NAIL THE MIX is an online mixing school created by Joey Sturgis, Joel Wanasek and Eyal Levi - the guys who produced bands like TDWP, Chelsea Grin, Blessthefall, Machine Head, Monuments, Miss May I, Of Mice & Men, Reflections, Born Of Osiris, Asking Alexandria and dozens more of this generation's best metal bands.
Every month, NAIL THE MIX members get exclusive access to the REAL MULTI-TRACK SESSIONS from a REAL ALBUM, and a 6-8 hour live streaming class from the producer who mixed it. These are the actual sessions by bands like Gojira, Meshuggah, Periphery, Papa Roach, Machine Head, Bring Me The Horizon, A Day To Remember and more - and NTM is the only place in the world you'll get access to them!
Buster is a monster mixer. Love this video!
Wow, this is the EXACT sound I've been chasing for a few months now. All of these latest metal albums coming out have such heavy and rumbly low end and I didn't think to isolate the subs and saturate them! Thank you so much!
Crazy timing, I was just searching buster bass tutorials
Always good to see buster mix!
Had saturn for a while but only recently been learning how versatile it is
perfect timing i was just listening to allt before this video
Holy crap, crushing indeed! 👍👍
He literally got a killer bass tone in 30 seconds. That is NOT fair 😅
only took a $1200 signal chain 😂
@@jackclay9145 worth it
@@jackclay9145 There are great free or budget replacements for most, if not all, of those plugins.
@@crewd00d yea, i've used plenty of freeware gear over the years trying to compete with the pro stuff, but nothing beats saturn. there's a reason buster uses it on literally everything and he's one of the best lol
@@crewd00d not to mention soothe
A bass tone worthy of a king. That's insane yet very controlled at the same time.
ps : sounds like Buster is doing the whole GGD "Frankenkit" like Misha did.
very nice.
More Buster content!
That doubler technique 🤯
Im a simple man, i see Buster, i click on like.
What plugin is that cab simulator
Neural dsp nolly
Is it a MIDI DI or is that the brightest bass DI I’ve ever heard
kinda curious what headphones hes on O_______O
It’s sennheiser hd660s
Wait a minute, what the fuck did he just did on the last minute of this video? What is "extra sub" track meaning? Can anyone explain it to me? Thank youuuuuu so much
it's the same thing as the sub track, but he added a doubler to it. Makes a fake stereo effect. I think the particular doubler he used just takes the signal and pitch shifts one side slightly up, other one down, and does the same thing with time (+-a few milliseconds).
Get Dino Medanhodzic on here, also Swedish and does the best “produced” sound. His drums are insane
the riffs are way cool, but it sounds a bit thin
I think that's always kinda been Buster's mixing technique. There's not a whole lot bass in that 70-150hz area. But rather just dirty mids and high end with sub lows. Then he lets the drum really punch thru the mix. I think it sounds cool, but I can see why you would think it sounds a bit thin.
lol
First!
Buster isnt a great teacher unfortunately. He just assumes his audience knows exactly what kind of plugin he uses without explaining any details. He assumes we know the cheap alternatives to his $150+ plugins, or that we already own them . He says advanced lingo as if the target audience for these videos doesnt also include intermediate musicians. He hardly even explains his decision making process, so he expects us to just copy how much he dials each knob in lol. Shame because I dont think theres another musician out there I'd rather learn from. I have just never seen someone do a "tutorial" where they say like 3 words and load up multiple expensive plugins without explaining ANY of them.
