was told to play. Wes played what he wanted.
Certainly were many songs that Mike created that were stripped from RMV. Mike is very talented, it is a shame how he was treated at times when he was in Limp Bizkit.
@mod3rnwarrior34 I prefer to listen to Mike play. He plays exactly like the album. I love his energy and enthusiasm. I was lucky enough to aee him play in Baltimore. (Non LB)
Wow! I’m guessing one of his shows with Evolver back in 2011-ish?
Yes!! 2011ish...ish can't remember the club...big brown wood building??..but had a great time !!
@@hobbsheather8057 Wow! Thats amazing! If he decides to drop the new Shedding light album soon I would certainly have to go to one of their shows if they were to tour!
Sorry for my English.
In all your video comparisons you put not the best performances of Wes. You're a fan of Mike obviously, but what interesting songs did he create? Wes make a simple but so cool riff like pollution, faith, nookie, the cool use of tremolo bar in hot dog and my generation, the tapping in sour, stalemate, boiler. Etc. Results May Vary is a good and underrated album but nothing else, it's not comparable to the first three LB album. I'm not a professional guitarist but I think the guitar part of Mike is more easy to play. Other Wes songs are also easy to play (like break stuff) but not all.
Few remember RMV songs. Many remember songs played by Wes.
And about live performance depends also from audio record, acoustic situation, tuned guitar (I think sometimes Wes play out of tune) etc. If you see the old limp bizkit concert Wes sounded good.
wes is original sound of Limp Bizkit
A[ ]’d + B[ ]’d = --> Wes Borland.
Mike is a modern day Josh hired temp ..
Mike!
Wes
wes riff was unbeatable..
mike is far way much better in guiter skills , but its not about skills, its all about ideas, so wes is better.
Hawk man
But I found intro song of this clip brilliant.
Wes has skills and ideas
Please give me name ending music thc
The song is “Crack Addict” by Limp Bizkit.
It is off of their Results May Vary B-Side album. I really like this album along with the regular RMV too. Thanks for watching!!!
wes borland .....
if mike be a first guitar player for limpbizkit I don't think people know limp bizkit as today..wes Borland are bone for limpbizkit.
I think that if LB started out with mike that they would still be just as big because Mike has unique talent and solid guitar tone. The style would be likely a little different, but not in a bad way. Thanks for watching!!!
Mike Smith made Limp Bizkit sound like a seriously awesome
band and his tone was the warmest , meanest , Mike Smith was the best thing to happen to Limp Bizkit . Big mistake letting him go .Listen to Result my vary that is the best Bizkit sounding
album thanks to Mike's mean
heavy guitar tone . Mike Smith Rules
Absolutely!!
But most of the songs on results may vary weren’t Mike’s work though.. Elvis wrote most of the guitar parts for results may vary
were is shotgun and walking away solo ?
I could not fit in more than two songs into one vid and make it short. I always stride to make my vids short so the viewers can watch the whole video. Thanks for watching!
Wes is Unique
Thank you for watching! I just posted a new video if you want to check it out! Thanks!!!
Me.
Lol! Thanks for watching!!
Mike soubd better
What was the first song
“Underneath the Gun” by Limp Bizkit. It is off of their Results May Vary album from 2003. Results May Vary is one of LBs best albums in my opinion! Thanks for watching!
Let me down
really?
No comparison. There’s only one Unicorn.
sorry guys...Mike who?
Wes is a nex level 🤘🤘
I’m confused I’ve never heard of Mike Smith 🤷🏻♀️
He was the guitarist for Limp Bizkit from 2002-2004.
Modern Warrior I must’ve missed that did he move on to become famous in another band after Limp Bizkit ?
He moved on to a band called Evolver (now called Shedding Light), thay are extremely popular, but they have a new album that should be coming out soon and it has been getting some attention on Facebook recently so we will have to see how it goes from there.
Modern Warrior Are they signed never mind I’ll Google it
I contacted Mike Smith himself and he said that he appreciated my videos that I posted on UA-cam.
Sorry Wes, I like you but Mike is more quality guitarist. He didn’t do a lot of mistake on a concert like Wes.
I agree brother!
I agree too
Sure but u can t say that mike is better both guitarists has a other sound. Every guitarist has a another style. For this band wes is the one and only cause mike can t replace this sound. The sound of wes is the point qhere u can say that is limp bizkit before fred is singing. Nobody can copy or replace this. And that is for every band and you can t say that one of them is better.. cause both play very different styles it is like you make a vs between metal and jazz...
@@captainmodz455 You are right, of course. Bud we have one think it’s that Mike is not killed bizkit’s style but continued, updated and improved a little. I think it’s give more points to Mike. IMHO, sorry. And maybe “Gold Cobra” would be more melodic. I was in their concert and it was amazing but I don’t understand why they don’t play songs from Results may vary?
@@romantolchinsky9923 idk but i think both would be great together.. wes is one of the guitar players who are a examble for me cause of his style he plays not much but it sounds like this every guitar player can play solos thats not interesting but wes plays with the delay and thats like lemmy from motorhead with his bass. I like people who are not follow the mainstream and everybody can say bad things that he doesn t play clean and more but if i could do what he can do then i would be happy
Lars ullrich from metallica is failing every gig much bands have mistakes but they know how to fix this moment that ppl don t get it.
Wes isnt playing a guitar solo......
Wes Borland is the real limpbizkit
for all you who didnt know,
wes gives a tutorial to mike smith
when he leave the band.👌
so theyre both amazing.
Not true at all Wes left on bad terms originally and the only member he kept contact with was Sam.
🤦🏻♂️
Guitar players from this era sucked specially Wes
jaja q video mas tendencioso jaja Sin dudas WES le gana por muchisimo, no hay comparación.
No comparison? Wes just turns on delay and taps a slur of random notes that don’t sound good together. Mike, on the other hand, makes his guitar whistle like a bird, Mike’s solo is much better than Wes’s due to his skill that Wes unfortunately does not have.
lo tuyo es realmente tendencioso, los videos q elegiste entre uno y el otro lo demuestran jaja
It is ok to have your own opinion, I just am showing that Mike Smith is better than Wes Borland in a live setting in my opinion. Have a nice day Nahuel.
I don’t get all the hype about Wes Borland. He’s got a decent sound I guess but he never does true “solos”. Only strange little repetitive riffs and power chords.
Overrated
Neither of them can solo.
Nu metal definitely isn’t for the metal heads of the 80s 😂 but was pretty cool never the less to see some solos from Mike Smith on Results May Vary from 2003. Thanks for watching! -MW
